  1. Not sure if this is the place to post it, but I just noticed lego.com's customer service page has instructions for several future Monthly Mini Builds: Crab (July), Flamingo (August), Pirate* (September), Witch (October), and Rocking Horse (December). *At least I think it's supposed to be a pirate
  2. I was really excited about the rumors of an Eames House set - if ever there were a building that perfectly embodies the design principles of the LEGO brick, this is it. And it's certainly well-known and admired among the target demographic for the Architect Series, so it would have been guaranteed an audience. Unless some insurmountable licensing issue came up with the Eames Foundation or something, I'm honestly baffled as to why the set was canceled. Maybe I'll put together a Cuusoo proposal for one to see if TLG could be persuaded to revisit the idea. The zombie page that got the rumor started is still lurching around, by the way...
  3. They come in one box at a time at my store (I'm a receiver at B&N). Some sets come in cases of 2, 3, or 4, but CMFs always come in a small "case" with one box inside.
  4. Thanks for a great review! I'm getting this as soon as I can, but I might need to buy another display shelf before I build it... seems I've run out of room again. Now that I've seen more detailed pictures, I'm more a fan of the color scheme. Like actual architectural drawings and models, the colors are desaturated to better emphasize the form. I'm really looking forward to the next set designed by Rok Kobe; this and Big Ben both have some interesting textural brickwork.
  5. Brilliant use of the rollerskate pieces as microscale cars; I've never seen that before.
  6. With so many firefighter sets over the years, it takes a lot to stand out, but I really think this looks like one of the best they've ever done. Thanks for reviewing, Plate!
  7. Give it a couple weeks - there are sand green ones in the Imperial Hotel!
  8. Yes! I've been waiting for a part like this!
  9. Sounds promising! While I love the detail of some of the bigger sets, I've been hoping we'd also see more massing-model-style sets along the lines of the first few Landmark buildings.
  10. I'm okay with it being monochromatic, but it does strike me as too big. I know these models are done to all kinds of different scales, but it still just seems weird for the Leaning Tower to be almost as tall as the Burj Khalifa. Oh, and in other news, it seems the initial price estimate for the Imperial Hotel was a bit too optimistic - Barnes & Noble shows a list price of $129.95 (and they don't typically mark up Architecture sets).
  11. I'm sure everyone here always sticks to Official Company Policy in their language, right? We never call them "slopes" because Official Company Nomenclature is "roof tiles." And we never ever use the word "bley," because we all know that color is called Medium Stone Grey. (Likewise for Nougat, Sand Yellow, and Bright Reddish Violet - certainly we would never transgress company policy by calling them flesh, dark tan, and magenta.) No one here has ever called their Series 7 Grandma Visitor minifigure "Little Red Riding Hood" either, right? We're nothing if not consistent in our insistence on following Official Company Policy, right?
  12. The lowercase a's are intentional. In fact I don't know if uppercase A's could even be made in a way that's stylistically consistent with the rest of the letters - the P, L, C, and E establish a clear structural pattern that can't be applied to a legible uppercase A.
  13. Unlike others here, I would prefer a blank golden minifig to one with printing and accessories - there's a sort of symbolic quality to the idea. Even then, though, I doubt I'd keep it if I were lucky enough to find one.
  14. Something I just noticed - 10662 has twelve of the round 1x1 tile with eyeball print, previously only available with the TLG employee exclusive Duck set. This should make it a little easier for those who want to build their own duck!
  15. Very rare - it won't exist. That figure is a Librarian, and she won't come with vials. The leading theory is that the vials are for the Series 11 Scientist.
  16. I'd be willing to bet the Gingerbread Man will be Medium Nougat - it would certainly be nice to finally get hands in that color.
  17. I'm not sure I'd count Samuel L. Jackson (as much as I'd like to) since the only Nick Fury fig is from Ultimate Spider-Man - and though the look of the character is inspired by Jackson, he's not actually voiced by him. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before we get a Fury fig in a MCU-based set though.
  18. Well, my plan for 2012 was to only use free money (gifts, tips, money found on the sidewalk, et cetera) for LEGO, and surprisingly enough I managed to stick to it, so I'll definitely continue that this year. If that budget allows, I want to get caught up on Architecture sets (still have five more to get, plus the Imperial Hotel and whatever else comes out this year). I also hope to make some Mini Modular MOCs - more MOCs in general really - and enter some more contests.
  19. In that case I expect to see a full-building mod from you within a week of its release. Thanks for getting the pictures! Looking even better now; I suspected it would have the 3x3 double concave slope in sand green and I'm glad to have that confirmed.
  20. Excellent find, GRogall, thanks! Hard to discern much detail, but I like what I can see. Looks like a lot of SNOT work for the windows. It's just a shame Sand Red isn't around anymore; I think that would have been the perfect color for this.
  21. Between this set and the new TMNT theme, it's like my entire childhood is just getting crammed together. I really hope the final design will be as it appears in Part II, with the wheels able to fold down. It seems like a pretty easily executed mechanism, since it was already used for Nick Fury's car.
  22. As the sig suggests, I collect the Architecture range. I plan to buy all of them eventually, I'm just not sure which to get next. I still need the Seattle Space Needle, White House, Rockefeller Center, Brandenburg Gate, Big Ben, and Sungnyemun. Does anyone think any of those are likely to be discontinued anytime soon?
  23. There are more red team members, they're just going so fast we can't see them.
  24. Nope. As a bookstore employee I can assure you this does absolutely nothing to deter theft.
  25. I like the inclusion of Dark Azure because it sort of suggests some narrative continuity with Alien Conquest, like Galaxy Squad is what the ADU became ten or twenty years later, after capturing alien spacecraft and reverse-engineering them to make their own ships.
