Black Seas Barracuda's little secrets you might not know
leafan replied to Boomchil's topic in LEGO Pirates
@Medzomorak - It doesn't look like much when it's laid-out like that. Proof that a thing can be greater than the sum of it's parts!- 49 replies

Welcome to Eurobricks, Johan / @jschijvens! Pleased to meet you.

Yeah my mom & dad used to hear a crying baby in their old house, coming from the loft. There were no babies next door and non in the house. The baby would always cry and they'd hear footsteps rushing to it and then it would stop. They looked in the loft and there was nothing. Then, when my sister was born in '69, the noises stopped. @ZordrakLordofknightmares

Youtube's very own Jangbrick's had his moc used in a Commercial for Xfinity which was basically a sequel to E.T. The Extra Terrestrial... You can see the full video here at the 2:47 mark. Good topic @Medzomorak. I hope to see more entries from people here. I'm sure I've seen Lego in lots of movies, so will add as I recall or see them again. P.S. - Here is Jang's video explaining this piece of work.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
leafan replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Maybe they'll rush out a proper celebration of the Lego Minifigure, with modern takes on classic minifigures like Redbeard and the Classic Spaceman, and then they can go: "See, we had a celebration series planned all along". I can dream. -
Pleased to meet you, @dcxplant! Welcome to Eurobricks. We have lots of Lego Star Wars fans here and I#m sure you'll find yourself right at home in the specialist sub-forum for Star Wars. Thanks for taking the time to sign up. I hope to see you joining in the discussions and sharing yours and your son's mocs soon.

Why is LEGO so hesitant about bringing back classic themes?

Why is LEGO so hesitant about bringing back classic themes?
leafan replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That kind of goes against the point is discussing it at all doesn't it? Like, why bother to provide feedback to Lego, or share frustrations with other fans? You two disagree, I can see, but everybody's opinion here comes from a place of love for Lego, so it's not helpful to say "just live with it". -
Welcome to Eurobricks, David / @collectormania! Pleased to meet you. I look forward to seeing your Lego train layout when completed. Edit: Just saw your layout in your other post - it looks great; well done!

Yeah, these market research companies do not come cheap. Doesn't invalidate what I said though. -
This is really great; well done!

Why is LEGO so hesitant about bringing back classic themes?
leafan replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I touched upon this in another topic, but essentially my thoughts on this are that Lego does not know what kids want. Kids enlarge do not know what they want either. That's why toy adverts (commercials) exist - to show them what they should want and ask their parents for. The company I work for sells directly to it's customers, so believe me when I tell you that our multi-national organisation knows specifically what our customers want and buy. The Lego Group, however, [mostly] does not sell directly to its users - it sells to retailers. Retailers know that Lego Star Wars (for example) sells very well, but their data will show that a massive percentage of those shoppers are adults. Does that mean that all purchases are for adults? Nope. Those adults are probably largely buying for children, but the exact percentage is unknown because, unless you volunteer this information and don't lie (aka, avoiding the Adult Lego Buying Shame, A.L.B.S. for short), they have no way of knowing. So how does TLG know what to produce? My guess would be that they hire designers to come up with new concepts based on several factors including, but not limited to; hot trends, social media key-words, market research conducted in Lego stores (both brick & mortar stores and online) and through 3rd party Market Research specialist companies (see link for detailed sales pitch, including reference to TLG), TV show tie-ins and hot-topic licenses (where fitting with companies brand guidelines, vision and budget). My personal suspicion is that, if you made any of the classic themes again, but with a good TV show to back it up and commercials at kids' prime-time television, it would sell well. I may be out of date, but maybe even without the TV show. -

Yeah I remember you mentioning that from your visit to the Amsterdam store, if I remember correctly. I also remember that happened in the store I visit in the UK. Next time I'm in there, if I can find an employee that looks like they enjoy their job, I'll ask.

Hello, I have a suggestion that a special tag should be created for members that have reached 10k support over on the Lego Ideas website. When they choose to come here and make themselves known, it would be nice to recognise the considerable achievement of gathering ten thousand people to say that they would like your moc made into an official Lego set. 10k Club.

I've added this moc from The Chronicles of Narnia, which I know isn't Pirates, but I feel like it will also appeal to Pirates fans, so check out... The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by Jcreations912: The creator of this also has a good Castle entry which I've covered in the matching Historical index. You can see The King's Castle Gatehouse here. @Digger of Bricks - Do you think this would fit a topic in the Action & Adventure sub-forum? Or perhaps the licensed one? Anyway feel free to re-post there if you think it'd fit - you know better than I do on that.

Does anyone know the rotation for parts in the BAM tower? I suppose it could be dependant on the store, but there seems to be a base-selection which is rotated out when a seasonal assortment is added, then put back when the season ends (season as in...Christmas or Halloween). But then there are the new parts for the standard selection, like the new printed Castle shield - does anyone know how often new parts get put into the rotation?

It's a lovely moc and I'll add it to the index shortly. I hope you reach 10k support so that we can get this into review.
