Hi randomwalk I don't think think a dedicated 'what went wrong' thread is needed so I've merged all of the posts into the main one for this set

Hi Zusammengebaut, thanks for the review The RRP is ridiculous though, I really don't understand what TLG were thinking. SW LEGO is expensive, and I'm usually more than happy to pay a premium, but this is simply too much. It doesn't look like a UCS set - perhaps if it was another 1,000 parts and they'd focused the design on the hangar then it would be worthy of the label - it's just too unfinished. I've merged both of your recent threads together, as I don't think that they need to be separate.

Thanks for the link, Artizan On the plus side, both K-3PO and the little transport look great but that's about the most enthusiam I can muster for the set. The reverse of the ION cannon isn't the best though - it seems odd that no attempt has been made to hide the mechanism; or to at least use LBG parts when possible so it doesn't look so obvious. I'm really disappointed by the reverse of the blast doors - that's the first shot that I've seen of them and they look dreadful If the set was somewhere near £170-£180 I wouldn't mind so much, but this is supposedly a premium product and priced accordingly. In my opinion, there's a high probability that this will be significantly discounted within the next year - it will be interesting to see if TLG enforce the 'one per household limit' other UCS sets have.

Thanks Zusammengebaut, I'm looking forward to seeing your review Interestingly, Brickset has published an article called 'Assault on Hoth: is it all bad?' which states: 'Ahead of our in-depth review next week and its release on May the 4th, LEGO has sent us a list of the set's highlights and unique features, which might persuade you to give it a second look'. Perhaps TLG are getting concerned about the overwhelming negativity that it's received from the AFOL community? I've said it before, but I'm very much in two minds about this set. I love all things Hoth, but this is just a incoherent cluster of smaller sets that are lacking in the sort of appeal that a UCS should have. In addition, the RRP is ridiculous - I appreciate that TLG has every right to make a decent profit, but £219.99 is indefensible. I'm almost tempted to email TLG and ask if they'll supply the extra parts for the missing 'fin' of the shield generator free of charge - I wouldn't mind it in a playset, but this been designated as 'UCS' and it should be suitably accurate! It seems that we've got 75% of a set for 100% of the cost!

[MOC] NEW UCS Nebulon B - Medical Frigate 'Redemption'
Lobot replied to mortesv's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It appears in the last few minutes of Episode V, when Luke has been rescued from Cloud City. Luke is shown recovering on it (plus gaining his robotic hand); I haven't seen ESB for a while, but there's a brief scene of it with the Falcon attached underneath if I recall correctly. The last few seconds of the film show Luke and Leia staring out of a viewport towards a galaxy - this is what mortesv refers to in his first post -
[MOC] NEW UCS Nebulon B - Medical Frigate 'Redemption'

Hi mortesv, I didn't think that you could improve on the original version, but this has taken it to another level  I can't wait to see the instructions, especially the design of the frame. I did try to briefly build one myself in LDD but got totally frustrated with it - I'm sure there's a knack to creating the angles correctly, but it's one I clearly lack!! If the rumoured new UCS Snowspeeder isn't any good, I'd love to do take this as project for the winter, it looks like quite a challenge! -
I've just found a copy available on Ebay (link).....it almost makes the UK RRP seem quite reasonable I'm still in two minds about buying it on 4th May; it just seems ridiculously expensive, even for a LEGO set.

The new 75098 Assault on Hoth has quite a nice Ion Cannon (well, apart from the awful flick-fire missiles!) and it will be on sale from the end of April. If you wait for a couple of weeks you should be able to download the instructions for it from the LEGO website. For future reference there's a general Q&A thread pinned to the top of the forum. I'll merge this with it in a bit -

Hi RyGan_Fireblast, and welcome to Eurobricks! Personally, I'd go for the Tyderium Shuttle without any hesitation. It's a great OT model, has a decent part count, plus a nice selection of minifigures. It's been around for almost a year, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's discontinued by Christmas, based on the usual 18 month life-cycle of most Star Wars sets. For future reference there's a general Q&A thread pinned to the top of the forum. I'll merge this with it in a bit -
Please can I remind everyone that this thread is for 2016 Pictures and Rumours, thanks If you'd like to talk about sets that you'd like to see in the future, we already have a thread specifically for it (link).

Thanks CopMike, mine arrived safely today I'm not sure where it's been for the last 24 days, but our postal system isn't the best sometimes!

Is this it? - ( ) -
Hi, you're welcome, I'm glad it was of interest. If you're looking for other ideas, thire5's MOC is also well worth a look and is one of my favourites. I've included one of the images of it below, but there's lots of other photos in his flickr stream (link) including several that show how it's been built internally. I'm looking forward to seeing your updates

Hi fadlyabduljalil, and welcome to Eurobricks! That's a difficult question to answer, but if you're considering buying something, decent research is always a good starting point. In addition, I'd always buy from a reputable seller, with a good feedback history on either Ebay or Bricklink, and be prepared to pay the market price for it. As with most things, if something looks too good to be true it usually is! or future reference there's a general Q&A thread pinned to the top of the forum. I'll merge this with it in a bit -
Bricklinking a 75059 Sandcrawler without the play features
Lobot replied to General Magma's topic in LEGO Star Wars
If you order the set from TLG during a double VIP point event, you'll get an equivalent of 10% off, which is a reasonable saving. Then, if you can live without the figures I'm sure that you could re-coup quite a bit by selling them on Ebay or Bricklink. Or, you may get lucky and find one on Ebay minus the minifigures at a reasonable discount. Unfortunately, there's around 270 different part types in the set so I really don't think that it would be very straightforward to Bricklink, or that it would be any cheaper overall especially after you've factored-in postage etc. I don't want to dissuade you from doing this if you want to attempt it as a project, but having Bricklinked a few sets I really wouldn't recommend it -
Well, that's a serious disappointment Yet another mediocre 'exclusive' from TLG, I really don't understand it. Considering the 4th May promos must account for a decent volume of their sales outside of Christmas I would have thought that they'd want to encourage AFOLs to spend! I was expecting something Hoth-related to help push the sales of 75098, especially considering the less than positive feedback from the community it's received. The double VIP points is always good, but even with that it only brings the net cost down to around the Ewok Village. Perhaps I might be tempted closer to the day, but I can see myself waiting for the rumoured UCS Snowspeeder.

I tried to Bricklink one a few years ago and gave up when I'd obtained around 50% of the parts, and finally realised that it would be cheaper to buy a used one! At the time I was planning to buy only new parts, but in hindsight if I'd chosen a few used it would have been possible for around the same amount. However, since then the cost of the parts you mention have become even more prohibitive, so I doubt that it's a viable project unless you want a challenge! As you've seen, I've merged this thread with another one which may be of interest. Good luck if you decide to attempt this, but personally I'd keep an eye out on Ebay or Bricklink for a decent used copy

Hi strider117 Thanks for sharing this, you've obviously put quite a lot of effort into it. I've embedded one of the photos into your post so that everyone can view it. Cheers, Robin

Great review, duboismerci Not a set for me, but it will make a good army builder for anyone that wants to add to their Imperial forces. I agree with you about the build though, the emplacement is very lacklustre even for a Battle pack! As requested, I've added the poll for you

Hi Midlife-crisis, this is starting to look really promising, well done! I particularly like the shaping of the right slopes, although the top section looks a little too irratic/jagged to me. Have you considered creating a more gentle curve for the last few layers rather than a steep 'wall' - most of the larger scale Hoths that I've seen use this approach and it looks great. Lots of interior LEDs would also add to the final effect; apologies if you've already seen it but Brickplumber's version may give you some inspiration (link). Although I'm really disappointed by 75098 I've almost (and very reluctantly) decided to order it in May; and then I'm going expand it. White parts are very cheap on Bricklink and it shouldn't be that expensive to add some 'bulk' to the main hangar etc....

Hi Danorak81, the only one that I can think of is the 'Death Star Plans' from the current Droid Escape Pod (part 3068bpb0947). According to Bricklink there's over 2,500 different printed tiles, so you might want to trawl through them (link) if you're looking for something in particular! For future reference there's a general Q&Q thread pinned to the top of the forum. I'll merge this with it in a bit -

Hi MysteriousSir Most Venators tend to be in the 3-4,000 part region and I can't think of any myself in that range (apart from the official set!) but hopefully one of the other members may be able to point you in the right direction. For future reference there's a general Q&A thread pinned to the top of the forum. I'll merge this with it in a bit -
Hi Ellis, I've embedded all of the images in your posts. If you follow the instructions from krisandkris12 you shouldn't have any problems Hopefully one of the more experienced users of LDD will be able to help you with the connections - I've tried using it a few times and really struggled with some of it!

Interesting news; someone has just posted a photo of a price label on Brickset which states: 'LEGO SW ANAKIN'S PODRA' (24.99) and it looks pretty legitimate to me. Perhaps I'll hold off from buying the 75098 for a little longer....
