  1. I've just seen another image of the set box, and it looks rather dull in comparison to 10188. It's all a bit dark blue and black and lacking the class of other recent UCS sets (e.g. Slave 1, TIE Fighter and Sandcrawler). There's one potential glimmer of hope though; in the bottom-left is the unmistakable outline of a Falcon! Hopefully, it's a sign that another UCS version is in the pipeline... or perhaps I'm being a bit too optimistic?
  2. I've just seen it as well and, if it's legit, I'm disappointed. It's almost like a 'can you spot the difference'... Moff Tarkin seems to have developed a bad quiff, and that seems to be the most significant change. Whatever next? Perhaps the rumoured update of the UCS Snowspeeder will have 3 additional parts? This hasn't been the best year for SW LEGO, and this pretty much follows that trend
  3. Hi modsquare, and welcome to Eurobricks! As you've discovered 10179 is one of the most coveted of all LEGO SW sets, as reflected by the current aftermarket price. Personally, I'd suggest that you allow your son to build it (carefully!) but it may be worth using a free .pdf copy of the instructions from the LEGO website, and to also not apply the stickers etc to ensure that it retains as much value as possible. it's a mammoth build so you might want to oversee it (I can't build one in less than 20 hours, and I've tried to on several occasions!). For future reference there's a general Q & A thread pinned to the top of the forum. I'll merge this with it in a bit
  4. I'll be interested to see the final price point of it. Considering that 10188 was initially released in 2008 and remained at the same price for 8 years, it was genuinely excellent value especially in the last couple of years. £275 for 3,800 parts and 24 minifigures; I can't envisage that any SW set will ever be as good. I'd guess that the new one will be £400 - £425, taking into account inflation and the recent 'premium' pricing strategy. That could be the major sales blocker; such a visible jump in cost from a model that has only just out of production....
  5. That the Death Star Droid; if I recall correctly it only makes a fleeting appearance in one of the Sandcrawler scenes in Episode IV! I was always confused by that, but perhaps it was one of the Kenner naming 'anomalies' of the 70's? Anyway, it's good to finally hear about the new Death Star, it's just a shame that it seems to pretty much confirm what most of us were expecting... another lazy re-make. With 75098, this isn't the best year for being an OT fan. I don't mind the odd re-make, but it would be good if they were interspersed with the occasional gem. Hopefully 2017 will make up for it, otherwise I'm going to be seriously disappointed
  6. Thanks CM4Sci, that's a lot of grey and black, but I guess it goes with the territory! I'm quite impressed by the design of the AT-ST, definitely the best non-UCS version to date. It's a bit worrying that there isn't a single OT Stormtrooper in sight, but hopefully they'll make a later appearance
  7. Amazing work, jhaelego! You've captured the shape perfectly, it's certainly on a par with cavegod's and Brickplumber's versions. It's a real shame the TLG haven't released a true UCS AT-AT; even if it was scaled slightly smaller it would be stunning and pretty much guaranteed to be a best seller.
  8. Hi jsharp13, and welcome to Eurobricks! You may find this thread of interest If I recall correctly, you can't see the any of the Tan Hinges - I think I went for Grey and the black levers don't look too bad, but you might want to paint them (or have a look on Ebay where painted ones are often available). Personally I loved building it, and it looks amazing when complete, but it's very fragile! For future reference there's a general Q&A thread pinned to the top of the forum. I'll merge this with it in a bit
  9. I'm clearly in the minority here, but the new Han just looks awful He looks like a hybrid of John Travolta and the Fonz.... bring back Han from 10179, it's all been downhill from there! Ah well, at least the Death Star seems to be finally in arriving, I'll be interested to see what it looks like.
  10. Don't worry Rich, according to the Argos Autumn-Winter catalogue, the price in the UK will be the same as last year (£24.99) Considering the quality of the minifigures it's definitely worth it, and I haven't thought that about a Star Wars set for quite a while! I'll be buying several of these; it's going to make a very useful army builder and E-3PO is so cute! And, I'm probably in the minority here, but I quite like Chewie; if nothing else he's a significant improvement on Santa Yoda, Santa Maul, Santa Vader, R2-D2 with Antlers etc etc....
  11. Just look at the first post of this thread, or click on the 'arrow' link below: Looking at the box-art of the Star Wars Advent Calendar I'm not surprised that there's a couple of Tatooine-based sets (including a mini-Skiff & Jabba's Palace). It would be great if the Landspeeder does include a Tusken Raider as the previous T-16 set was ridiculously priced in the UK, which limited the volumes available on Bricklink etc. It's one of the few figures in my opinion that was a vast improvement on the original and I'd really like to grab a few. I'm a bit surprised by the lack of ESB or Cloud City sets though, I thought that the inclusion of a Bespin Security Guard & E-3PO in 75146 was a good sign of some other sets for 2017. Hopefully, there may be some other exclusives in the pipeline.....
  12. I could be totally wrong, but having read CapnRex101's comments, it could be a hybrid of 10143 and 10188. One half could include a series of rooms similar to 10188 whilst the other could be either the incomplete 'frame' area of 10143, or alternatively a full outer shell. That could work really well, and might account for his slightly cryptic comments.
  13. If you're referring to the release date of the actual Rogue One film, it's mid-December (16th in the UK). Usually there are two 'waves' of Star Wars sets each year (summer and winter) but 'Force Friday' messed up the usual pattern so it's subject to change! However, it seems logical that the first wave should coincide with the film debut, especially with Christmas so close to it. I'd expect that they'll start appearing in the shops in mid-late November.
  14. Congratulations mortesv, that's brilliant news! I doubt that you'll get much sleep in the next few weeks, so perhaps it's best if you take a break from LDD for a while! I've been following this thread with interest; I'm very tempted to take this on as a project for the winter. The add-ons (especially the GR-75s) really add to the finished look
  15. Hi IanZerbachov, I hope that you don't mind but I've embedded one of the photos for you. For future reference it's very straightforward to do this from Flickr: Firstly select the image you want > Next click on the 'Download this photo' arrow (bottom-right) and select 'View all sizes' > Next click on the link for the one you want (e.g. 640 x 494) > Next right-click on the image and select 'Copy image address' > Next open your post in Eurobricks and select the 'Image' (Tree) icon on the toolbar > Paste the address in the URL box, click 'OK' and you're done! Great work, by the way
  16. Personally, I'd be amazed if the RRP was the same as 10188, considering that it was initially available in 2008 By the time that you've factored in 8 years of inflation and the new 'premium' that TLG seem to be applying to licensed sets, I wouldn't be surprised if it's around the £400 mark (assuming that it's approximately the same size). I could be completely off the mark, but I'd guess that it will retain a similar part count, and number of minifigures, but be noticeably smaller. Although I had the opportunity to buy the old version, it never really appealed to me even though it was very good value for money. I'd love to see an updated UCS Death Star II, intended as a display model, plus a decent array of minifigures to go with it.
  17. Thanks Cjd223, it's a very impressive list If anyone has problems uploading it via the .XML file, you may need to convert it to a .txt file. I had problems when I tried the standard format, but it was fine with a 'copy and paste' from an open .txt file. If anyone wants a copy of it please PM and I'll forward it on. I'm really tempted to build this, 532 different part types sounds like my sort of challenge!
  18. Hi Cjd223 is it possible for you to publish a copy of the parts list, or provide them via email? I'd like to cost it before I commit to building it (and ordering the instructions!); I'd really like to do this as a BL project
  19. Considering that it's ~6,000 parts, and potentially upwards of 450 part types (assuming some rationalisation from the earlier version(s)) I'd guess that the final bill could be in the £7-800 range (or $1000+). Although a decent proportion of parts will be small, and relatively cheap, I think the main problem will be the wide range of different types needed. Unless you are very lucky and find a store with most of the parts, the postage is going to really add up from the multiple orders..... I'm really tempted to have a bash at it though, it could be a fun project for the winter
  20. Tesco Direct have the new Clone Turbo Tank (75151) on offer at £71.99 at the moment (including the additional £5 reduction which is applied on orders above £40): Link here
  21. Re: the above post, please can I remind everyone of the Site Guidelines; in particular: 'Manners and Serious Topics: Don't be offensive to other members. We like Eurobricks to be a friendly place to discuss LEGO and won't allow posts that are intended to offend or attack. For the same reason, topics (or avatars and other expressions) about religion or politics are not welcome on Eurobricks' Also, please can everyone try to refrain from discussing the cost of sets and minifigures etc. The pricing structure of most licensed sets has increased quite a bit in the last few years and it's just something that we have to accept, thanks for your understanding
  22. Hi Alex, and welcome to Eurobricks! I've merged your post into our existing photography thread to keep the forum tidy The snow looks particularly good - did you use icing sugar?
  23. As mentioned previously, we do not allow the sharing of confidential images via PMs, so please refrain from making this sort of request.
  24. Hi Nick6314, I'm not sure what the point of this thread is? If you want to post any images of your own MOCs here please PM and I'll unlock it for you.
