That looks really good SpacePirate, I'm looking forward to seeing the final version! When all of the top plates are added they mesh together and the finished model will be a lot more solid. I think that you've made the right decision about the rigging; using the LBG ladders gives a far better look than the black rigging. How much did it cost if you don't mind me asking? I was almost tempted to build another one as a project for the winter, but I'm really busy with other things, and I still need to build my UCS X-Wing, TIE and Sandcrawler which are currently in their shipping boxes...!

Hi Hobbun, and welcome to Eurobricks! The blue colour on the current version of the Stormtrooper (sw585) is quite dark, almost navy, and I much prefer the printing of the helmet compared to the Rebels version (sw578). However, the latter is a lot cheaper and widely available on Bricklink, and via the 75078 battlepacks, which could be worth considering if you're thinking of buying more than just a handful. For future reference there's a general Q&A thread pinned to the top of the forum. I'll merge this thread with it later today -

I've just checked the inventory for it on Bricklink (here) and it doesn't include a spare (as shown at the bottom of the page) so it's likely that you've missed it somewhere It's a great set, lots of useful parts and a decent selection of minifigures. -
No need to apologise Right, I think that I've updated all of the threads. And, back to more interesting topics; if anyone finds a 75137 Carbon Freezing Chamber in the UK I'd be very interested! It's one of the very few sets that I've seen in the last couple of years that I genuinely can't wait to build!

Please can I remind everyone that this thread is for 2016 Pictures and Rumours only, thanks If you want to talk about the availability of the new sets, there's already a dedicated thread (here). I'll move some of the recent posts across to it shortly.

Hi Kenny If you're interested in the Jedi Defender-Class Cruiser (75025), it's still available in the UK at TRU for only £59.99 at the moment (link) which is the cheapest that I've seen it. For future reference there's a general Q&A thread pinned to the top of the forum which is ideal for this sort of thing; I'll merge this with it in a bit -
I don't think there's any need for this thread at the moment, so I'm going to lock it. However, if anyone would like to add their MOCs here please PM me and I'll unlock it, or alternatively you can create a dedicated thread

Please can I remind everyone not to quote images, especially if they're on the current page. I've spent quite a lot of my time recently updating posts and adding 'Please don't quote images, thanks!' in the comments, and it would be nice if I didn't have to Also, please can everyone adhere to the site guidelines regarding posts (link), in particular:

For future reference there's a general Q&A thread pinned to the top of this forum; I'll merge this with it in a bit. In answer to your question, I think that it's on its days are numbered. In the UK at least there hasn't been much stock available in the last couple of months and I don't recall Amazon having it for quite a while. In addition, the LEGO website shows it as 'Call to check product availability'. I get the impression that it's sold well; it has a good selection of minifigures and is fun to build, so it seems a little odd that TLG has decided to cease production at this point -
Please can I refer you to the first post of this thread (below). I can't see anything on HothBricks about this, so please can you add a link to it, thanks

I've moved your recent posts into this thread as they weren't really applicable for the 2016 Pictures and Rumours. In reply to your question I very much doubt that the UCS Hoth set will be available for the budget you suggest (assuming that it will be released at all). Of the sets that are currently available it may be worth considering Mos Eisley Cantina (75052), Millennium Falcon (75105) or the Imperial Shuttle Tyderium (75094) which are all very good value in my opinion. If you want to wait, and are looking to expand your Hoth collection, the new Hoth Attack (75138) looks reasonable although I doubt that you'll be able to find it at a discount for a while. -

Hi Ronan, there's a general Q&A thread pinned to the top of the forum which is ideal for this sort of query. I'll merge this thread with it in a bit -
Whilst some of the recent discussions about minifigure licences etc are interesting, please can we keep this thread for 2016 pictures and rumours only, thanks 4-LOM didn't actually appear at all in Cloud City, and if my memory serves he only makes a brief appearance on the bridge of the Executor with all of the other bounty hunters, so I don't see why he would be included in it. That said, TLG have made some rather interesting combinations of sets and minifigures in the last few years, so I guess anything is possible! And, nrg, do you know something that we don't.....?

Hi SpacePirate, that's looking really good, it brings back lots of good memories! I'd recommend you take your time building it, and just do a bit now and again. It's a mammoth project and I've never been able to do it in less than 20 hours. If you want to post photos on Eurobricks you'll need to upload them onto a 'hosting' site (e.g. flickr or Brickshelf etc) and you can then deeplink them from it using the 'Image' icon on the toolbar (it looks like a framed tree!). Please ensure that you keep to a maximum of 600 x 800. It's reasonably simple to do, but the process may differ slightly depending on the browser you use; just ask if you need any help with it

For anyone who missed this in the UK, I've just discovered that it's being added to your cart with any order of SW above £25. I can't see any details on the website, but I hope it will run for a few days at least!
-
Thanks CopMike, you've made my day! All of those lovely minifigures - they'll make great additions to my ever-growing collection of SW!

It will all be worth it in the end! Bricklink is totally addictive like that; anyone who's used it for a large project can appreciate the pain involved! I'm almost tempted to re-build mine, but I must admit I got rather frustrated when I disassembled it. Perhaps it will be easier next time, but I found the technic pins that re-inforce the wings an absolute nightmare to remove and had to resort to very careful use of my Leatherman, which I didn't enjoy at all

Once you've created a Wanted list, you should have a 'By Shop' option on the toolbar immediately to the right of 'My Wanted List' > Within that screen you have a 'My Wanted List Settings' which I found very useful Unfortunately volcompt needs to make 10 posts before he can access the PM system. I haven't seen Soul for a bit, so I'm not sure is he's still around.

Hi volcompt, and welcome to Eurobricks! If you're debating this, I strongly recommend that you do quite a bit of research before committing to anything, especially if you haven't used Bricklink much before. Apologies if you're already aware of this, but you can add the entire parts list for the set (link) into a 'Wanted' list and then Bricklink will generate a list of the stores with the highest volume of matches. There are advanced settings that enable you to decide if you want to include 'part' lots in a store (e.g. if you need 50 of an item, and a store only has 45 of them, or not!) but be careful with this, as often the stores with the most stock will be more expensive! However, if you start browsing when you're logged into Bricklink, the top-left of the screen will show how many parts/lots are available in the store that's on your list, which can be very useful. Regarding substitutes etc, try and decide what compromises you're willing to make at the start and then work back from there (e.g. dish, rigging, levers, red plate etc). I'd also strongly recommend running everything on a decent spreadsheet, and checking both the LEGO 'Pick a Brick' and 'Bricks and Pieces' ('Buy Bricks' option) websites as the prices are sometimes cheaper than Bricklink (and check both as the prices were occasionally different on each one for the same part! ) Oh, and you may find this thread useful! (link) I'll merge this with it in a bit. Good luck if you decide to go ahead, it's an amazing challenge if you have the time and sufficient enthusiasm!

Thanks Mymaker123, a great find! I'm probably showing my age but I'm not really that interested in the Episode VII sets. However both the Carbon-Freezing Chamber and Droid Escape Pod are must buys for me, and I'm going to get the former as soon as I can find it somewhere! The box artwork is excellent and the design of the Ugnaught is starting to grow on me; plus lots of useful parts and copious amounts of trans-orange! I'm quite impressed by the Escape Pod which is a considerable improvement on the old one; the interior is surprisingly detailed and I can see both sets selling well They were available on Amazon during the first Argos 3 for 2 a few weeks ago at £60.58, and also discounted to £89.99 last weekend (as part of the last 3 for 2 which reduced them £60 each). They're a bargain at that price and make a good parts-pack if you're looking for lots of standard LBG & DBG plates!
-
Well, I'm clearly in the minority on this, but these sets look totally underwhelming and ridiculously expensive! Personally I think that Kylo Ren's Shuttle (75104) is far better value and it has been available at 40% off a couple of times in the UK recently which is getting somewhere near the RRPs of these. Each to their own, I guess.

My feeble attempt using a box of random parts I had to hand, although it included some trans light-green which is always good! Thanks to CopMike for running this again, it makes December far more bearable! Lobot trying to bring peace and goodwill to all visitors of Cloud City.
