  1. Hi all! Here we go again with big Lego trains running on 45mm G Gauge track! Some of you may remember the yellow Toy Train locomotive I prepared back in 2019 -it was one of my first experiments with G-Gauge trains. This little locomotive was based on a small Powered-Up battery box and a Medium motor. Here it is during a night run on the new 45mm copper track with wooden sleepers I restored to be used on my small garden railway. Here's a detail of the old chassis with the original 1,667:1 gear ratio. This solution proved to work fine on a flat track at home, but was completely useless on the garden line, which can be easily considered a "mountain railway". A 3:1 gear ratio worked better, but gears were too stressed and speed was ridicolous. Plus, with some wagons, the motor always needed to work at full speed. Therefore, back to the lab, I completely revisited the heart of the locomotive, and updating some details on the exterior. Here it is, the Mark II (TADAAAAAAA) !!! And...what's new??? Actually, at body level, it did not change so much from the older one . Handle bars, and headlights have been modified and a new exhaust scoop has been added over the hood (there's no more a red On/Off button). The real new part is under the bodywork: A completely new chassis has been introduced, and now features a new 4-ports PuP Hub and a more efficient Large Motor. Gear ratio is now 2.779:1. It is very strong and smooth - the big battery/bluetooth hub helps traction (which can be increased with the use of rubber bands around the wheels), and the L-Motor is a great improvement over the M-Motor. I've prepared some workflows on the PuP application to work at 25/50/75/100% of the power. The chassis can be detached from the body with four "fast unlock" pins, so changing the batteries is now an easy task. Then, with a locomotive now up to the task of garden railroading, I needed some rolling stock. I've some LGB wagon bases with studs on top (item number 94063) which are the perfect chassis for some wagons I've designed in Stud.io. Both axles are steering, to help the wagon working on tighter curves. So here it is the small gondola , in a bright blue color: And the tan/beige gondola with taller sides: The LGB chassis runs smoothly and really helps the whole train to roll better. Sometimes these things are available (used or new) with an acceptable price, so I get them. A final photo of the consist (fat least for the moment)! Next to come, a passenger and a closed freight wagon with sliding doors (let's see who comes first). I'll try it on the garden railway soon and give some feedbacks (for now only some pretty satisfactory tests were conducted on homemade ramps) I hope you like it!!! Ciao! Davide
  2. This one is even more spectacular! I love the way you design wagons - and that little Kof is a masterpiece!
  3. Aaaaah, really really nice wagons!!! Very clean and with a perfect "German" feeling. Thumbs up!!!
  4. Ciao Emanuele! It's true - it was a busy summer (mainly due to work reasons) so I did not follow Lego stuff for awhile, basically since my last drawings in 1:87. Plus, the old PC has broken down so now I'm using a small spare barebone PC, not so powerful for CAD and renderings. Main project now is to go on with the garden railway, but restoring all the old track (copper rails and 40 years old wooden sleepers) is a slow and steady work I was doubtful on that "collection sentence" too - I follow the congratulations from @Tenderlok !!! (Ciao Sven!)
  5. Great build Emanuele! It is really elegant and well-proportioned, and a great addition to your collection!!! The overhead line is magnificent - I like it a lot! Ciao! Davide
  6. Great MOC - the locomotive is very nice and you reproduced a lot of details! Really really really well done!!! Ciao! Davide
  7. Please go on with some wagons - It's awesome! Time to update a bit this thread - pity my old PC broke down so I've problems in rendering new models (the laptop is reeeeally slow for this kind of video performances). But I succeded at least to do this one - in POV-RAY instead of photorealistic rendering. It's a model of a model of the V80, directly taken from old Lima H0 catalogs. It's a simplified V80 with only two axles (!) that was available in a lot of Lima starter sets of the 80s. Many of these locomotives were DB or SNCF, and color schemes were mostly invented. Being part of a toy set , solidity, bright colors and variety of wagons and accessories were the main requisites. The "prototype" has no Lima decal on It , but I thought it could give a nice touch to a somewhat empty body side. Ciao! Davide
  8. This thread is beginning to get HUGE! You are designing some very nice models that I really love (like the TY2) and I always look for on Youtube! Keep up this great work! Ciao! Davide
  9. I follow this thread from the early posts - it's amazing the level these monorails have reached, in terms of track and rolling stock! Great work, it's always amusing seeing new models and videos of these nice machines! Ciao! Davide
  10. I found some years ago some good plugs that could be used for replacing Lego ones (at least internally to train and buildings) so to keep the good original ones for external connections (e.g. points, signals...). These were brown an were very similar to blue plugs of the blue era and fitted the 4,5v battery perfectly. I think I've still some of them in the basement. If I succeed to find them again, I'll post a photo. I've never found them again nor online or in any shop.
  11. Nice modular tunnels!!! Compliments to your dad and to you for taking back a good idea and making it better!
  12. Great rendition of the V60!!! Smooth , detailed and with a really nice chassis! Ciao! Davide
  13. Spectacular train! The body curves are represented in a perfect way! Ciao! Davide
  14. Very nice wagons!!! Perfect for heavy-duty operations! The "classic" unload system is always working, So it was a good choice! Thumbs up also for the picture with all colors available! Davide
  15. I reeeeaally love the way you designed these trains, they have a fantastic look! And that sliding door on the white wagon is GREAT! Very very nice! Ciao! Davide
  16. Very nice trolley and showcase with background!!!
  17. I like all the approaches - the curved one is the most "classic" , The angled one proposed by @Hod Carrier is surely a great alternative (and maybe is more prone to include some more details/colors - being based on tiles) and the "seats" one is a very nice use of a very very specific part, even if it could have some problems with color availability. Great stuff!!!
  18. This is great!!! When my daughter was 4 years old she was following the show, and that trolley always "inspired" a Lego build!!! I'm glad you translated it in a Lego design! Great work, also on the minifigures!!!
  19. Hi all, I add here the new render for the FS E.424 in its original paint scheme (with central sliding gate in gray) "Castano-Isabella" This was literally the first modern-looking Italian locomotive. Now, let's see a Diesel locomotive, the powerful D.345 (and D.343): It has a very very difficult shape to replicate, and the green tone is not correct - the problem is that the headlamp holders in dark green are still unavailable and bricks with grilles have terrific prices. Therefore I chose a lighter tint of green (let's imagine it is ruined by years of work!) This is a great locomotive I particularly love for its ability to bring train transportation even on less important lines. Here we have a local train with short "Corbellini" coaches , in late spring / summer configuration - so without the "heater" wagon (which I'm preparing for the next update) to heat the coaches. It is currently the most difficult locomotive I tried to replicate Ciao! Davide
  20. Very nice train, with a lot of details and realistic shapes! Ciao! Davide
  21. FS - D.345 - and local train with "Corbelini" short coaches I updated also the FS Italian glories in 4-wide - 1:87 - if needed I'll clean this or the other post Ciao! Davide
  22. I love this station and the way you organized its modularity! The only thing it needs in my opinion is to be surrounded by lots of trees and flowers! . Great job!!! Ciao! Davide
  23. Such a clever design!!! Thanks for sharing the instructions!!!
  24. Very nice locomotive and background!!! And great light for the shot - you really chosed the right time to make this photo!
  25. What a cutie! It is a very original small locomotive - a perfect tribute to the original one! Great job Ciao! Davide
