Great Emanuele, with those newer parts you gave it a distinct personality!!! It seems at home both on 12v and on PF tracks!!! It is very very nice and I'm glad the wheels are working fine! Ciao! Davide

Tricky question! I'll try my best! Gray Era phase I station(s): 7822 - including some variants - mainly for overpasses and all parts with fences. 7777 for the restaurant-bar part Gray Era phase II station: 7824 (for all parts with white "train" windows) and for the snack bar Gray Era phase 1 and 2 level crossing 7834 (for the little cabin between 2nd and third track - but it could also be the little shed (2-3-1 steam locomotive page) in 7777. 7866 (mainly for sloped windows) But 12v does not mean only Gray Era - so you've an overpass building like in 148 station from the Blue Era. There's a bus station like in some old catalogs images from 1980/81 (It was a specific set) and a level crossing immediately after the station like in 1983/84 catalogs. I think it's all I can spot - but let me tell you the most important thing...it is magnificent! Ciao! Davide

"Uh oh...it seems MOM found me!!!" This is the XXL version (x2) of the little wooden train - it can run on 45mm G-Scale track (for this reason you see a larger custom track with 5 studs between the rails) and it is powered by a PF L motor. Also this one can use PuP. To turn it on or off, just press the chimney! Just for curiosity, it is my first XXL train not based on a 4,5v or 12v design and it is the first one to be completely studless. Being the small train long 16studs and 6 wide - it was an easy conversion. XXL chassis, motor and buffers are currently at their 4th generation and standard among all my XXL models. Ciao! Davide

Spectacular model!!! I love the quantity of details and functions you squeezed in it! Great great great! -
It seems real - it is a fantastic scale model of the prototype - astonishing creation of a wonderful vehicle!

Hi all, since I saw many Christmas creations , I wanted to prepare something which could be found under the Christmas Tree, and - if needed, it can also travel around it! It is a small wooden train (made in ABS!!!) similar to one (made of wood) I bought years ago in a flea market. In this photo you can see it in its pull-along version. But with some modifications... ...It can become a real train: The modifications are all inside the locomotive cabin, where a Powered Up Medium motor literally stands up over the rear wheels (also providing traction to them) M-motor is not fixed - its flat sides are blocked by the 5-wide cabin itself. The rear wheels use two traction rubber bands, stolen directly by 12v and 4,5v trains. The train is quite light, so even a 2wd traction is sufficient. As in the best Lego tradition, the battery and movement control are in the wagon immediately next to the locomotive. The PuP hub controls the motor and receives inputs from the color sensor. I bought for my little cousin the last Duplo train and it has the same feature - it can read the colors on some parts put in the middle of the track and acts consequently. I put a red tile on the track to simulate the stop condition. Last thing, as you can see the couplers are fixed on one end and removable on the other end. This means the wagons can only be attached in one direction, as it happened in older toy trains. If needed, the pull-along version can become a push-along train only substituting the normal wheels with train ones + round tiles with central hole. I hope you like it! Ciao! Davide

[MOC] 4,5v Maintenance diesel railcar in Gray Era style
Paperinik77pk replied to Paperinik77pk's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thanks Evans! I had a mockup of this sitting around for a lot of time. But it was created before the design in Stud.io - which always helps me to refine the idea and to "write it down" for future use or reference. I've never completed it, though. Normally I collect all designs and from time to time I recall them - and in some cases I build them (like the BR98 Glaskasten). It's all a matter of mood, parts available and nostalgia . You're right - there are too few machines of this kind! Currently I'm building another 12v service vehicle, which is depicted in 7777 book and it's based on 7760. Sincerely I did not take it too much into consideration in the past. I thought it was a freelance model, but it reminds me an old LGB model (even if it has only two axles and it's meant as a narrow gauge vehicle). I only need a 12v black motor to finish it :) This one is a nice idea also for my XXL models! -
[MOC] 4,5v Maintenance diesel railcar in Gray Era style
Paperinik77pk replied to Paperinik77pk's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Ehehe thank you!!! Here is the 4,5v motor! As ou can see it powers only the front wheels. A larger wheelbase is sometimes needed to make something different from the classic 4,5v models of the past. Even if it's only 2WD, on a light thing like this one it is not a problem. I already tried this solution for another (never built) locomotive , but in that case I put the weight brick immediately over the powered wheels to increase traction. If you need other info feel free to PM me without any problem! Ciao! Davide -
A nice work! I think is a good idea matching the real Lego part name to the new identifier. Since it could become a comprehensive list of all possible lego wheels sizes, it would be nice in my opinion to insert also older parts sizes, just for reference. For what I could measure with my hand tool and simple Lego plates, these are the sizes: 12v (mounted on 7865 motor) cone wheels (MS?) - Outer cone 16mm (5 plates) / Inner cone 15mm / Flange 21,4mm (around 7 plates) - the rod hole center is around 6mm from axle center 4,5v (mounted on 107 motor) cone wheels (MS?) - Outer cone 16mm (5 plates) / Inner cone 15mm / Flange 21,4mm (around 7 plates) 4,5v flat traction wheels (used on older 100 motors to grip on rails) - Wheel 17mm (around 5 plates) / Flange 22.4mm (7 plates) wheels used on wagons of Blue era (same as motor ones, flat wheels) - Wheel 16mm (5 plates) / Flange 22.4mm (7 plates) wheels used on wagons of Gray Era - Wheel 16mm (5 plates) / Flange 22.4mm (7 plates) 7750 wheels - Wheel 22mm (around 7plates) / Flange 28.8 (9 plates) The 12v and 4,5v wheels have a smaller flange than wagon wheels and are a bit smaller than old "traction" wheels. But the smaller size is due to the fact that they needed to accomodate the rubber traction band, that brings them again to a diameter of 17mm. I took all these measures since I'm attempting to 3D print those parts I hope it can be useful! Ciao, Davide

Thanks to all - I tried to collect all suggestions!!! Drinking all the coffee was not a good idea!!! -
Great work! I love these locomotives, especially the Ty2! And your Ty6 is amazing! I really like this rolling stock and I've always watched videos on Youtube featuring these machines, one in particular features the Blue Ty2 in heavy snow with a snowplower. Spectacular!!!

Hi all! I want to show you one thing I started drawing in MLCAD years ago, but was finished recently in STUD.IO . It's a diesel maintenance railcar based on TM2/2 83 from Rhatische Bahn (which is a narrow metric gauge, actually). I saw it at Tirano station when I travelled for the first time on the Bernina Bahn. Here it is represented as a normal gauge vehicle, since these kind of tractors can easily be adapted to various gauges. It is powered by a 4,5v motor, mounted under the cabin and moving the front wheels. wheelbase is the same as standard 4,5v/12v two axles wagons. Design is based on Gray Era style "phase II" , as you can tell from yellow doors, all white headlights and parts used for the little hydraulic arm (hinges/levers). As you can see I did not feel right to put the buffers on it, even if it can be not correct from a "reality" point of view. Here's another shot... ...and another one with the little hydraulic arm at work. No power from rails this time, but a normal red battery box wagon will easily do the job! Hope you like it!!! Ciao! [MOC/MOD/BOTH?] Little windup locomotives in "Basic" style
Paperinik77pk replied to Paperinik77pk's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thank you very much for your kind words, Thorsten! I am surely belonging to the "Bauhaus style" . I like clean lines and simple builds, even if I love to find complex details and many many ways to reproduce a shape (especially curved ones). But you know, I'm son of the late 70s - so basically I reason like a Commodore 64 or a Spectrum 48k... in 8 bits! So I've a quite pixelated idea of reality . Basically I would love to have again a train system like 12v and 4,5v...and I add the old Technic sets. They were great toys and gave immediate joy to me. And still do! What I'm trying to achieve is to give that same feeling of toy and the pleasure to have it or to have built it - even if it is not a great creation or if it is not complex. And I'm happy to have found some people getting this particular feeling. I know it won't fit everyone's taste, especially on younger people...but it's ok! Thanks, thanks ,thanks again! Davide -
A masterpiece! I love it - great and original idea!!!

[MOC/MOD/BOTH?] Little windup locomotives in "Basic" style
Paperinik77pk replied to Paperinik77pk's topic in LEGO Train Tech
"Hey lady, there are two more to wind-up!!!" - she seems not so happy! These two above are "poor man's" 7710 and 7810 copies, lowered and simplified. I used to have a fake 7710 in the past, running on a yellow 4,5v motor - I used it as a shunter But the real fun is to build smaller things for immediate action...here we have a copy of the 722 12v locomotive, a generic industrial diesel tractor, a yellow 7ton diesel, a small 7720-inspired "Edelweiss" electric locomotive,a steam tram...and a little "ESSO" Locomotive which was depicted in 242 Idea Book - here made smaller, but with its fake battery box still present. Another shot from a different angle: I hope you like these! In the meantime I found the name of the original post for modding the 890: Ciao! Davide -
Great work! I love its smoothness! I'm curious to see the final locomotive!!!
