  1. Great idea. I hope this becomes successful. I am quite happy to see this happening.
  2. Great. Thanks very much. I know what I ll be reading today.
  3. Hi Tom, I have been trying to keep a similar inventory in Excel. Could you let me know what program you are using to update your inventory and import it into Excel? It would be great if you could show how you proceed to make such list. Thanks so much in advance
  4. I actually have never been able to watch any of the LOTR movies to the end. However, Lego LOTR is the first theme where I bought several times the same set. It is truly the best theme I have ever seen.
  5. Hi Yatkuu, It is unfortunate that I see the tread just now. I am also coming from Belgium and have experienced a few international moves. Basically, I did what was advised to you. I keep track of my sets through Brickstore (it is linked to Bricklink) and get an estimate of my set's value through it. When it comes to the packaging of my bricks, the moving companies know how to do it and I have never experienced any problems. You should really not worry about that. However, If not done, I strongly advise you to take an insurance and estimate appropriately the value of your assets. One of my colleage recently had a his container lost at sea when transferring from the US to France and had underestimated the value of his belongings. While I never experienced a transfer to the US, the shipments have always taken longer than announced mostly because they have to go through clearance. Enjoy Raleigh!
  6. Hello all, I hope this will not be considered as bumping the tread but I figured I would not create a new one. I have just moved to the UK (London area) and I plan to finally have my lego room and gather all my legos that are spread across several locations into one place . The problem is that I do not know any stores that would sell drawer in the country. Ideally, I would be purchasing mid-sized transparent drawers that would be fixed on wooden shelves. The drawers I have found on the internet are either too small (good for nails) or too big (container for towels). Thanks for letting me know the store brands I should be aiming to. Any advises are more than welcome.
  7. Thanks for the review. It is however a bit disappointing you did not include the stickers as I find them important for such set. I really wish I had such sets when I was a kid. I can't imagine how much time I'd have spent on it.
  8. Great comparison. I cannot look at the small eagle anymore! While it did not bother me at first. It looks extremely small now.
  9. Congrats guys! Legocitymann, thanks for having ran this competition. It is always nice to see some nice MODs on an identical theme.
  10. Hi Lasse, Very nice build. Will you include it in one of your large diaporamas? I have the same issue regarding pearl gold. I wish there were more bricks in that color. A 1x1 regular stud could be a nice start.

  12. This is by far the set I am most excited about. You made a great review. I hope it will have hit the stores in June when I am next due to travel.
  13. By reading the title, I did not know what to expect. This is stunning. Thanks for sharing.
  14. I cannot agree more with what has been posted above. Lego has never been as appealing as now. All the lines are coming with amazing sets, Lone Rangers being on the top of my list. The new architectural set is really getting me interested into that line. The latest modular looks tremedeous on the outside. The minifigs of LOTR look awesome. Finally, the recent TGV uses new techniques. I think that now more than ever Lego can appeal quite a large audience. Oh I almost forgot about friends. My step sister is such a fan of that line.
  15. On one hand, one of my best memory as a kid was playing with the lego city airport 10159 (this set had 3 32x32 base plates and two smaller ones). On the other hand, I do not really see the need of base plates today. This is mostly due to their high price and that I tend to prefer having a high piece count for that matter. That being said, I could see their added value for some as they add a lot of playability.
  16. Hi BrickMario, It would have been nice if you included the pictures of the old vs new figs in order to support the debate.
  17. I really love the color scheme you have used. The interior detail is quite realistic. It would have been such a fastidious work to include decals on all these books. I really like what you have made. Any idea on what will be the next building in the Wasabi district?
  18. Wow. Your MOCs are getting bigger and bigger. This is such a great layout you have made. There are so many details worth mentioning: the statue, Trojan's horse, the theater, the tiles, ... I do not think it could have been made in a better way.
  19. jens, this is such a great build. You made such a great use of the technic bricks. So many great techniques in this mini-modular.
  20. My favourite one amongst the ones mentionned is the Grand Emprorium, Fire Brigade comes as a close second. I have to admit that I was not very found of the Pet shop even though it added some diversity. When making my judgements, I am mostly looking at the color scheme of the sets.
  21. I have to admit that I have not been as excited for a line in a long time. There is not a single set of that theme that I do not want to get. Most of all, I am quite happy that they incorporated a train in a licensed line (I know Toys Story had one but, the theme did not appeal me very much). I think however that it would be wise to buy them in the US due to the HUGE price difference between Europe and there. Luckily, I have a trip planned there for June . On a minus note, I am quite disappointed to see that they kept the Western Modular Cuusoo project on hold as it would have perfectly completed the theme.
  22. The views from each one regarding a Sub-Sahara based theme is interesting, and without a doubt, sparked a remarkable debate. On one hand, some of us believe that some additional diversity could be great and we would be happy to see more variety. Especially concerning potential animals (Imagine having elephants, rhinos, cheetahs, lions, zebras, etc.). On the other hand, some think that unfortunately, there is not enough added-value having the African continent more represented into our Lego collection. Some reasons brought were that there is not enough to talk about Africa both on a historic and cultural point of view or that such theme could prove to be such a sensitive topic mostly due to potential violence. Whilst the points are to a certain extend justified, I would not entirely agree as, for instance, the exploration of Africa could already prove to be an excellent theme on an action and historic point of view. Also, architecturally speaking, there are some fascinating buildings. Finally, one of the biggest and exclusive attractions in Africa remains the Safaris. After some thoughts, the theme I could see incorporating a Safari feature would be the friends theme. The reason being that this theme has enhanced Lego’s cultural diversity and does not require as many action features like the other Lego lines. Alternatively, I could see a theme entitled “world discovery” including sets dedicated to the exploration of Africa. Lastly, we really need a Zulu or Maasai minifigure in the next minifig collection .
  23. Thanks a lot for the fantastic review. Is it an impression, or this review was frontpaged a few weeks ago then removed? This set looks great. I initially thought that the price per piece ratio of the architecture sets was above average but this proves otherwise. Like others said, it would have been more accurate to have the set in a reddish color. However, as I did not know the building before, I do not really mind. This review convinced me to acquire the set during my next trip to Europe or the US. Thanks again for the review.
  24. Saying that Africa is not more than a desert is plain wrong . It would be like saying that Netherlands is a flat country with only windmills. There would be much more to offer than a hunting theme. TLG could offer a wildlife theme with Safari. Alternatively or to complete the previous theme, they could offer a tribal theme (Or at least a minifig around that). I also really like the idea of Rriggs to bring such potential theme around the Paris-Dakar. I actually thought this was the right forum as the subtitle of this forum is: “The world we live in” Riggs, I actually agree with you that this might be the biggest challenge for TLG as it could enhance stereotypes. As a matter of fact, besides licensed themes, minifigs kept their standard yellow color. That being said, I believe there are plenty of possibilities. I also think that a theme about Africa could go global and thus not be directed to a niche market.
  25. Hello Everyone, I am wondering why, in your opinion, there has never been an Africa based theme (If we exclude Pharao’s Quest). As far as I can see, over the years, there have been theme covering Latin America (Amazon), North America (Wild West), Asia (Orient Expedition, Ninja, Prince of Persia), Europe (Do I need to specify?), and we even had an arctic theme. However, Africa seems to be forgotten. I could understand that over time, the yellow minifigs may have been contrasting with such theme, however, now that Lego started making Black minifigures, there could be room for a theme covering this continent. Furthermore, when looking at the minifigure collections that have been released over the past few years, this continent seems to have been forgotten once again. Do you think that there would not be sufficient demand for such theme to be created? Or, have we been too used to the yellow minifigs? I am curious to hear about your opinions. I personally think that there is definitely some room for some diversity. On top of that, an Africa-based theme could help us gather many new animals .
