  1. Is this accurate? I mean the price could be accurate but with 42171 having 1643 pieces compared to 1434 for 42141, is it realistic for the next model in the series to lose almost 300 pieces?
  2. I guess you're right in that it could be difficult to remove in some applications, though that is probably true for some already existing elements as well. I see your point. I am just disapointed with the loose fitment when trying to build a sturdy beam construction. Wasn't aware of this specific purpose. It looks like the part is quite common in technic sets as well. It feels a bit too common for it to just be a nice bonus, but who knows.
  3. I wonder when there will be a pin 3L WITH friction ridges with stop? I am a bit underwhelmed by the 3L pin without friction ridges with stop.
  4. I think the W1 looks rather sweet, though it might not have the same elegant body shape as the P1. Very happy LEGO went with the P1 anyway. Who knows, maybe we'll get a 1:8 scale W1 ten years from now? :)
  5. If you compare the front of 42115 to that of the real Sian, you see clear differences. It doesn't feel like that was subject to as much debate as the P1 is. To me the LEGO P1 looks great, though I have yet to see the set in real life.
  6. Very cool. Any hints on a release date for the instructions?
  7. Very impressive indeed. A car I would like to own but likely will not. Well presented and a beautiful designed. Looks great i red. That gearbox looks interesting.
  8. Both are nice models. I must say that the hood looks much better in the profile shot of the New Holland than when viewed from an angle. I think it might have to do with the black pieces at the front of the hood. Would be interesting to see what it would look like all blue. Also I am not too fond of the exhaust of the IH. Looks a bit too bulky. Non the less, you have done a great job with these tractors managing to fit a lot of function into a rather small package. Very well done!
  9. Playing around with the side view slider a bit I feel an argument could be made to move the front axle one stud forward together with the a-pillar mounting points in order to inprove the proportions a bit. I think the absence of a windshield does distort the image a bit and making it so that the profile of the car feels more off than it actually is. Also, I thought right from the beginning seing the bigger wheels introduced with the 42143 Ferrari that LEGO should just have made a larger diameter tire while keeping the old size wheel for these models. Having said that, I do like the overall looks of this new 42172 supercar, even though I can see some of the sculpting of the body isn't quite true to the real P1. I have yet to see the LEGO model in real life though.
  10. Same here. Also in mechanical engieering. I find beauty in shapes as well as in the mechanical solutions and this includes my vision of LEGO models. I know many around here strive to replicate real life models to the smallest detail possible but that is not my thing. Like said, I feel excitement over problem solving within the system constrains. I also don't at all mind all the different colours of LEGO technic elements within a single set even if for display. In short, we all have different views of what is aesthetically pleasing and I believe it has little to do with what one finds mechanicaly interesting.
  11. Well, the matter discussed was weather the Chiron should have been its predecessor Veyron instead because the latter supposedly is a more recognizable car. Same with the Sian vs Aventador. Namedropping random cars is not very relevant in my opinion. I believe the argument was raised that the P1 is a welcome choice for the next 1:8 lego supercar since it is arguably a recognizable car, supposedly more so than the Sian or Chiron (that could have been the arguably more recognizable predecessor Veyron instead). Perfectly on topic I would say.
  12. Well, I myself would much rather own a Chiron than a Veyron or a Sian rather than a Aventador. I'd love to own a GT3 as well. In recent years there have been quite a few more rare models of the 911 released compared to the GT3 RS, but back when the 42056 was released I'm not so sure that was the case.
  13. And here I was thinking the reveal of the next 1:8 supercar would be happening any day now. I guess it is possible they moved the launch date to coincide with the reveal of the actual full sized car.
  14. The P1 is a sweet looking car. Whatever the car is I hope for a nice set of wheels in a neutral colour.
  15. Big letdown with the double bucket. How can it be that there still is no upgrade to the 4700 Bucket after 40(!!) years? Come on LEGO! And we are still waiting on the reintroduction of the medium cylinder sadly.
  16. It definitely shows that you put a lot of thought, effort and time into your models. Keep it up! :)
  17. Very impressive! Your model looks better than the real thing in my opinion. Masterfully done!
  18. So, can't we have a McLaren F1 LM as the next 1:8 car? Wasn't the rumor the next one in the series is going to be orange? :)
  19. I agree. I'd rather see them release a P1 GTR instead then but that is not very likely. None of the newer Mclaren cars look exciting to me.
  20. I have very fond childhood memories involving the 8849 Tractor. I built this tractor many times in different colours and made all kinds of modifications to it including front end loader both pneumatic and manual versions as well as many implements like harrows, plows and trailers.
  21. Very cool. Great to see a design using the new gear box elements. I compared the gear ratios to a 911 GT3 transmission and it looks to be quite close with the exception of reverse gear being a bit too fast. Thanks a lot for sharing the instructions. Good job!
  22. I'm curious, wouldn't it be possible to tilt the whole top of the hood instead and use a regular liftarm for the gray side label? Would smooth out the lines.
  23. Agreed. Very nice model of an interesting vehicle. Top execution as always. Well done!
