  1. I see. Last tractor I drove was a Case IH 5140 a long time ago. I got this picture in my head that you could see the front wheels turning a tiny bit too fast when the four wheel drive was fully engaged. Couldn't find much info on the drivetrain online.
  2. You also want the option to lock the center differential. Then you need to match front and rear tire traction. I believe it's not necessary to be 100% match but still very close.
  3. Very well put. I fully share your concerns. I also think about how in the current world we live in everything comes down to what will give the best ROI at this very moment. Not much thought goes in to the long term environmental costs driven by the need to produce new hardware for example.
  4. This would probably be interesting mechanically, but to me I'd much rather buy a technic model of an exotic supercar. I see pickup trucks everyday IRL. I also look forward to having potential new parts to customize my already existing 1:8 garage with. New wheels, different coloured mudguards for example. Also, while on the topic. I think RacingBrick in his video was a little too quick with dismissing Koenigsegg as potential candidate for a LEGO 1:8 car. They are being built just accross the border from Denmark after all. :)
  5. Not sure how the two motors work together in this application but in essence, if input torque is halved while input speed is the same, you need to gear down output speed to half in order to maintain initial output torque.
  6. So how many LEGO Technic models retailing at $40 works exactly like the real life counterpart?
  7. To look more like a Mustang, it's probably correct to lower the roofline. However, the lower roofline makes the mustang an ugly looking car in my opinion. So, what is the goal with the model? :)
  8. Not very recent set this but I have very fond childhood memories of the 8862 B-model. I've built that Harvester many more times than I've built the Backhoe A-model. It played very well together with my modded 8849 Tractor. :)
  9. This is just beautiful. I'm not a big fan of the real Mustang of later generations but you've managed to improve on it's looks in my opinion. Masterfully done!
  10. Impressive stuff indeed. Well done to all the designers. Time for LEGO to up their game.
  11. Well, I would agree that app control is a bigger issue. Thats why I left it out. I have edited my post to reflect this.
  12. If "colour vomit", licensed sets and no B-models are the biggest issues to deal with for LEGO Technic, I'd argue that we could be doing far worse. App control however, is a much bigger issue I'd say. I can agree to this though. I very much enjoy the fact that set releases are spread out over the entire year rather than being bundled up in two waves like before. Also, there are a lot of new parts being introduced to technic this year, and not just panels but new tires, wheel hubs, frames, gearbox parts as well. I for one also enjoy seing parts in non main colour being sprinkled into sets. Like the 42156 Peugeot having the 7x11 frame in lime for example.
  13. Right. It will be interesting to see what they come up with. Do we have any idea of when the 42168 will be released? Do what you must Lego, just make it happen! :)
  14. A combine harvester with detailed internal funktions would be a mighty flagship model.
  15. Looks very nice! Good work! I think it would benefit from some other colour wheels. No idea of what would look good though. Flat silver maybe?
  16. This is just so cool! Impressive to see you managed to fit that engine in there. The rig looks perfect in speed champion size. I wonder if TLG will ever venture into the truck category with their own line in the future. :) Thanks a lot for sharing!
  17. Agreed. I was mainly thinking of that the list of available candidates for us to speculate about will decrease. :) They might very well start using older cars as template for the future 1:8 series cars though.
  18. With the ever increasing number of supercars without an ICE, the available subjects to choose from will be less and less if these 1:8 scale cars continues using the gearbox parts. Since the previous iterations (except for the Porsche GT3) have been models in the absolute top bracket of the supercar world, my guess this trend will continue. Meaning my vote is for Pagani, Koenigsegg or something in the same realm of exclusivity.
  19. I agree about the weight pieces. And it might just be me being strange but seing many of the larger parts in this set are just thrown into a big box doesn't seem very premium to me. Sure it is better for the environment this way I guess, but still.
  20. Well I have no idea of what is happening on the educational plane. And afford might not have been the right word to explain what I meant before. I guess I meant that before you might have been able to just casually buy whatever LEGO technic set you found interesting once in a while but this is starting to get increasingly difficult if you have other hobbies. However, there are still a lot of cheaper sets on offer today that contains even more new parts and interesting functions than the 42146 Liebherr crane. In my view these expensive sets has not (yet) taken anything away from the smaller more affordable ones. Having said that, who knows what the techinc set lineup will look like in the future. But in my opinion we might very well be living in the golden years of LEGO technic. More sets to choose from than ever before. I don't have the statistics but wouldn't surprise me if the technic sets in retail 2023 contain more parts in different colours and more new parts than it has in many years.
  21. What is happening with LEGO is not unique and is happening in all "collectables" and similar products. Highly recognizable brands have started to cater to the people of this world that has "too much money". In many hobbies people are used to be able to buy any product a company puts out. This is no longer the case and I believe the amount of products in the price bracket above what regular working class people can afford will only increase.
  22. I find that chart quite lackluster. What is the point in including so many sets yet not a single set from the techinc range?
  23. I listened to the whole interview and found it interesting. Sure, topics are talked about here on a regular basis but for me it's nice to have a more coherent discussion without the need to read essays every time. I find some posts on here would benefit of a TL;DR section to be honest.
  24. Not sure of what you mean here. How would it be different to any other clutch gear except for the fact it would have to be 2L wide?
  25. I'd say it makes more sense being introduced in a 1:5 MC due to the fact space is more limited here than in a 1:8 car. But sure, it might very well have been developed with the initial intention to fit it into one of the supercars.
