42160 Audi RS Q e-tron
zoo replied to keymaker's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The new hubs are without break discs. They also cannot be mounted the same way the old ones are on the Ferrari Daytona SP3 for example. So these new ones are not strictly better. Edit: Nevermind, I realize you might be refering to the CV joints only. Sorry. -

I am not so sure about that. If the part that attaches to the wheel is "fixed" to the hub and not removable (like with the current planetary gear hub), you still need a different version if you want the option to include break discs or not. I wouldn't be suprised if we see a new hub introduced with in a 1:8 car in the not too distant future though. -

No matter what product you buy, part of the price goes to marketing. Why would LEGO be any different? -

Soon TLG will recolour the black 2L friction pins pink out of spite. :) I don't mind these different coloured pins either to be honest.- 5,507 replies

zoo replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Ah yes, but this is why there is always going to be a Volvo estate car in the garage as well. :) The point I am trying to make is that to me, just because something is too expensive for me to buy or I have to prioritize other things, doesn't make me want that something any less. Be it a 911 GT3, a house or a lego set. -

Good on you for feeling like this. To me that doesn't make sense. I definitely feel like I'm missing out on something cool when I can't afford a real life Porsche 911 GT3. -

It's not just panels though. I've been thinking about this for a while now. To me it feels like we've started seeing more new parts overall in the technic line. Eager to see if it is the start of a trend or just a temporary thing. I have no numbers backing this up though. I predict that we will see some very interesting new parts for the next 1:8 car.- 5,507 replies

I guess we'll just have to wait till the next pneumatic set but who knows when that will be. :( I'd also like for the small pump to be included in a set soon. Or if LEGO decides to design integrated motor/pump solution that would be fine with me as well. :) Excelent point about the aditional mounting points. A change like that would vastly increase the number of applications for pneumatics in LEGO. The longer cylinders are great ofcourse but there are many places where you need the strength and maneuverability of a 2x2 cylinder but the longer stroke gets in the way. At the moment I'm trying to design some type of linkage to get around this in a model but it costs a lot of time and takes up space. Yes, I know I can buy the old cylinders on the secondary market but that is not really my thing.- 5,507 replies

So, when are the short 2x2 pneumatic cylinders making a return? I miss them very much. :(- 5,507 replies

Technic 2023 Set Discussion
zoo replied to Dami's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I understand what you mean, but what I meant was that refering to a previous rumor and say "if this was true then..." when said rumor is confirmed not to be true, is pointless. But I understand that we probably still haven't got confirmation that the Liebherr crane indeed includes 2 hubs and 7 motors so I realize it is too early to say. -

Since this was nothing more than a rumor, it feels kind of pointless to refer to it. -

How to start on making a car?
zoo replied to d0mka's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
There are quite a few official sets released in various sizes/scales. Maybe examin one of those and borrow some ideas for a start? -
According to the pictures from your io-file that you've posted earlier there's at least one 7L flip-flop visible or am I seeing things? Anyway, you've probably right about the other parts. Hard to tell from the pictures. It just feels like the beams Xx1 actually included are like 2 of each for the most part. Not very impressive for such a large model if that is the case.
