  1. I'm not sure how parents would react to their kid being squirted lol but this would be awesome to pull up and squirt lol Well done @Beck great engineering!
  2. These are excellent ... Would love to see a combine car in this same construction. Also can we get a shot of your coal stove by itself?
  3. so just thinking out loud as I have never "played" with the gyro sensor ... I read your response to Paperinik77pk and I originally was thinking the same way he did. Now I'm wondering if two gyro sensors one in the head engine and one in the tail engine facing opposite (since your train is so short) have a code that is determined by travel direction as to which sensor it uses for data collection. Keep the EV3 in the center car and have it run a servo for each car?
  4. Sorry I tagged you so as to not be miss informed lol. But it was triggered by Thai. Just wanted to be sure you knew engines were the same size reguardless of the guage wheels beneath them. Usually you saw smaller lighter engines on narrow guage and it was common for pictures to show narrow and standard next to each other but the engines are different classes and make the narrow look smaller. This is one of the shipping methods of narrow guage over standard: Appologies if I came off harsh towards you. It's just a muddy hole I've seen many people fall into when guage and scale are concerned. I've seen more confusion and frustration then needed arise out of similar conversations I would recommend against that part for the same reason zepher already listed lol I have used this with success though .. the Axel ends can be tied into the frame
  5. I find issue with this statement ... See below ... @SteamSewnEmpire Guage has to do with wheel spacing not scale ... Unless your basing spacing of the Lego track guage as a means to find your ”scale” A ”standard guage" loco will have wheel spacing to the standard guage (4' 8.5”)(Lego track does fit if you build 10w) However ”narrow guage” was less than standard ... The engines were build to the same construction but ran a narrower wheelset. Many locos were fitted with standard wheelsets then transfered to narrow wheelsets via crane at a transfer station ... Or simply delivered via flat car with narrow wheels mounted. Also engines were also shipped without wheels blocked up on flat cars and transfered to narrow rails on site. (Sourced from various historical US railroad materials) So the "scale” of your loco depends on if you are building with the tracks to the same scale as your loco. 8w is roughly 1:48 scale or ”O” for you model railroad folk. 6w being roughly ”S" or in the Lego community ”L Guage" Sorry for this rant ... It spills over from my model railroad experience where people like to mix guage and scale up Needless to say I have to tell you have done well on your journey to this model ... I've enjoyed watching the progression. How do you plan to couple the tender to the engine though?
  6. I feel like you should make the silos wider ... And add this treatment!
  7. In your scenerio yes. Run two separate hubs with the pass service on the controller and the shuntting using the app so you can customize speeds
  8. Very creative backdrop... Thanks for sharing
  9. Congrats all! This year presented many great and creative builds!
  10. The slanted buck boards on the tender are a nice touch! All in all clean looking and very recognizable.
  11. Tortuga may be a fine place to find more like minded individuals such as ye self that won't threaten to sell you a new neck tie .... Lest you spill their grog that is.
  12. 2 that happens the first run out ... Lol. The public does love some epic brick smashing or too fast in curves crashes lol. @dr_spock looks like a swell layout ... Ive seen photos of your lugs turntable in backgrounds is there a build thread somewhere? Also the crops look really good around the turbines but you should have added maintenence roads to them and a service van lol. Do you have any individual pictures that show the lumber yard better? You should drug test this engineer. Lol I have a functional end of line buffer that I use for my interactive train yard ... It holds up to some abuse (up to 70% throttle) and actually stops trains. It does blow out at full speed though ... If your interested I can share it.
  13. If you are going for this livery dk blue on grey with red safety stripe. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Amtrak_181_with_the_Capitol_Limited_at_Martinsburg,_July_2007.jpg The cars will have the red white blue stripe though. Video shows a "typical" amtrak ... There are several other trains shown https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DbDPR8eFZzDc&ved=2ahUKEwijp7jmmtblAhXlqFkKHdudCr4QwqsBMAt6BAgDEA4&usg=AOvVaw3v2Qm_MYIrNJktBOxz1tEa (None of these links are mine)
  14. Have you built this truck in brick? Would love to see a 360 if you have!
  15. Love this ... Really would buy this over the disney train! Well done sir!
  16. Hopefully this is less large? As far as crusty it is the torso and hat from the Davey Jones fig. The head from one of the ninja figs. The beard is 20+ years old and is purposely dirty lol
  17. From my experience grey with dk blue lettering/stripe or the regular blue white red striping. (At least running from LA to IL and IN in my experience) sorry no pictures though ... There still are a few Metra all blue and red units running up near chicago on the commuter lines though if you wanted to go that route
  18. Is the picture too big? I though I down sized it ....
  19. Recent reports from Tortuga are the former Captain Larvey of The Drunken Monkey has been touting himself as Admiral ... Something of a special assignment from "The Phoenix". Admiral Larvey
  20. I can say your builds are an inspiration ... Even if they never reach final status. It makes one think outside of the box and of better ways to improve. I still have the goal to build working rigging. Because of you ... Still working on a strong enough design myself lol
  21. Will you be "ballastig" with blue tiles? If i missed it my appologies is there a photo of the mouting of the motor? Please post a video of it sailing at the show!
  22. Seeing as im not going to get the renders uploaded for the story side judge it as an event. I will try to get the property licenced by the end of the weekend. As small artisan.
  23. Love these ... Will the step come in yellow? For safety? I personally would be interested in a 60" scale pipe "monkey" wrench and adjustable "crescent" wrench. And a longer welding wip then Lego currently offers. Just a thought 4' "spud bars" for rerailing might look cool although you can model with a standard 6l bar
  24. @Kai NRG Yes these are extreamely common on older brick buildings that have a lot of sheer load to keep the walls from buckling. A common variant here in the states was the 5 point star or Fleur-de-lis in more french influenced architecture. See examples here @Maxim I The roof really looks sharp ... I actually prefer this look to the more common garage door roof as it gives good texture. The sloted bricks work well in this manner as well really stands out as decorative architecture. Well done Any chance you took a rear view of the roof structure?
