  1. I personally use 4DBrix their stuff is directly compatible with Lego. They have a good selection of switches that operate the same way as the lego. I can run my pnumatic switch on them ... Could not do that with Trix.
  2. You won the banner contest.
  3. I have fond memories of the Circus. It was always an event that you didn't miss. I was fortunate enough that not only did I see Barnum's Troup I got to see several other smaller circus acts that would travel through our neck of the woods. The big top was always a spectacular thing to watch. I've wanted to build a circus train for some time now. I recently got ahold of several pictures of the early days of the Cole Bros. Circus loading and unloading. So I took to building. Mind you this is not a full train as they would have upward of 50 to 80 cars but I wanted something to represent them all in a smaller package! To give a brief history the animals would always be directly behind the engine as it was the smoothest ride. The Elephants cars were always taller than the others. There were two types of horses in a circus. The show horses and the work horses would be behind the Elephants. The menagerie animals would be transported in their cages on smaller shows then given "Yard time" at the lot. I've included some iconic menagerie animals that Lego produces. Black panther, monkeys, black bear, tiger, and the lion. What circus is complete without a Calliope? This would have been train whistles with a keyboard. Then loaded with some "picture wagons" these would hold props and costumes and have a painted picture on the side. (Custom decal). Then the meat and potatoes. The work wagons these would hold the tents and other supplies. I've build an early work truck (a mix of a Mack and a Pierce) Finally bringing up the rear would be the entertainers I've built a custom baggage and two sleepers (no interiors) to represent these. Some circus trains would have up to 20 of these cars. As circus was hauled as freight the railroad would always tie a caboose on the back. (The ladders will be curved onto the the roof with some inserted brass.) Hope you enjoyed the train ... I'm not sure when I will get her in brick as she is over 9000 bricks and I'm trying to convert to MILS Comments and Criticism welcomed!
  4. Thanks ... To many irons in the fire ... My building has been solely focused on my show displays as my time has been limited. We lost half our maintenance department several months ago leaving the remaining 4 of us with experience to train the other 20 new employees. Needless to say it's been heactic - they cut OT in the company but somehow I'm still working 70 hr weeks
  5. Will you be installing block controls?
  6. Dear Tournament Chairman - It is with a sad note that I write today. The Charlatan Bay Inferno's will be unable to attend this year. The civil unrest that has been devistating our town has caused the team to be dissolved. With a new hope on the horizon we hope to restore the team next year. Gustaf VonBricktin Governor Charlatan Bay Dec 619
  7. I would tend to agree ... The rear wall should have more slope. The green black looks good I remember the crossbone having green inserts ... Have you done the swap trick? Excited to see what you come up with
  8. Well without stabilizers employed that would be unsafe operation and they would write you up for a safety violation lmao ... That's awesome that they are functional though!
  9. I love the way you've managed the sheave blocks. The double headache is a nice touch as well (that's double hook for those of us who have never been smacked with one of these by a operator) I will be borrowing ideas and modifying my design ... The lead weights do they actually counterbalance or just for show?
  10. Well my father is well off ... But I work for a living ... Unless the unforseen happens option 1 is out .... If you get lucky enough with option 2 can you send her sister my way lol
  11. So this conversation began in a pm but It could be a benefit as an open discussion. If your not familiar with MILS then check it out here. So we all know MILS is parts intensive ... However it makes a nice sturdy base that can be packed up and taken from show to show. I have two tables for my interactive train yard to sit on. I need 56 32x32 bases so I plugged this into LDD to give me a BOM. I then plugged this into bricklink. It's roughly 1000 dollars worth of bricks and plates and I haven't even ballasted the track yet .... So educate me oh masters of MILS. What are the tips and tricks on not breaking the bank just on everything below the tracks lol
  12. I fail to see how this relates to this amazing Italian railcar ... Perhaps making a new thread instead of trying to hy-jack this would be better! PS. Google is your friend there are several MOCs of that popular train.
  13. So building on what was already mentioned ... A geared bogie powering colored 2L pin connectors If it sees rby it knows it's going forward If it sees ryb it knows it's going reverse The amount that it cycles could interpret speed and correlate to degrees of tilt needed.
  14. Holiday train was on sale ... Picked it up finally lol
  15. Here's my thoughts ... I love the contest ... But seemingly everything I could enter I've already posted before the cutoff lol. If there was a way to know even a month earlier ... That would be helpful. I like that your willing to extend the deadline ... Even if I wasn't able to compete this year (Again lol, I have two shows I prep for that parallel the contest).
  16. Oh it's a little nerve racking ... but if you keep your fingers crossed and ready over the all stop button in the upper right of the API then all is well. A couple times I had to grab the engine when the decouple was hit with no cars on it (90% motor power as opposed to the 28% it normally ran on. The buffer stops are quite functional though and a couple times did get hit they pop up when hit but stop an engine at 90%.
  17. Congrats your train made front page news!
  18. Paperinik77pk has created this lovely Italian Diesel modeled after the Automotrice Leggera NAFTA - 668. Get your ticket and check this out today!
  19. Congrats this is a magnificent ship!
  20. Bodi brings us this grand 36-gun frigate "le Hussard" as part of the Brethren of the Brick Seas RPG in the Pirate Forum. So Trim To and Make Way over to His Thread Post Haste!
  21. Seen this while browsing ... I know there are a few here still holding on two the 12v stuff
  22. Very nice indeed ... I was wondering what was with the COR flag until I read the text well done.
