Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion
Fenghuang0296 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Are there, though? I’m sure we’d all love a D2C Pym Laboratories suitcase skyscraper, but the only thing I can think of from the first two movies that could make a good set is the fight atop the toy train between Ant-Man and Yellowjacket. And even then, that was Thomas the Tank Engine. There might be a branding conflict there. Admittedly we have no idea what Quantumania’s all about, so I agree that multiple sets would be nice. But in terms of builds I don’t feel like anything’s really missing from the movies . . of course that’s not true for the minifigures, there are so many characters we need, but most of them can be made with customs fairly easily. -

. . . Huh. The one time I wanted them to do a giant vehicle rather than a terrain build. Oh well. I’m shocked by that piece count? I guess a lot of parts went into that checkerboard ground texture. It does not look like an 1100-piece sermon size alone. I’m glad they included Eggman, though I was really hoping for Tails and Knuckles - but I’m not giving up yet! There are exposed pins on the end of the set, which means there’s some hope for an expansion set coming later on that might connect to it! Fingers crossed! -
Oh, also, wasn’t there supposed to be some kind of Training Grounds set or something? Because I’m seeing a couple of very conspicuous Technic pinholes in that temple that look like things should be able to attach to them. Think it’ll be a retail exclusive?

High quality pictures, finally! . . honestly, this wave gets a big ol’ meh from me overall. The new dragon for Jay is possibly the ugliest official model I’ve ever seen, at least from the angles it’s shown at, and Kai’s dragon isn’t much better. I actually like Lloyd’s dragon, but I’ve still got my custom fused 2017 Lloyd Dragon that I augmented with the wings of the 2016 NRG Dragon so in terms of display value any Lloyd dragon looks redundant next to that. Jay car, Lloyd car, seen it all before. Zane mech? Kinda cute but I really don’t like those new forty-five-degree pieces they’re using for the limbs. 4+ Mech is 4+ and enough said. The two big ones are the interesting ones. Since the theme’s beginning I’ve fantasised about having some kind of big combining mech for the ninjas. In 2012 eleven-year-old me tried to slap together all the ninja vehicles into a poorly thought out totem pole war machine. And now it’s finally happening . . what is up with those arms? It has little extra arms from Kai’s mech and I don’t know why and I hate it they look so out of place it just ruins the whole look! Ahem. Besides that, it’s actually great. I don’t really see Jay’s part except on the shoulders, I assume his jet is forming most of the back of the mech. I’m not crazy about the drill hands but I get that they were doing the Earth Driller thing again. (Even though IMO they should have reversed it, put the drills on the shoulders and given it hands at the back - might modify mine to do just that.) I definitely want to see how the components look all separated - and in all honestly I’m still holding out hope that either Lloyd’s car or dragon will be able to combine with it for an extra final form somehow? Probably not gonna happen but it’d be lit. Finally, the temple. It . . well, it’s a temple. Temples are gonna be temples. It’s not a bad temple? Just sort of feels . . bland. Thrilled about the Pixal/Samurai X figure included though! We finally get Pixal’s wig! If absolutely nothing else I’m BNPing that. Last thing to note; there are a lot of new armour parts scattered over literally everything. Mech chestplates and shoulder plates? That’s weird. I wonder why they went to the trouble of making so many new pieces?

Wait did they really make a brand new tile as a ‘fried egg’ piece? I didn’t notice at first, that . . huh. That’s interesting and more than a little weird. -

The first Ninjago set has appeared! It’s, uh . . a Speed Champions style rally car for Jay versus the pirate snake helicopter? NGL I’m looking at this thing’s orange colour scheme and thinking “Is this some weird Skybound Legacy stuff?” and then I noticed the snakes. Also . . Nya’s included with a new outfit???? Guess she hasn’t been written off quite yet. -

New pictures holy crap moonbase moonbase looks awesome! Ahem, in all seriousness; we’ve got a hospital that I initially mistook for a gas station (it has this weird ‘over-the-road’ elevated segment for reasons) and a police station, both integrated with the road plates. A new ‘mobile police base’, which looks even worse than the last couple because it has a flatbed containing a 4x4 buggy integrated, a 4+ fire helicopter, and MOONBASE MOONBASE I LOVE THE MOONBASE. -

Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

So, just to be clear, the new Iron Man is supposed to be Mark 42, right? That actually makes me more excited for this figure; I recently got a preowned copy of the Extremis Showdown and found that the Mark 42 figure that it was supposed to come with had been substituted for an off-brand knockoff, so my Hall of Armour’s sorely missing that suit. A brand new Mark 42 is good news for me! Fingers crossed it appears in other sets later so I don’t have to buy that Mech. -
Yeah same . . I really hope it’s not all space stuff though. The finale of last season said that this season would be Journey to the West, not Journey to the Moon.

Super Mario 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
Fenghuang0296 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I’m not a Luigi’s mansion fan, but these do look interesting. Is this all we’re getting for the January wave of Mario content? Bit strange but interesting enough that I still want it! I really hope this opens the floodgates for sets that aren’t just based off the various Mario platformers. I’d really love at least one set based on Super Mario Galaxy (don’t mention the bee suit that doesn’t count). Even including Rosalina, hopefully? I’d also kinda love sets based on Mario Party or Mario Odyssey - and how do we not have Mario Kart sets yet? -
So far we’re getting news and leaks regarding sets with a January release date. Monkie Kid 1HY sets have consistently released in March. This is normal. Of course, if January comes and we still haven’t heard anything, then we can worry. But considering the TV show’s supposedly going to continue until 2023 at least, I think we’re safe.

LEGO Ninjago 2021

Yep. The two ‘base’ and ‘monastery’ sets are modular in that they’re comprised of segments that can be interchanged and swapped around. Kinda like waaaaay back in 2011 with the original Monastery Training set, that one Skeleton Bowling, and the tiny Cole Archery Training thing that could all be put together. They’re not Ninjago City or anything of the sort. -

Okay, saw the list, and . . huh. Are the ‘EVO’ sets going to be the new Legacy stuff? Because . . call me crazy, but as a PR/Sentai fan I’ve been dreaming about having some kind of Ninjago Megazord for the last decade. And with the ‘Ultra Combo Ninja Mech’, the name sounds . . meh but it sounds like my dreams might finally be coming true! Then, it’s equally noteworthy that so many of the vehicle sets have ‘EVO’ in their name rather than ‘Legacy’. This is probably much too optimistic, but what if the ‘EVO’ means that they cause the big Mech to evolve . . by combining with it? I’m probably going to be disappointed. But I really can’t wait for pictures and descriptions now. -
Where did you see Chinese New Year sets on clearance, ever? I’ve regularly had a near impossible time trying to get those for a good price. It sounds like that store might be an outlier.

Winter Village Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Fenghuang0296 replied to Gearslover01's topic in LEGO Town
Aw, man! It’s not built on a standard grid like most of the previous sets have been, it’s got A-wedges and hinges making it angled? Damnit. That’s going to make it way too hard to integrate into my city . . guess I’ll have to pass on this one, take the pressure off my wallet. Oh well . . -
What colour swapped sets are these?

This looks to me like gunmetal smeared with blue dye. Weird. I’d have said gunmetal with dark blue print but I’ll reserve judgement until we actually see her in What If…? because they might have changed her design. -

LEGO Ninjago 2021

I don’t know about that video but there’s a different list on Instagram; Samurai XL Mech, Samurai Dragon, Samurai’s Temple, Kai’s speeder bike and Pixal’s Modified Storm Fighter. I’m iffy, since it seems weird for them to do what sounds like Samurai X stuff after what happened to Nya last season, and if the new Storm Fighter is Pixal’s then maybe the samurai stuff would be the villains? Not sure I buy it though. Regarding the above video, it seems more likely given the abundance of ninja vehicles listed (unfortunately), but it’s also unlikely that they’d do another big Zane Mech. I could see a 4+ Zane mech, but . . eh, guess we’ll find out. -

Y’now the more I look at Gideon’s Cruiser, the more I dislike it. Jang’s review really showed me the ugly sides of that model. I’m not so sure I want it now.
