  1. The correct answer is obviously to leave the turtle bits on, configure it into the ‘flying’ version we see on the back of the box, and use trans-clear bricks to suspend them above the city. Perhaps surrounded by clouds and rainbows.
  2. As an Australian, mood. The Treehouse is also awful; $105 USD is a good price, but I don’t see how that translates to $180 AUD. I was so hyped for this theme, but with prices like this I’m probably going to have to wait until it all goes on clearance or Christmas sales or similar. Disappointing . .
  3. My gods, if Brickset is accurate these prices are really not good. The mid-sized sets; Crocodile Car, Turtle Van, Pegasus and Stable are egregious. I hope this is going to be wide distribution (not limited like Monkie Kid has become) so that we can see some large discounts or clearances eventually. I can’t see myself paying full price for anything here. Wow. Hope this gets better next wave . . then again, Ninjago got painfully expensive too recently . .
  4. The starting wave has leaked! Everything except the ‘Z-Blob and Bunchu’ polybag, it seems. These are all gorgeous. I have no idea what I could possibly do with most of them, but the treehouse is great, the vehicles are great, Z-Blob the Robot is epic, the Nightmare Shark Ship is bonkers in the best way. I can’t wait to get up-close pictures of the minifigures, especially the racer outfit one that looks to be exclusive to the Racecar-codile. A big recurring theme seems to be ‘fantasy versions of the characters rescuing real-world versions of themselves from monsters’, it seems like almost every set has some kind of cage or something trapping an ‘ordinary civilian’-looking figure, and some of them are identifiable as the same main characters sans dream gear. That’s a great way to give us both versions of each character, I approve!
  5. We’re finally getting a Mei dragon! Yes! Yes! I’ve been waiting for this! It’s gorgeous, too! Equally thrilled by the Dragon Palace, I’ve been hoping that Monkie Kid would do a version of that and even though the images are blurry it does not disappoint!
  6. Everyone else is seeing that new Main Street thing too, right? With the pizza place and the four-floor-tall hotel? That . . holy crap, that might be the best City set in the past decade. It’s gorgeous. I love it. I don’t know that I’ll have space for it, but I’m definitely going to try to find some. I also like the Eco-Friendly House and the Car Wash. Fingers crossed their prices are reasonable. And then there’s the Ski Jump building. That . . wow. That’s impressive. I won’t get it because I have no idea what I’d do with it, but I really like that it exists. Bit meh on the convenience store, but it’s still pretty cute. Also, another skate park; did we really need another skate park after Friends released one earlier this same year? More Ocean and Arctic junk. Same old, same old. I do like the Hammerhead Shark and the turtles, though. The large submarine looks like a pretty cool design too.
  7. Random thought; everyone’s seeing the Donkey Kong sets for Mario, right, especially the minecart track? That minecart looks like it’s a new and dual-moulded piece. Are we thinking there’s any chance it might also be used for Gringotts’ minecarts, to be big enough to accomodate Hagrid?
  8. Oh hey, there’s a giant mech version of Harry’s Patronus. I’m probably going to get that so that my giant robots can fight or combine with it. I feel like that one’s going to fail as a collector’s piece, but when it goes on discount I will happily buy it as a parts pack.
  9. After this episode, I think Olly became my favourite character in the reboot. He’s great.
  10. This is adorable. I love it and I might build my own version of that little single-seater jet to accomodate one of my Spacebabies.
  11. I actually like all of these. It’s hard to tell but I think there are at least two more rooms behind the wall in the Egyptian temple. Even if there aren’t I’ll still get it because I love any and all Egyptian stuff. Plane and car . . is a plane and car. Bit of a meh since I still have my OG Henry Jones figure from fifteen years ago but it’s cute so I might get it. And the Temple of Doom is sort of gorgeous. It’s not perfect but I still want it. Not sure where I’ll put it but I want it.
  12. Well I just got and finished the new Hulkbuster. It’s actually a great design. The review made it seem like it was balanced horribly, but as long as you keep the ankles leaning as far forwards as possible it looks totally fine. Definitely going in my Hall of Armour. Must resist urge to take apart the 2018 one and use the pieces to mod this one. Also, I now have all three of the sets that have ever included Okoye, and I love that the new figure is red and the old one was orange, because the Dora Milaje had Okoye in orange and her subordinates in red. So now (with one orange and two red) I have a three-person Dora Milaje to guard the Black Panther. Which looks really good for filling the deck space on that boat. Now give us a Dora Milaje battle pack, LEGO.
  13. The only ones I’m committed to are Unity Street - because there is a very awkward open space in my city layout right next to a wall and that odd 22-wide footprint (once I take off the extra little bit at the side) is perfect to fill it, and I’ll find somewhere else to put the other two modules - and also the little dog rescue set, just as an add-on to Unity Street. Possibly a weird flex, but I’m actually considering getting the Modern School to convert into a barracks for my city’s military base. Hardly committed though, it’d take a lot of modding. Most of the rest don’t interest me. Autumn’s House is cute but too wide and not tall enough to feel like it’s an efficient use of layout space to me, so . . maybe if it goes on a good discount.
  14. I just really want to please, please, finally get Amy, Tails, Knuckles and Shadow. Hopefully also the likes of Rouge, Blaze, Silver, etc later on. I’ve been waiting since LEGO Dimensions in 2017 . . I know it’s all but guaranteed but I’m afraid to hope . .
  15. So we know the promotion for the Blacktron GWP is going live on Jan 1, but do we know which regions it’s in? Will it be available in AUS? Sometimes they delay these GWPs in my region.
  16. Oh that’s interesting. Good to know! That makes me like the part more. It looks like a standard clip with bar holder would fit, but they didn’t do that so I wonder if they’re saving budget for a new prosthetic hand piece in a future wave?
  17. I would dearly love to get Super Mario Galaxy sets. We need Rosalina! And Lumas!
  18. Can anyone tell if it’s a new Iron Man variant or repeated from the Armoury? I’m blind.
  19. Well, it’s official. Katsushika Hokusai’s most famous work, The Great Wave of Kanagawa, is becoming part of LEGO’s Art line! For those who don’t know (like I wouldn’t if not for Fate/Grand Order), Hokusai is a famous artist who practiced the ukiyo-e tradition, and The Great Wave of Kanagawa is the most famous artwork in his series; Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji. It’s a great pick on LEGO’s part because he’s basically the Japanese Vincent Van Gogh. (Side note, considering that both Van Gogh’s De Sterrenacht and Hokusai’s Great Wave of Kanagawa have now appeared in both LEGO and F/GO, I’m wondering if someone on the team also plays that game.) Either way, Hokusai is one of my favourite characters so even if I don’t usually pay much attention to the Art theme I’m probably going to get this just out of loyalty.
  20. Came here to say the same thing; that’s the helmet and air tanks in purple we need to complete the Purple Classic Spaceman for whom we got a torso in the recent CMF! Yay! After this, all we need is the helmet in grey and green (it bugs me that my Grey and Green Spacemen are using the racer helmet, it doesn’t match), air tanks in grey, and a non-scuffed, not-Benny, Blue Classic Spaceman torso to match the not-broken helmet we got back in the Gamer’s Market Ninjago set. (And an updated Black Classic Spaceman torso to go with the black helmet we got in the Mickey & Minnie set.) It’s all coming together! . . Probably just going to part out the purple helmet and air tanks through BnP or Bricklink, I don’t really want that whole set . .
  21. New Monkey King Mech? . . I have the original one I don’t need this . . I don’t right? . . I’m still gonna get it aren’t I I’m a sucker for an awesome looking Mech . . Also, not sure about the other two, but holy crap is that a LEGO Ganesha?!
  22. I’m not saying being gay is a disability at all. I just feel like LEGO’s reluctant to offend homo/transphobes by including LGBT representation, for fear that those demographics might boycott the line and hurt their profit margins. And it’s possible, I’d love to be proven wrong, but the fact that nothing of the sort was mentioned in any of the character biographies means I’m not hopeful.
  23. I don’t want to be salty, because this genuinely does look good. But for a minute I dared to hope that with this new focus on inclusivity they might have at least one character representing the gender spectrum or at the very least being openly homosexual. But no. Nothing. Because god help us if people have any excuse to think that LEGO might be ‘corrupting their children’ by teaching them that it’s okay not to be pigeonholed into the gender identity you were born with or to explore anything other than good old heterosexuality. I guess there’s still some hope that one of the new kids will have a character arc involving coming out of the closet in some way (Leo in particular looks very androgynous and I mistook him for a girl before reading the names) but I’m not optimistic . . I don’t mean to be salty. This honestly does look good. But I can’t help feeling like the fact that LEGO is emphasising racial and cultural differences, as well as disabilities, while as far as I can see totally ignoring the more ‘controversial’ type of disability, makes this whole thing feel . . insincere to me,
  24. TECHNIC Spider-Buggy when?
  25. Hold on, what? The reason this thing looks so dumb is because they want you to also buy a separate set, the junky buildable Iron Man figure, and put it inside this one? This stupid, exaggerated price and they can’t even include the full set? WTF, LEGO. I don’t know who’s running this show but they need to be replaced.
