  1. Has anyone come up with any creative ideas regarding what to do with these torsos and their gorgeous variant on the Classic Space logo? https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=973pb5500c01&idColor=153#T=C&C=153 Or, for that matter, any of the surprisingly wide diversity of variants on Classic Space we’ve been getting recently. From different colours thereof, to Mr. Oz’ Dreamchaser variant in DREAMzzz, we even got a harness with a ‘space mining’ variant ages ago.
  2. I can’t quite tell from the pictures; how offset is Brick Cross Station from the baseplate of the Modular? I have a line of track running behind some Modulars with three studs of overlap. If I can’t make that work I have no interest, but if I can then I’m excited.
  3. I appreciate what you’re saying, but looking at Ninjago and CNY we already get plenty of Asian buildings, too. Personally I’d really love to see a Modular building that accommodates some Indian architecture. Also, didn’t we already sort of get a radio station on the top floor of the Downtown Diner? And given how frequently we get City and Friends hospitals I don’t think a Modular one is urgently required - I recently got a preowned edition of the 2018 City Hospital from a yard sale in mostly good condition, restored and modified it a bit, and it looks excellent among the Modulars. (Though that might just be the windows that are big enough to let me actually see the interior from outside, which I love and wish would happen more.) Completely down for a TV Studio though.
  4. Thanks for the interest! I’m getting the CNY Family Reunion restaurant literally today, so give me a day or two to put it together and get it installed then I’ll share!
  5. I’m in a somewhat hairy spot where I’ve pulled back the water from the ‘front’ of my Ninjago City (which currently consists of the Docks split in two and used as end modules, the Gardens, and a custom ‘harbour berth’ inside corner module. I’m in the process of merging the new CNY Family Reunion set with the 16x32 part of the Docks that has Mystake’s Tea Shop after moving them all onto a slightly longer table, and have the Titanium shrine adjacent to my custom Harbour and the Docks’ Tea Shop (with a walkway extended across the Harbour to connect to the Shrine, which will be turned into a complete loop once I’ve added the Reunion restaurant to it). This has left me with an approximately 25x16 stud space next to the Titanium shrine at the corner of the table that I’m not sure what to do with, and adding the Dragonstone Temple as a second island there is tempting since it looks about the right size. Since I’ve effectively designated the entire ‘water’ side of the table, with the Docks and the Harbour, as a shipping port, putting the Temple there would block egress from the port (and be hanging over the edge of the table). If anyone’s curious, I’d be happy to share pictures. . . though, actually, hey. The Docks and Harbour are effectively forming two berths with a space in between them. If I redo that area carefully enough and give it the necessary support, I just might be able to make Dragonstone serve as a sort of giant lighthouse statue that frames the harbour, with the internal water area being contextualised as a sort of tide pool. That could be really cool.
  6. The special base that they sent out to some reviewers is absolutely gorgeous and I really wish it was part of the set. I’m so tempted to try to make something similar on my own and add this to Ninjago City that way. Would it be too gaudy and crowded next to the Gardens’ Titanium Ninja memorial?
  7. I just hope this one has more than a single airlock. I really want to build some kind of modular complex, but both the City and Friends Mars stations are ‘endpoints’ with only one airlock to connect to other things. I’m dreaming of a large combined space base, but at this rate I’m going to need to MOC some kind of central hub to attach everything else to.
  8. Yeah, I agree. The coursebuilder sets are a lot of fun. A CMF is probably the best way to give us the figures everyone’s been demanding (including characters that would be really weird to get in the course system like Rosalina and Daisy), without losing what makes this theme uniquely fun.
  9. I suspect Brick Bank will always be my favourite, the masonwork is just so gorgeous and the colours so tasteful. I’ll be very surprised and impressed if they ever manage to top it.
  10. I’m convinced that the next colour we’re going to get is Royal Blue. Or whatever we call the colour they use for ice in Minecraft. It’s the only colour from Everyone Is Awesome that they haven’t done yet (if we ignore the slight disparity between Green and Bright Green), and they seem to have run out of primary colours to do. I’m also still waiting and hoping for a new version of Black, and a Blue torso without Benny scuff marks. (But I’ve almost given up on that after this many years . .)
  11. Seriously? A whole space themed CMF and no new Classic Spaceman colour? I mean, I’ll take the Pink Spacebaby, but I’m still kinda disappointed.
  12. Honestly half the reason I was excited for this mech was because I was hoping that it would be a design that I could convert into a robo-size Eggman mech . . and I’m happy to say it looks like it’ll suit that purpose. Definitely going to have to completely redo the head and lower arms, but it has a particular menace to it and I like what I see.
  13. Okay, found new pictures showing the alternate builds. Unsurprising but good; Mateo’s buggy can be rebuilt into Z-Blob’s drone that appears quite frequently in the show. Surprised this is being billed as the B-model but whatever. This is likely going to be popular just for that fact. Izzy’s Narwhal Balloon gets better and better; it can be rebuilt into some kind of PAC-Man chariot? It’s wacky and I love it. Mr. Oz’s Car, unsurprisingly, has his real-world ‘high school teacher car’ as the base model, and can be upgraded into either the flying car or a six-wheeled moon rover. Which solidifies his theme as ‘upgrading real-world vehicles with space elements’, as opposed to the others’ more fantastical inclinations. Zian . . wow, that is a very ugly and unfinished base. They really did not handle his face well. Alternate build turns him into some kind of peacock cat? Not really a fan. (Well, it is, really, a fan. :P ) Lastly, Sandman’s Tower can be reconfigured into some kind of larger factory looking thing? I’d need to see the respective interiors before judging this one but it does look very B-model-ish. Less interesting than the base model to me, just because I like it when buildings go tall over wide. Still looks pretty good, mind. Definitely getting this one.
  14. Completely agreed. I am a city builder, but I like to think of my city as being primarily a backdrop for the ‘interesting stories’ like superheroes and ghosts and etcetera. I like these space sets, but I don’t think I’ll get any of them; they just aren’t what I need. The ‘Great Vehicles’, as usual, are not so great. Hope there are some buildings coming.
  15. Wow. So many mechs, and they’re all so boring? The figures, too - Arin is literally last year’s figure but with a gold mask. Sora is exactly the same as last year, too? Why? These two are supposed to be the new main characters, right? At least Wyldfyre got a new look. Also, I am very curious about that exclusive ‘Climber Kai’ variant? Egalt looks awesome. Never thought I needed a Sensei dragon but they make it work. Him and Cole’s mech are the clear standouts . . honestly, Cole’s mech is the only one of this massive line of mechs that I care about? All the others are just so dull. Overall I am disappointed, because somehow we got five mechs in a wave and not a single one of them was a large-scale titan type mech? How? Why? This wave feels like filler. A couple of standouts but by and large disappointing. Oh, and we don’t have proper images of the ‘gimmick’ sets so I’ll reserve judgement until I see those.
  16. I. Um. I really expected that there was a mistranslation and that it would be Knuckles and Rouge fighting an Eggman mech, not . . whatever this is? I mean. I’ll get it, and probably mod/rebuild the mech into something else . . but why does this exist?
  17. Gotta say, I was expecting more from finally having a Mei mech. Been waiting for it for years, but this . . this isn’t what I was waiting for. And the less said about that weird shrunken Monkie Mech, the better - though I do like that it includes a cloud. I am very curious about the absence of visible villains, though? Are they just cropped out? I’m going to be very annoyed if it turns out that a big set like Mei’s mech only comes with MK and Mei and some generic brick-built maintenance robots (I think that’s what those are).
  18. Considering getting the Dragon Palace since Insider weekend is putting it at 20% off, but concerned about space. Can anyone confirm how wide it is in studs with the front sections opened?
  19. There’s a picture floating around of a size comparison with the Avengers Tower and other Modulars. My god this thing is massive. https://www.instagram.com/p/CzblLNcIxT1/?img_index=1
  20. I still find it real t weird that Stephanie, the ‘sporty’ girl, went into politics rather than becoming a professional athlete. Then again, maybe she had a career as an athlete, retired and used her fame to pivot into an election campaign.
  21. Completely agreed. I’m eyeing the houses and the hospital; the City Hospital’s been on my list for a while, but it’s just so awkwardly designed that I’ve never been able to find the space to justify buying it. This one looks like a vast improvement in that respect.
  22. Megalopolis looks great, and definitely compatible with the City of Lanterns - in several ways, it seems, since Bone Demon’s shop has stairs there that seem pointless unless they’re used to bridge the gap between the two-storey-tall CoL with the three-storey-tall Megalopolis. But, but I have to ask . . why is there snow at the base of the thing? Literally, why? It clashes so much, it’s so unnecessary, having a random snowdrift looks so out of place . . even if it’s supposed to be clouds, that still doesn’t make any sense . . why?
  23. Well, it’s not a Modular. Sadge. But this Family Reunion restaurant thing does look absolutely gorgeous. I spy new fence pieces, with circles set into them, a gorgeous new dragon costume head mold - gonna buy this set just for that - and some really appealing architecture. It looks like someone took the noodle restaurant from City of Lanterns and blew it up to Modular scale and complexity. It looks like the footprint is 36 wide, 16 deep, if anyone wants to try a Modular conversion or figuring out where in their city to put it. It also seems like the base is three plates thick, which is strange but interesting since that’s the exact right height to easily pair it with Ninjago City’s style of water and add it to Ninjago. (Which I’m definitely gonna at least try.)
  24. Question for anyone with experience. I’ve been redoing and extending my (fairly simple) loop of track around my city layout, but I’ve run into a problem; there’s a five stud long gap where I’m trying to connect up the last curve. It’s happened because one side of the loop is straight and runs around the back of the layout, but the other side curves around a bit. This is . . awkward. I could use a single piece of flex track to cover four studs of it, but it still won’t go together neatly. Does anyone have any ideas? I know there are sellers that make custom track length parts, but I live in Australia and I’d rather not pay those shipping costs . .
  25. The Spring Lantern Festival basically is a Modular, just as a garden rather than a building. A Modular Garden. If they actually were to make a 16-wide CNY-inspired Modular, I would 100% buy it. (I could see it happening too, to appeal to anyone buying the Museum who doesn’t already have Assembly Square and thus will have their Modular street offset by half a baseplate.) Love that thought!
