  1. Fixed. Thanks, I have an ugly tendency to mix up both...
  2. @Wellesley Welcome to BotBS in general, and the best of its factions in particular! I think you should choose a settlement as "starting point" that best works for your characters backstory: a noble would best work from Arlinsport or King's Harbour (i.e. well-established "civilised" cities) somebody looking for adventures has a good start in Mesabi Landing or Jameston (more in the "outback", close to undiscovered areas of the game) In the end it does not matter too much, since you can always let your main character travel - or make up another character for a different location. You are not at all restrictd to one character or a single location for building! In terms of "building activity", I would rate the top 3 Corrington settlements as follows: Mesabi Landing: without doubt the fastest growing settlement in the game (over all factions), albeit mostly built by just two players. Your go-to address for adventure and mildly outlaw-ish activities. Jameston: another large settlement, and furthest in the East (so far). Located on a large and mostly undiscovered island, you could set up an adventurers base of operations here. King's Harbour: Smaller than the other two, but shares its island with Quinnsville, another settlement with solid activity. Both are connected by a railway, so you can easily switch characters from one to the other - with a surrounding island that is again largely undiscovered. If you want to jump into the EGS and feel like you lack money for investments: Corrington has the Bank of Corrington Pioneer Loan Scheme I offer rewards for certain types of builds each month in the "WTC Monthly" (October and November for reference, check the last page) Just my two dubloons.
  3. Merrynight Mini-Challenge With another year coming to its end, minifigs near and far prepare for the celebration of Merrynight. Most of them have their very personal ways to these festivities, depending on their character, past experiences and traditions known to them. Tell a story about at least one of your characters celebrating Merrynight, and illustrate it with a build! Tell about your characters motivation and/or history to celebrate just the way it does. The build can be located anywhere in the Brick Seas - you are not restricted to land-based properties licensable for the EGS. The celebrations could be held in the Old World, on a ship, or on the beach of a currently uninhabited island! Feel free to interpret this in creative ways. In case of any questions, either ask in this thread or PM me directly. This mini-challenge will run from the 1st of December 2018 to the 6th of January 2019. If it is still the 6th anywhere on the world, you can still post a valid entry. Apart from that the following applies: Rules Each player can submit one entry. Your entry should consist of a build of at least 16x16 studs in size, and a story alongside it. There is no upper limit in build size or story length - "quality over quantity" is encouraged though. Digital builds can be used. Winners will be determined by public vote after the 10th of January 2019; each registered BotBS player has one vote. Judging criteria are: quality and creativity of the MOC as well as the quality of writing and creativity in the story alongside it. Drunknok does not participate in the mini-challenge or the votes. Point #7 does not apply in case a vote is tied. In this case, Drunknoks choice acts as tie-breaker. All rules questions or disputes are decided by Drunknok. Prizes The first place receives the right to ask for a medium sized land property of their choice (other than forts) built by Drunknok during 2019. This means: the winner comes up with an idea, Drunknok builds it based on the input from the winner. This build can then be licensed by the winner, but Drunknok pays an amount of DB equal to the license fee to the winner. The second place is worth 100DB. The third place is worth 50DB. Post your entry in a seperate thread, preferably with a [MMC] tag in the thread title. Then post a link to this thread here. The voting will be done by poll in a seperate thread. over the course of the last three weeks of January.
  4. These two sets are awesome, and I hope they will get officially available worldwide at some point in the future.
  5. I feel like I am in the minority of liking DO and especially BB exactly the way they are. I love the story elements, I love the play features, and I love the way both look. As for the upcoming modular: my guess for the reveal would be anything between 27th to 30th. I assume TLG wants to keep the focus away from new stuff until Cyber Monday is over, and I doubt they have staff working on weekends - which puts the "reveal window" between Tuesday and Friday of the coming week.
  6. So I you admit defeat in the face of overwhelming evidence - good! If, one day, you have the time and will to go over the WTCM issues and dig for factually wrong articles: be my guest. But I think we should stop spamming this AMRCA thread now.
  7. This is about the twelve regular issues (special issues not counting), to be found both here and here.
  8. True! I challenge everybody to find a single case the WTCM reported factually wrong information. Good luck!
  9. I never invented anything. You picking a fight here or something? Edit: I think I scared you off. This was meant as a joke.
  10. Dammit, what am I to write about for the WTCM now?
  11. They are all well done, but my favourite would be the one by Bricky_Brick. To be honest, I wholeheartedly agree.
  12. I have something written already, it is in revision right now. I assume once @Bregir is a little less stressed he will give the approval to go.
  13. Excellent, you are educating yourself! Bathe in the fountain of truth and brilliant writing that is the WTCM!
  14. Only a complete madman would translate a "stern talking to" into "burning the person alive". The Padré seems to be kind of rude...
  15. So not only does Oleon not step in to protect its citizens, but they fully support the Padrés murdery rampage? Interesting, the WTCM takes note!
  16. Dammit. I really hope TLG changes its mind about this!
  17. Because you are!
  18. Those criminal Oleanders stop at nothing, now even dressing up as Corries to discredit the Crown! Shame on you Oleon, shame on you! NIce build though.
  19. The blatant bribery and corruption between Oleon and the Sea Rats does not go unnoticed... Nice build though!
  20. Name: Poppy IC background: Not an overly popular plant in the bigger nations, the poppy is still grown in many Sea Rat settlements. Its seeds are the basis for different drugs - all illegal of course. OOC background: Poppies were first cultivivated in Mesopotamia (roughly 4000-3000 BCE). Its seeds contain certain opiates that can relieve pain - and are the basis for certain drugs, opium and cocaine being the most prominent. Due to this, since the early 1900's the cultivation of poppies is highly regulated in most parts of the world. The Wikipedia article is pretty short, but features some paragraphs about the symbolism and history of poppies. Builds in BotBS: Poppy Plantation in Mesabi Landing (Mesabi) "In Flanders Fields", Poppy Port (Professor Thaum) "Tortugas mixed herbs", Tortuga (Professor Thaum) "Poppies everywhere", Charlatan Bay (Professor Thaum)
  21. Once uploaded at Imgur: right-click on the image, choose "Copy Image Location" go into your EB forum post and click on the location where you want to insert the image right-click and choose "Paste" the image will appear in your post like this: By double-clicking on the image in your post you open a window where you can re-size the image, you usually do not want to go over 800 pixels wide. Really nice MOC, very vibrant and colourful. Well done!
  22. I am surprised how much the DD grew on me over time. By now I really like it, and plan to get it one day. Shows how much damage a blurry leak can do!
  23. Next issue will not be out before mid December at the earliest, but writing has started already.
