Most of the chassis is done. Now doing trial and error. With 2 XL motors, I keep breaking the 12 tooth bevel gears. I'm going to try changing the gear ratio from 1:2 to 1:3 and see if that helps. Here are a couple pictures of the progress: Let me know what you think. It has the 2wd high and 4wd low, but the 2wd high is where I'm breaking the gear, so might just have all time 4wd low.

Making some progress. I built the rear axle, and the front grill and bumper are done. However, I'm having issues trying to make a front independent suspension with a differential and steering. I'm using the parts from 42029. Just found Lucio's White 4x4 and thinking of building his front axle and try it out.

Hello fellow builders! I am starting a project that I have never done before, and I need your help getting started. The project is a Chevy Silverado as it says in the title. Key features are: Remote control functions. 4x4, steering Possible Hi/Low transfer case For looks, I want it to look like a Technic version of the truck, so that when people see it, they think Chevy. I don't have the skills to make it look "Model Team" I plan to use 42000 wheels. In 1:10 scale, it will measure 70 studs long, 25 studs wide, 23 studs tall. Sariel's Model Scaler is a big help! So, I have the features layed out, the appearance I'm going for. But at this scale, I don't know where to start building. Body first? Chassis? I'll show progress pics as I go. Here is a picture of the real truck:

Even though I'm a Chevy guy, I would love to have the instructions for the Ford symbol. -
From looking at the results, I think I'm better off taking on the challenge to build something within the limits of the competition, but to keep it to myself. My ranking keeps getting lower each contest, so I don't want to feel disappointed. Congrats to the winners.

It may be the orientation of the wheel on the axle. The axle is 4 points, the gear/gray spindle is 6 points. Take it off the axle, rotate it 90 degrees, then re install.

Speaking of voting, what are the voting rules for those that have entered the competition?

I used microsoft paint. I did learn the hard way to print on white backed labels instead of clear labels. I thought using the clear would be perfect so that I only needed to print the letters and it would blend in. The clear looks like scotch tape on the plastic, and the ink was see-through, making the colors dark on the black. -

Stickers!!! I made some custom stickers to go along with the Tow Truck. My last name is Mead, so I decided to make Mead's Towing and Recovery. Also made some yellow stripes to complete the stripe around the truck. Also added a New York L\license plate. Other minor details changed is the truck lift. Lego trucks sit so low, it's hard to make a lift that will go underneath on it's own, yet strong enough to lift the truck. Also, changed the rear lights, and added spot lights. Now to make another video. Let me know what you think!! Glenn -

Wondering if anyone can help me out. I have the s brick attached to the 8275 bulldozer. I downloaded Fernandos 8275 profile. I got the front blade and ripper working. Also can go forward and backward. However, it will not steer. Any ideas? Thanks!- 780 replies

I feel I have to chime in here. LeocornoProductions, thank you for defending me, but I do not feel that Erik was degrading my moc, but to suggest upgrades to improve the looks of the model. Erik, thank you for your constructive criticism. I will take your ideas into consideration to make the model look better. I do have time to improve it, and will update the pictures as I go. Thank you for your comments. Glenn -

The US uses both types. This is the truck I based mine on: This is the type most wreckers have: Thank you for the compliment. I don't always get to build, but when I do, I'm determined to finish before walking away. I have about 25 hours working on this project. Glenn -

Final touches done. Exhaust pipes. Visor shortened from 3 high to 2 high. Clearance and marker lights added. Boom changed from black to yellow. And, I made a video! Please don't make fun of my driving skills, I'm still perfecting it. -

TheItalianBrick - Thank you for your idea. As fas as performance goes, the boom works the way I want it to. More pictures. I believe I'm 95% done with this project. Just need to work on looks. It's one of my downfalls with Lego. -
I wanted to start a topic on my entry for the competition. 2 Receivers 4 Motors 7 Functions 1 M Motor switches between the 1st and 2nd functions for the other 3 motors. M Motor 2 - Steering, Winch M Motor 3 - Stabilizers, Boom Extension XL Motor - Drive, Boom Raise/Lower 7th function is an automatic vehicle lift using a Lego rubber band. A couple teasers of work in progress: Functions are working good so far, but I'm dreading the appearance.
