What was the last movie you watched?
Digger of Bricks replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Andy Serkis' Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle and Bumblebee, last year's prequel/solo outing for the Transformers franchise. It's hard to say whether I found Mowgli as a whole better or even comparable to Disney's 2016 remake of The Jungle Book, as they're said to be two very different approaches to their shared source material. Rather, it's easier to say which of the two handled different aspects, namely their approach in story and creature CGI. Personally, I prefered the more serious tone and storyline of Mowgli, even if its execution was a bit flawed; but, on the other hand, I did find the motion-capture face graphing for the animals to be somewhat off-putting, even though I have to somewhat admire them for trying something else for differentiation from Disney's 2016 remake. As for Bumblebee, that I surprisingly enjoyed! I loved its Iron Giant/Big Hero 6 dynamic between its titular character and main human lead, which has been nitpicked by some for following too closely to those cited examples, yet it didn't bug me nearly at all to be honest. Now, some who've seen all the prior Transformers films say it's kinda hard to judge if Bumblebee by itself is a good film, as they feel their opinion of it may be tainted by their experiences with those previous installments, thereby giving them a possibly biased, rosy-tinted view of the film in retrospect of its cinematic forebearers. I myself on the other hand, has only seen the first movie from 2007 once many years ago, so I found Bumblebee to be far above anything near mediocrity. -

Yeah, Cecil B. DeBatman's torso print was the one particular thing I'd wish to see come from this commercial! On another note, if they can easily utilize it for commercials and promotionals, why can't Lego apply their cinematic style of animation to their tie-in TV shows and videogames, just with a little less airbrushing? I'd at least be so much more interested in watching their product tie-in TV shows if they did.

That's a pretty novel format for a starcraft! I've had a similar such idea myself for a spacecraft, though it'd be modeled after eighteenth century sailing craft rather than a modern-day cruise-liner. Thereby, I had the idea of a spacecraft with pretty much the same format (bridge located at the rear of the craft, windowed hull), but at its sides would be several rows of large, angled solar panels emulating the windsails of eighteenth century watercraft.

I myself have always considered Trans-Yellow canopies to be depicting in-cockpit backlighting. Pretty darn spot-on if you ask me.- 991 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Digger of Bricks replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I'm not holding my breath for a return to more than a single "traditional" CMS per year, as I'm pessimistically expecting this current pattern of theirs to remain the norm. But hey, with that attitude, at least I'll be pleasantly surprised if they indeed do more than one next year rather than disappointed if they don't. -

You know though, think of all the derivative armor parts we've seen since Series 7's Galaxy Patrol CMF, as many of them have been seemingly taking after that part with slight alterations to one degree or another. I guess it is somewhat getting a little redundant, whereas otherwise they could've been just giving us recolors of the first few preexisting molds they'd initially done.- 991 replies

At least not for TLM2, as @Lyichir says they don't appear at any point in the film. Given how developed of mold it looks to be though, I'm figuring they designed for something else, be it perhaps a future Series 19 CMF or maybe for Ninjago or that other upcoming mystery theme.- 991 replies
