  1. I have made a Class 8 with BBB Medium wheels. It is about the right size, I don't scale things as much as you have though, I just go by what looks right. I can also confrm quite a bit of wheel spin. Most of the engines I have used BBB wheels for are bigger and have either more weght, or are powered from a tender with standard LEGO wheels so the wheel spin is not so much as issue. I think my own Class 8 is in the gallery on here if you want to look. It is also 7 studs wide.
  2. I am planning on a trip to Cardiff store in the next couple of weeks, specifically to get PAB cups, (probably 8 big ones over two days.) and I always stack then very very fine. I do not live near although it is my nearest LEGO store, the wife and I are taking a short summer break and it is good for her shopping in clothes stores and stuff whilst I do that. Usually my trips there are once a year in the new year, but this year we are doing summer as well. I hope the staff are still as friendly as they have always been, especially as I take up a lot of space at the PAB wall as being a cripple I have to use a walking frame and then sit down al ot to prevent me falling over. The staff have always been fine and I get them to hang on to the full cups for me until I have finsihed all of them. Never had any trouble at all, so I do hope that this has not changed since January when I was last there. By the way, does anyone know what they have in Cardiff PAB right now, or better still are likely to have in two weeks time?
  3. That is much better now you have put the rear windows in. I would never have thought of using those old doors for a train, but on a little one lke this they do look better than it was before so well done for that.
  4. I am in the UK, I had a problem once when ordering some PF stuff. When it arrived the lights were missing from the order although clearly showing on the receipt. When I checked online I noticed that the PF lights were out of stock so I assumed they would send them in due course when they had some back in stock. About a week or so after they were showing as back in stock I e-mailed them to ask where mine were. Turns out they seemed to think they were with the original order and not delayed due to being out of stock at all. They did send me some though so I cannot complain really it just took a month or longer than anticiapated to get them.
  5. It does look abit like a BR Class 2 or even a Class 1 for that matter as they are both small compact twin axle shunters of roughly the same size.
  6. I did PM her a while ago to see where she was as had not seen any posts recently. I know on a couple of occasions she mentioned that she was not in the best of health so I assumed she had taken a turn for the worst or something. Trouble is with the internet it is great for making friends globally but not so good at actually keeping them together if they get ill. I mean didn't she live in the middle of Australia or new Zealand, somewhere over there, it is a long trip for someone to just pop around and knock on the door to ask if she is OK! Unless anyone lives there of course?
  7. Bring on the Diesel Shunters I say, much overlooked class of engine so nice to see another one on here.
  8. It is nice to see someone with a good designed BR coach. Both colours look good to me. I'd prefer one in old Southern rail green though! A whole load of them pulled behind a big green or black steam train would look so good!
  9. Very good to see, the video was good to see it running in the garden and despite of it being 42C it still appeared to be very windy the way the trees were blowing about behind. The steam train looks good as well and the whole thing appears to fit together well and runs good to.
  10. Very Similar, I also use "Really Useful Boxes" because they are really useful, especially for this sort of thing. What is more than heads they come in all sorts of transparent colours, so I know for example all Mini-Figure parts are in Trans Green Really Useful Boxes. All 1X something plates are in Trans Purple Really Useful Boxes and all 2X + plates are in plain transparent Really Useful Boxes and then differing sizes for differing parts and colours and so on. They just are so useful for knowing what is what in the storage system. But yes, wandering off for a minute, I do the same with my Mini-figure heads.
  11. Yes same as the other it is Tek-nick.
  12. I would like a revival of some of the old space themes, particularly Ice Planet 2002 and Blacktron. I am not so keen on a reboot of Classic Space but in a way it could be worked in with these, classic bits on ships for the Ice Planet theme or as adversaries of Blacktron, so we could encounter classic space and indeed Space Police in these themes as well. In fact I would be happy with a general Space theme that had sets covering the various older space factions brought up to date, maybe a set from each of them, spread over several years could build into quite a collection to revival Star Wars. After all in Star Wars you don't go through Empire years and then Rebellion Years and so on do you! I would also like to see a redesign on a lot of the older train stuff from the 12V era upwards to bring it up to Power Functions spec and with new updated build methods and styling. Perhaps even reding some of the line side stuff.
  13. Maybe the troll or goblin king from the Hobbit / Lord of the rings would be a good starting point for that type of mutant?
  14. This is a nice first attempt at making a complete train. Do you have it powered at all and the track to run it on? I think the engine is the best bit to be honest, but it could be made a whole lot better by the addition of some connecting rods on the big driver wheels, maybe even some piston action? But yes, the engine is a nice build especially if you have not done one before. For the coaches, I would like to see them longer, at least twice as long and with double axled bogies. I know this would require a bigger investment in wheels and a fe other bits but it would make the whole train a lot more satisfying for you, enabling much more fun to be had!
  15. I really does depend on how high the second level is I guess, is it low enough that one straight road baseplate would not make the angle ridiculous, or would this just be way to short? I think we need more information really? Also, what is your CITY like, is it a typical LEGO CITY city, or is it based on any real life one? For example you say you are from Indonesia, I know from 1st hand experience on several occasions that there can be very differing structural types almost on top of each other in large cities there, skyscrappers butting up against what to all intents and purposes are small huts made of breeze blocks and corrigated metal, (My inlaws are in Bekasi.) many services by roads full of holes or not even tarmaced. If this is what you wish to represent then a higher angle maybe tolerated as reasonably realistic. If however you want to make a typical LEGO CITY then you will need either a very small height difference or a longer ramp for it to look any good. Maybe you could offer us some photographs of your collection as it is now along with details of the space you have available and how high the rise is going to be, or is planned to be? Perhaps then we could offer more help?
  16. I have been running it with a few small freight wagons. I was expecting it to go quite fast using the BB Medium wheels on a standard PF motor but I am surprised to find it has a lot better speed control that using standard sized LEGO wheels which really surprised me. Anyway, I am pleased with how it has gone.
  17. Yes this is really good, the bogies, the colour, roof, how many of those little curved slopes(?) and the details in the positions of the windows, doors, the bits underneath etc. Can I ask, does it have any internal detail?
  18. Nice looking tank engine. It is nice to see some small steam engines as well as all those big mainline ones. I can imagine this working in a yard, or maybe even a small branch line.
  19. Really nice looking engine. I love all that complicated running gear and this one looks fantastic.
  20. These look so good. I would love to be able to get to a show like this at some point, but I do not think I have ever seen anything like this advertised locally. It must be really good to be there knowing that you have created such a big layout with such nice looking engines and wagons able to run them on such a large circuit.
  21. I was thinking of lime green, I have quite a bit of it (not so much tan.) as I have been trying to collect 'Friends' colours to make a couple of MOCs for my wife. Maybe I'll make the locomotive more lime green. I will have to get a new set of PF parts though before I can build this. Maybe towards the end of the summer? I am also trying to think of a couple of Friends related freight wagons, I thought of a flatbed with a friends car on it or an animal transport. As it happens my proper (Minifigure.) animal transport wagon has two Friends tiger cubs in it, but it was not built to look like a Friends set so doesn't. I am not sure what has happenedrecently with the photos. It used to work that I put a link fro flickr it would run a slide show of the album. Its seems to have stopped doing this but I am not sure why? I don't think I have changed how I post them? I was aiming for the slide show in my last couple of posts but they did not work.
  22. Another thing that I have made recently is a passenger coach for my wife's Friends to ride in. I made it to the same basic size as my normal passenger coaches (42X7) or more or less anyway. I had been meaning to do one for some time now in between ordinary passenger coaches and other random frieght and track ballasting. It was actually quite hard to get it to look 'Friends' rather than just a bright passenger coach. I think it looks Ok though? One thing I had to do as i could find no other way, was to attach the Friends Dolls to the seats with a little blob of blue tac, they just will stay put otherwise when the train starts to move they all fall out. Still I don't think that is a nig issue really. Once more I have put the photographs onto my flickr accouint.https://www.flickr.c...57644952567270/ I am pretty sure that somewhere on my flickr account there are photographs of my Friends Box car as well. I just need a nice Friendly locomotive to pull them on down to Heartlake City!
  23. They don't look too badly smashed actually. Did it take long to put them back together again? Nice to see such a big pile up though and I am glad it is yours and not me that has to clear it all away. God video though especially the slow motion one.
  24. I have just uploaded the photos to my flickr account. A friend of mine asked me a while ago if this could be built in LEGO as he used to see them as a child working near to where he lived. Apparently they had four of them at the steel works in Ebbw Vale. They were made by Hunslet. I have had to make a couple of concessions to the format of LEGO in the main down to the constraints of the size of the battery box. I would have liked the central cab to have been shorter enabling me to make the engine (in the real ones.) covering noses longer. I would also have liked to make the 0-8-0 wheel base shorter but again I am constrained by the spacing in the LEGO Train motor. I did consider using a M Motor and tried a couple of arrangements but it got way too fiddly to conceal it and have it look the same as the other end with the IR unit in it. Also driving the wheels from one end just seemed to place too much stress on the frame and it kept breaking apart. I have ended up using BB Medium wheels as the standard LEGO wheels were way to small and the big drivers/blinds were way too big. Anyway, it is what it is, it runs fine, handles all the curves points etc a lot better than i thought it would, I only have had one derailment so far and that was me going mad with the speed. So what do you think, is it OK or not?
  25. I don't think I went into a dark age until around 1995 by which time I was well into adulthood and with my first house. In fact my dark age was somewhat forced upon me by having to move with my job and being back with my parents suddenly having one room where I used to have a whole house. It picked up again a few years into married'ness when once again a house was mine. Did I ever consider myself to be the only one? You know I don't think I even thought about it all, it was just something I did. Maybe it helps now though as even off line I know quite a few Afols so I know it is not a kids only hobby regardless of the internet.
