The fact I bought a load of the Lego quality knock off goats from China a few days ago pretty much guaranteed that Lego would re-introduce the Goat *eye roll*

I've not seen any videos online of LAN members even receiving 2023 Friends sets yet. But there's plenty of videos of them receiving Ninjago Core, City and Monkie Kid 2023 sets.

According to Brickipedia the first Monkie Kid sets were released in May 2020... So what's this date an Easter Egg for? And is the red M from another theme? Or is it M for Monkey? I wonder why this village has tech if it's set in the distant past? I wonder if season 4 will give us more info on what Mo is? An ordinary cat that was a kitten in the Ming Dynasty (assuming the sets are involving time travel) shouldn't still be alive in the modern era without mystic monkey business.

These teenagers have done a lot of little kid activities over the years in various sets. Probably so the target demographic can relate. Emma still buys toys, for example, (set 41409). But Lego's always been inconsistent with the OG girls.. they attend school, they own businesses, they drive, they believe in Santa, they travel the world without chaperones, they have huge disposable incomes, they have to work low level service jobs, they live with parents, they live independently from parents... Their circumstances and interests vary wildly from set to set. I suppose one good thing (well, there are many amazing things) about the 2023 reboot is that it's established they're all grown up and are of an age where some of them can have teenage children. Looking at the 2023 Friends sets, the new generation are still in school, but are of an age where they can drive, since only one of the vehicle sets comes with an adult; and so far they're all doing reasonably teenage-ish activities. You can see Lego's push for more realistic representation of today's youth with an emphasis that most of the new friends spend a lot of time using electronic devices. So yeah, I can see that there may be less emphasis on young kid activities like saving in a piggy bank. Studies have shown that young kids are drawn to toys that show older kids using the toy on it's packaging, kind of a "hey if this sophisticated older kid likes this toy, then it must be good" mentality. So having the new friends doing older kid stuff like streaming etc will probably be attractive to kids wanting to explore those possibilities through pretend play. I would have thought that the Toy Story franchise would have boosted piggy bank sales, but I have no idea if they are particularly used by the TikTok generation nowadays? I tend to avoid children where possible, don't want sticky hands on my Lego.

The 'Bruni' animal (6380362) from some of Lego's Disney Princess Frozen 2 sets is in several 2023 Lego Friends sets in a different colour to represent Liann's pet Lizard, so it seems they can use the Disney animals in other themes? However, they did design a new Racoon for Friends rather than recolour the pre-existing Lego Disney Racoon (6134411) so I don't know what the rules are with licenced character designs.

The Grindylow in set 76420 is basically a small Space Alien.

The Merperson and some of the architecture from set 76420 could work in an underwater adventure

Chima gave us plenty of parts for people who are into POTA to MOC something, but I've never seen any so I assume it's not popular among AFOLS?
-
It'd be easy to draw a slot on it's back with a marker and use it as a bunny piggy bank? I imagine Lego might give us a recoloured 6319751 eventually to represent a piggy bank?

I'm starting to think that this theme may not sell well, wave 1 has been heavily discounted here for weeks. I expect Avatar sets will become rare and expensive on the secondary market in a few years.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Killian replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Think so. I mean he needs some sort of profession when it's not December. The Jazz Club/Pizzeria is now a Winter Village set in my headcanon Someone needs to put Santa's Elves heads and hats on the red minifig pizza torso 6275699 to be his pizzeria workers. -
I'll probably buy multiples of the Harry Potter and the Splash About set to army build the lake creatures. Not particularly interested in the banners, though they do have some good parts.

Just been thinking that the new Friend's bedroom sets for 2023 would have been a good place to reintroduce part 6288358 or part 6319751 with new printing to represent a kid's Piggy Bank. I wonder if they'll do that someday, maybe even in a City set?

I picked this set up at a great discount in a UK Sainsbury's a week or 2 ago. No idea when I'll get around to building it though

Forgot to mention, in the lounge of Autumn's house (set 41730) there's a picture of Stephanie at graduation with Mia.

Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
Killian replied to Powered by Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
ASDA are selling it for £35 in the UK with the extra stickers to make it an ASDA store. I'm toying with buying a second one to combine with set 41729 next year -
That New Elementary review has some good images of the minifigs. I love Sun Wukong's alternate face where he's suffering under the band tightening spell like in the book. The Golden Winged Eagle looks like it has the curvy body shape print that tends to appear on female minifig torsos. The set has some really good parts, I'll finally cave in and buy this mech; I passed on the original. It made me LOL when I right click saved one of the mech images and NE had called the image "badass"

Because people being interested in discussing possibilities is the world's biggest evil. Why would someone be on a Lego discussion forum if they hate speculating about what's possible with Lego? AFOLs are the worst. Still, it's always nice when rude people crawl out and show their true colours, gives me the opportunity to add the negative people to my block list and keep my experience of the forums positive.

I'm surprised I haven't seen any speculation that the fantasy images in this set may be a sneak peak at Lego Dreamzzz. All I've heard is people hoping it means Legend of Zelda minidolls are coming
-
That's generally the more immature section of the AFOL community who don't like minidolls because it's different to what they grew up with or that dislike them because they look more like dolls and they think dolls are for girls and they feel that exhibiting female interests/characteristics makes them feel degraded because female is somehow less than male in some weird way. If Lego had introduced minidolls in the 1970's then introduced minifigures 11 years ago, the naysayers would be like "Eww Icky Minifigures!" I don't get why people that don't like minidolls always have to be so vocal about it, just sell them online and replace them with minifigures and enjoy the superior set build without worrying that enjoying a Friends set makes you somehow less masculine. Until Lego bring out sets designed to be operated with certain genitalia, any Lego set is for any gender or lack of gender anyway.

Stephanie is confirmed to be returning in some capacity. I wonder if she'll turn out to be related to the main 8 somehow?

The original Friends is over. The new 2023 version with the 8 main characters is technically unproven, so could be arguably "Up and Coming"? Speaking of, the way they spelled H-E-A-R-T in the Girls on a Mission series fitted the 5 characters with a letter each. I'm a bit surprised we don't have 9 new characters to spell H-E-A-R-T-L-A-K-E, but maybe that won't be a feature in the new theme song. Wish Lego would do some kind of press release with details of the new show/webisodes for 2023. I wonder if it'll be CGI or more traditional animation and whether the characters will look like minidolls or not? I wonder if it's being made by the same animation studio? I hope it's not hard to watch internationally like Monkie Kid was for the longest time It's a great set with some useful pieces that would be good for Theme Park MOCs and would pair well with the various pet rescue sets in the 2023 line up. It'd be an easy MOD to turn it into a kindergarten/playground too. It's a good way to get the blonde schnauser/terrier animal that's not been in many sets yet
