Woah, this looks amazing! It really gives me those old pirate sets combined with modern and I'm loving it! Makes me want to build a Galleon like this too!

Part 1 and 2 make for a funny story! Are we sure he's talking about a sword though? π€ͺ

Looks good! Loving the stained glass as well. And never thought drinks made from Lego could look so appealing and refreshing! 1pm is late enough in the day, right? :P -

This looks amazing! I love the overall picture, the crops look nice and the barn being at a slight angle really adds another level to it! Together with the road cutting it in nice separate chunks, it's an excellent composition! -
That's very nice! I really like how lively it looks with all the sheep and soldiers! Excellent looking fence too!

Sure! Using Sariels converter (http://studs.sariel.pl/), the hull length (just the hull at the waterline) is about 105 studs (give or take a few), overall, so including the portruding back section and bowsprit, she's about 140 studs long! In ""mid"" sections, she's slightly over 9 pieces, (excluding bow piece at the waterline), which is the "6+" of the class 8 in "About ships". Regarding upkeep and licensing, I intend to build a few more things that will increase my income, I can currently just about pay for her upkeep but I don't intend to license her just yet, and I do intend to ask the faction for a small loan to! Overall I've taken into account the economics for it and it should be just about net positive right now ^^. Let me know if it's good enough of a size for a Class 8! I definitely hope she is π . Thank you! Glad you like her! Thanks! ^^ Thank you very much! :D

Thank you! I hope to make it one very long continious story, and then whenever I do other builds I might use those as like "backstory" builds for the crews and how they joined the organisation etc! Thanks ^^! More will come hopefully "soon TM" And the Emissary, oh don't worry about him, he's just a very nice man who likes to dress up, he total doesn't have a completely different mindset that would be against anything known to the civilised world ;). Thank you! The rigging was one thing that took way longer than I hoped, and kinda killed my vibe a bit when building it, it's why the ratlines don't have the horizontal ropes too, as I half lost my mind attempting it on one side, so I figured would be better to just skip past it at that point... Thank you very much! Thanks! :D And directly a question to the council... Could I license her as a class 8 with her size? Bregir said that was okay mid-progress of building her in one of the WIP threads, but now she's done I'd like to confirm that again just to be sure!

[MOC] L'AureliΓ©, 44-gun heavy frigate.
Thomas Waagenaar replied to Thomas Waagenaar's topic in Pirate MOCs
Thank you! Was quite difficult to come up with deck details that made sense too :D Thanks! Hopefully many more will come, in the future I'll definitely go smaller though, so hopefully it won't take as long! Also, new and better pictures are there now, so it'll definitely be nicer to view. The old pictures are still avaible on Flickr. I'll keep trying to make better pictures, hopefully one day I'll be able to snap that one golden photo! ^^ -
[MOC] L'AureliΓ©, 44-gun heavy frigate.
Thomas Waagenaar replied to Thomas Waagenaar's topic in Pirate MOCs
I'll see if I can try to move the table to be against the wall and re-take some of the pictures! It's quite a weighty table so I'll do my best! ^^ Edit: New pictures are up, I hope you like them. I moved the table with the ship as close to wall as possible and took the pictures before the sun came bursting through more than it already did! I noticed the best weather would be cloudy, but that isn't forecast the next few days here (Either heavy rain or sunny), so these will be the "best" I can do for now within my capabilities! ^^ -
Hi! I have after way too long, finally completed my first ship so I'm ready to get started with my story on the brick seas! I didn't want to spam the same topic twice in both the pirates and the BoBS forum, so I divided it. For more pictures of the actual ship, please see this link: This post is essentially the start of my SigFig her story. For the opening which this continues on, please read this first: ----- After all these years, wars have gone by, soldiers have come and gone... Still holding on to the original bottled message. But tonight? Tonight I'm throwing it back, I have to see what happens! *Multiple days gone by, without anything particular happening. The pier is still rotting apart, and a lone seagull can be seen harassing a crab... After a week had passed since throwing the bottle back into the ocean, Γmilie went onto her daily routine, not expecting much if anything at all. But then, she noticed that she could see what seemed like a ships mast towering out from above the trees, at the site of the abandoned pier. Were these the people that have been wanting her?* Alright crew, Today's assignment is the escort of a highly valued individual. The Coven has been wanting to get into contact with this woman for a couple of years now and we have finally been greenlit to dock and pick her up. It is your duty to ensure she is safe at all times! We can not let any harm come to her on any individual we values, as we need her on our side. Atleast until we can confirm that she is indeed the person we are looking for. After that, we will see if the mission continues. For now, Alina, you're with me. Dismissed! *The crew of L'AureliΓ© goes back to their duties, whilst the Emissary and Alina get to shore on one of the ships rowboats. After getting out of the rowboat, a surprised Γmilie is walking out of the forest, onto the pier and up to the duo standing there* I don't know what I was expecting, I have to admit... But it sure is impressive, if not a bit creepy to see such a ship standing at this rotten place... I could see the crew watching me from the deck too, they seemed very interested? The hooded man was wearing a creepy skull mask too, it made me really uncomfortable, the lady on the other hand gave me a comfortable and familiar feeling, I'm not sure what it was but it felt a lot better. She told me her name was Alina, and that she was with the man named "The Emissary", I wonder what his real name is? They received the bottle I threw back into the ocean and came here as quick as they could. When I got invited onboard and they showed me around and introduced me to a part of the crew, it seems like a mixed bunch of people, all with different backgrounds and stories, perhaps I'll get to know them better another time. Alina also told me that I was the one they were looking for or something, I'm not sure what they ment. They explained something about having to confirm with a ritual. On one hand this makes me very scared, on the other, I seem to be drawn to it, as if it's my calling to go with these people and see what they have to offer... I got offered a another set of clothing, something more suited for life on a warship, they said. Which made sense to me given my dress tended to get stuck quite often on some of the nooks and crannies around the ship during the tour. If I choose to accept, we will be sailing out tomorrow evening, I think I'm going with them. There's nothing left here for me anymore... Goodnight, dear diary. --- I'm hoping to start a proper introduction story to my characters this way. Being my main, Γmilie and secondary, the Emissary. Any feedback is welcome! Greetings, Thomas

I would like to present my first ship, out of what will hopefully end up as a fleet of many more! Her name is L'AureliΓ©, she's a 44-gun heavy frigate. On her lower-deck she carries 28x 24 pounder long guns. On her upper deck she carries 16x 18 pounder long guns, interchangable for carronades! (Not yet designed). Of these cannons, 2 of them are in bow chase and another 2 in aft chase configuration. Overall she is about 110 centimeters long with bowsprit included. On the waterline she is about 80 centimeters long. At her tallest point she is 72 centimeters tall. Thematically I went with the flags and ensign of the Russian navy in the 18th century, as I just thought these flags looked cool and fit the colours of the ship quite well! The printed flags on top of the masts I got from Brickprint in the Netherlands, the large flag at the rear is just a small table flag I took apart with only the flag part remaining. Sadly, she has no sails and will not get them either, as due to the place she is displayed is right below my AC-unit, meaning that whenever it's blowing air it would essentially mess up or even rip off the sails in the worst case scenario... As such, I have decided to not do sails on her. (Which fits my "agenda" anyways as I don't have proper sewing capabilities to make actually nice looking sails anyways) I hope you guys enjoy her! She'll be sailing around the Brick Seas too over at the BoBS page, for her story, please click this link! L'AureliΓ© L'AureliΓ© L'AureliΓ© L'AureliΓ© For some more pictures, please see the album below, if anyone wants more close-ups or anything, let me know and I'll happily take some more! I'm aware some pictures are quite dark, the lighting is sadly never really good here in my apartment... :( It's either full sun so the glare is way too extreme, or too little sun, resulting in some darker images... https://flic.kr/s/aHsmVP4s9L

[ESL] Jack hatches a plan
Thomas Waagenaar replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Excellent looking prison! Captures the "empty" and barebones feel of a real prison really nicely without lacking any details. The green walls support the tan sand/dirt floor really well too. Can't wait to see what's going to happen to them next to the duo! -

Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Thomas Waagenaar replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
It had something to do with part/colour availability, stability/physics and such, I think I read it at one of the challenge things, but it made sense to me. As originally my ship had many parts that turned out very expensive to source, like a few clips in reddish brown were like 3.5 EUR/piece, so had to drop them. And some other pieces, like the long bars turned out to be 2-5 EUR a piece (depending on colour) so had to swap them for lots of small ones put directly after each other. And regarding stability... Well... When I designed the ship digitally, it looked and seemed stable, needless to say, I had to redesign the inside like 3 times in order to actually get it to be stable . Plus, you can do really funky things, like my checkpoint built I had the seagulls and such flying over, no way that would have been possible with fysical bricks ^^. But digital also has some downsides, like plants and greebling which you want to place more randomly, and you actually have to rotate and spend a long time on getting that right digitally, were as with physical bricks it's very easy! So yeah, overall design/construction are definitely equal in terms of visuals! In those cases it really doesn't matter wether or not something has been digital or physical, it's just the layer below it that is quite different between the two options! -
Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Thomas Waagenaar replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Oh I know, most of my builds so far have been digital. But I more so ment that in the rules and everything it says that "due to the parts available, digital builds will be held to a higher standard". I'm not against digital builds at all, and atleast half if not more of my future builds will still be digital too π! -
Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Thomas Waagenaar replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Hopefully in the next 2-3 weeks I'll be able to finally call my first ship, which carries the name " L'AureliΓ© " done! The rigging is finished to a level I'm content with. Sadly no sails as she's positioned right below my AC unit (which is up against the wall behind her), which is powerful enough to have blown away loose bricks when building her in the first place π . She's a 44-cannon heavy frigate. Her armament consists of 28x 28 pounders, and 16x 18 pounders, of which 2 in aft and 2 in fore chase configuration. Overall she's 108cm long as shown by the measuring tape. I'm just waiting for the few custom printed bricks and custom flags to arrive before I take better pictures (this one is terrible, I know) and officially post her. Have yet to figure out how I'll pay for the license... But I'll find a way. Hoping to be able to license her as a Class 8, based on her size and armament, taking into account she was brick-built rather than just a digital concept either. If the court approves, of course! And then, I can finally make my characters story start, after having signed up almost a year ago... -
[SR-FB] Hilto, Pasha's house of the red petals
Thomas Waagenaar replied to omnihash_cz's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Impressive building! Good-looking trees, the house is placed on an interesting angle which adds another good layer of complexity, and lot of neat little details to look at! If I were a sailor, I'd probably have gone here too! :P
