DC Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion
RedHoodPug replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
It is typical of them, and it is annoying. But as I said above hopefully this will keep the door open for a second series, and hopefully with a bit of luck and maybe a stiff prod with a really big stick, they might think of those gaps. Hope and willpower work well together -

Oooh, I’m not sure what I was expecting of Jay’s helmet mould but I really like that minifigure. Another win for me. -

Everyone in order of appearance Batman 1939, Detective Comics #27 Flash 1940, Flash Comics #1 Wonder Woman 1941, All Star Comics #8 Cheetah 1943, Wonder Woman #6 Bat-Mite 1959, Detective Comics #267 Sinestro 1961, Green Lantern Vol 2 #7 Metamorpho 1965, The Brave and the Bold #57 Mr Miracle 1971, Mr Miracle #1 (he might be a later version, will alter when a clearer picture comes out) Bumblebee 1976, Teen Titans #48 (as Bumblebee, the character first appeared in #45) Cyborg 1980, DC Comics Presents #26 Joker 1986, The Dark Knight Returns Aquaman (in particular this version) 1995, Aquaman Vol 5 #9 Stargirl 1999, Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. #0 Huntress (if we’re sticking with New 52) 2011, Worlds’ Finest #1 Simon Baz 2012, New 52 Free Comic Book Day Edition Pre-Flashpoint Superman 2017, Action Comics #976 Ironically the iteration of the character that started it all is the most recent depiction we have. I feel that this series is designed with a second in mind. They can fill gaps as they go, assuming that we get a second series. -

Ok, well not entirely expected. Original Flash will be a nice touch, and another Golden Age figure which I really appreciate. The Superman confuses me because with the lineup we knew it made perfect sense to complete the Trinity. Joker in TDKR is a mad choice, because any kid that wants to know what version he is is going to be taken aback by the dark tone. Bat-Mite is from out of left field but I’m happy with him. As has been mentioned already his part in Brave and the Bold was just brilliant. I shall update the stat sheet soon. -
Marvel Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion

I don’t know that bashing people for what they like is a particularly helpful argument. Disliking the look of a character is an acceptable line of reasoning. So the first A.I.M. figures we get are based on a game that is proving to be hot property, and not the typical comics version. Surely you should be the slightest bit pleased that someone at Lego is aware of A.I.M. in the first place? Maybe they are striking while the iron is hot, and maybe one day down the road they will come up with a more comic accurate look. As it stands the game is the last bastion for the original Avengers; after that the next phase of the MCU focuses on a whole new range of characters, and a few of them will prove tricky to coax new fans towards. Lego know full well that the MCU sets have done better than the comic sets, and this game kind of relates to it. Without it there probably would be more Hydra henchmen instead. As for the moulds and printing, the Disney Marvel deal might be long-standing but tough on Lego. At the end of the day they don’t have to make Marvel sets, so griping this much about what we get is biting the hand that feeds. -

Ok, 1st appearance Supes makes sense, even if it’s not one of my preferred choices. I’m wondering which Flash we will get, as of the current seven Aquaman and GL aren’t their original versions. I’m going to say it’ll be Jay Garrick, as that ties in with the JSA vibe we’ve been getting. On the other hand we could see Kid Flash and Black Adam. Thank you, @Ashnflash -

He would be a good fit, they’ve proven capable of doing varied cowls. Although my heart wants more Golden Age characters, I would love minifigures of the Charlton characters that inspired/inadvertently formed Watchmen. -
If you applied that same logic to books no one would have thought making LoTR was a good idea. On your other point I quite agree, HP sets will continue as long as there is a good market for them, and they haven’t really plumbed the depths of the saga.

Apologies for maintaining the off-topic course, but I wholly disagree. I would say that it’s borderline impossible to suggest that you can glean every morsel of information from one viewing of a film. If that was the case people wouldn’t watch films over and over. Having been to the Harry Potter Experience I will argue that there are background details that you can only appreciate with at least a second viewing, which only serves to expand your viewing experience.

Saw that. Well it was only an idea. It just didn’t make sense for it to be HP either as there’s no precedent for a winking owl. -

Pfftt. Nothing like a bit of inconsistency in the early days of comic lore, though. Doctor Midnight - or Mid-Nite - was accompanied by more than one owl, Hooty being one of them. He was often paired with Rex Tyler, known as Hourman, Hour-Man, the Hourman or the Hour-Man. Look at the discussion in these pages about 1939 Batman’s belt buckle not being consistent within the same story. My point being that that owl doesn’t have to be that Hooty. -
There’s a winking owl in a Grimm Fairy Tale, and few other examples

Worth a shout. Is there any further news? https://dc.fandom.com/wiki/Hooty_the_Owl_(New_Earth) It’s not impossible, but I can be forgiven for thinking so when we’re closer to a DC CMF reveal than we are anything from HP. -

What are the chances of one of the final CMF spots being Dr Midnight? An owl is making the rounds in the leaks and everyone is convinced it’s HP themed. It would add some weight to the ‘company for Stargirl’ suggestion. The only downside is that with McNider you need Tyler. -

Black Manta. But full size. Alright, alright, that would be huge. But I still want one. A team missing from the Japanese roster. Thanks to the name generator I found, you too could enjoy the exploits of Amethyst Foot, Chemical Finder, Mouth Glow, Reptile Driver and Strike Melter. -

I’ve played with the idea of the Monk being one of them, as his hood has been in the Batcave trophy room forever. Unfortunately I don’t think he’s mainstream enough to justify a spot. Same with a lot of them really. -

Patrick Starfish on steroids aside, Starro is a Silver Age villain. Sorry to be that nerd @Duncan Young I have great admiration for anyone, when designing a villainous disguise with the intent of being taken seriously as a threat, decides that their helmet needs - nay demands - massive eyebrows. All of this is just a diversion from the fact that we’ve not seen anything since last week. Have they been silenced? -

Or Deadshot or Killer Moth. Don’t get me wrong, the odds of it being Hatter are higher. But it would be ironic if the Hatter we got was GA, when he was his least threatening or iconic. -

Ares, Black Adam, Per Degaton, Grundy, Vandal Savage, Dr Sivana, Star Sapphire, Toyman. Of the ones I can think of that haven’t appeared yet and/or aren’t on the shelves right now. -

I would say Hatter is the wild card, as there are dozens of GA villains that haven’t been made yet. -

There’s conflicting information as to whether it’s 4+ or 7+, you wouldn’t happen to know which, would you? I get the feeling it’s going to be the Invisible Jet, a shame if it’s not from the main line. The first one was a bit naff. You’re welcome. As I said for the piece count it’s either massive or more than one build. -

As far as we know it’s two figures, 3306 pieces, November release date and 1989 Batman inspired. From that it’s unlikely to have any other figures, let alone anyone from Batman Returns. What it’s going to be is still up in the air. Based on the Tumbler, it’s too many pieces for one vehicle, unless they are doing a Hogwarts and using lots of 1x1 plates, tiles or studs. My guesses at this stage, like everyone else, are either both Batmobile and Batwing, or the Batmobile and a vignette. At the moment this set isn’t for me. Welcome to Eurobricks. -

Well, Ive said it before and I’ll say it again, only in the present tense. It doesn’t matter how good the print is on Nicholson Joker, if I ever get this set he will be spending his existence in the figure drawer. 3306 pieces is pretty big, I still would have preferred a Batmobile collection. -

A Deathstroke if only to get Slade’s head under the helmet. If there was a decent way of replicating his buccaneer boots I would be even happier. edit: and a better, more suited sword, like a beefier Excalibat.
