DC Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion
RedHoodPug replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
I do believe that recoloured parts counts under the new heading. In which case there’s also Metamorpho’s hand, the other lantern, the money bag, the fish, energy bolts, Joker’s hair, the skirt piece, possibly others. -

There are NO plans to sell the NHS off, just Labour’s lies. For fear of getting a slap on the wrist, this isn’t the place for politics. And even if it were, that’s one hell of a case of pot calling kettle black. End of. -

@Hoth Rebel practically an employee at a store that sells Lego doesn’t give you the inside scoop though. Unless the store got promotional material for this line long before the boxes there is a time discrepancy. The announcement was only made the other day, not exactly long enough to conduct sufficient market research to determine how much stock they should get. I would reserve my opinion on buzz until official release date. Wizarding World is very different because it tied in with the product relaunch, it was always going to be massive. Disney I can’t really comment on because that’s one line that I have seen hanging around for a long time after release, but that’s just my local area. The Batman series 2 was somewhat overkill, late coming and some of the character choices were questionable. On the flip side of that the C-list characters were popular with a lot of collectors because it was likely the only chance of getting them. I don’t think anyone could have come up with the perfect roster with scope for further releases. As a lifelong fan of DC, I want all of them and don’t care what order they come in. Harry Potter sets are getting plugged more than any other theme here, because it’s on a different level to DC. Super Heroes are dependable, whereas WW is hot. -

DC is property of Warner, much like Harry Potter. Unless they suddenly demanded a bigger piece of pie I don’t see the specific license being the issue. See my earlier post about character selection. They were never going to please everybody, especially if they want to make another series in future. Have you clarified with the store that the forty boxes they have are all they are getting? Considering they are not going to be available for another month, it seems unlikely. I honestly do not believe that a Lego store would under stock one their own products prior to its release because the interest is low. No business does that. Staff apathy may exist, but the company is going to show the same amount of pride that they do with all their products. If the interest was that low the product wouldn’t have got out of the development stage. -
In the sense that the sets names aren’t available now as was requested, then a month is a while.
-
It’ll be a while before the names become available.

See this is where art is subjective. To me the only WW figure that had outstanding printing was Trelawney. Everything else was alright. All of these - to me in any case - have excellent printing and are among of the best DC figs we have. Do I have issue with the price hike, a little, for those in the States a whole Dollar seems unnecessary. It’s part of this very old fashioned mindset about prices where you can only work in half fractions. They could put the price up by 25 cents and I think people would swallow it a little easier. At the end of the day none of us have to buy any of it, but they have us over a barrel because a) we do have to buy it, it’s Lego and b) the price of custom figs really is astronomical. There is no way I could justify buying the same amount of custom figures as there are in this set. My wife would insert them into me. -
I’m going to be honest, I don’t know what approximate scale Hogwarts is. The train is roughly 1:750.
-
Definitely too small, it’s fairground ride size in comparison to the microfigs.

Nice one, thank you. I gave up on the CMF a while ago to give Lego all my money in a different way. The same reason I only have a few TLM sets. @Mat099 jeez that thing just mops the floor with the Tumbler! Still going to find a way to get the GWP I think. @Digger of Bricks I never really got why they backdated her debut for the film. I’m guessing if they had the plot for WW84 lined up then it makes the time without Steve seem longer, but when nearly everyone who was a superhero in WW2 debuted in the Golden Age it just seems a bit weird. As long as they don’t do the era we all try and forget about, we’ll be fine. -

Star Girl has braces/retainer on her alternate face, which is a nice detail. Is this the first time they have appeared on a minifigure face? I was sold on this series the day it was leaked, but seeing them reviewed has made me even happier. I agree that Sinestro could use a new hair piece, but honestly the quality of the series is just gravy. -

No worries, it just surprised me that you can use the words perfect and useless to describe the same thing there are scores of minifigures with single use prints, really. As for figures I was being conservative as there are myriad characters who couldn’t be minifigures for accuracy, but it strengthens my point about how difficult it must have been to scale down the list. I think if they put a KC/Earth 2 Supes in the mix they would weaken their hand next time (assuming that’s the plan). They’ve done versions of the current JL seven, which I don’t think they could do again too many times, particularly with Aquaman and Cyborg as once you’ve thrown the Syndicate in the series there’s not much more scope. There’s a wad of interesting Supermen, I freely admit that, but they have to take the risk of holding back on all cool ones to start with. I don’t envy them that part of the job, certainly. -

You know they have to market this to people who don’t know who any of the characters are, right? Can you imagine how hard it must be to go through the entire DC roster, all of the Ages, Elseworlds, different Earths and other updated suit/character variants, just to find 16 that should be the right ones to please hardcore fans, casual fans, pop culture fans, Lego fans, kids, AfoLs and the lucky dip purchaser? Finding a balance that pleases enough people can’t be easy. There are something like 15,000 characters to trawl through, which is more than Disney, Harry Potter and Simpsons combined. You can’t please all of the people all of the time. Saying that certain characters and parts are useless is not only massively insulting to the designers but also reinforces my previous sentence. -

Tough shout but right now it’s Metamorpho or Huntress. Really it’s all of them, and I don’t think having them in hand will change my feelings about them. -

If the payoff for mecha is decent minifigures, I’m ok with that. As has been mentioned already, the odds of them being well trod characters are fairly high. All I want in a Batmech is the Justice Buster, but it’s not going to happen that way. I would love a Black Manta mech, but again it either won’t happen or if it did it won’t be based on the comics. Cyborg would be pretty neat. If we have Joker then some inspiration from LB2 wouldn’t hurt. Luthor doesn’t need another one, he’s dead anyway. The Toyman idea I like. There needs to be someone who either can’t feasibly afford one or doesn’t need one, it’s Lego after all. -

Yeah, I don’t know, saying ‘I really don’t think’ and then the word in quotes doesn’t really equate to each to their own. If anything it was a bit patronising. I just felt that it wasn’t necessary. -

With any luck they’ll have the guts to do a direct tie in set, after the shoehorned Shazam set. -

Well there is that, a Lego chronology of Dwayne Johnson would be good for a laugh, but specifically Black Adam. Followed by OG Scorpion King -

Hood and hair, a concept that escaped Lego with Shazam. A slicker version of the Werewolf/Beast Boy hair would be great. -

Just read the Brickset review, and all I can say is dang it. It’s really impressive. There is no way I can justify it at the moment, which is a real shame considering the GWP. The most impressive thing is how it dwarfs the Tumbler. I can still manage without that Joker, especially as it - quite creepily - looks a lot like Nicholson. Credit where it’s due, but I wouldn’t display him.
