Project: Aliens - Colonial Marines
Blacktron replied to Blacktron's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Hi Missing Brick! Thanks very much for your feedback. It's great to read you. If you own a PS3, X-Box 360 etc. you should really play this game. It might be a little buggy, old fashioned and the story is nonsens, but I think it's a Musthave for Aliens fans in spite of that. More WY Troopers are on the way. Painting them is a pain in the a.. right now. The only thing left to do is the headsculpt for the Elite Trooper, then I got all the parts I need for all four variants. It's funny you ask me a about a Alien headsculpt. Indeed I got one in the works right now. So many people have asked me about Alien Minifigures - I thought I should give it a try. Update about it in a few week And I'm looking forward to see your Medlab.... -

The first white and gray version of the Incinerator Trooper is complete. This is how they look in the videogame. I'm not 100% satisfied about it. Not an easy task working with those light colours. There is room for improvement when I build some more of these. -

Okay, time for a little update. I've just completed my work on a new group. New versions of Bishop, Lt. Gorman und the two Drop Ship Pilots. Also, as mentioned before, the Wayland-Yutani PMCs in the "Aliens - Colonial Marines" Videogame impressed me very much. This reference pic of the troopers has been on my desktop for a long time and I thought about Lego Customs of these guys. Finally I've found the time to give it a try. First I've tried the Incinerator Trooper and it took me a lonk time to sculpt the helmet, body armor and backpack for him. This is how he turned out: It seems the black Incinerator Trooper is only an Artwork. All the troopers I've seen in the game are white and grey. So there will be a second version of this trooper in these colour. When I was satisfied with the prototype sculpt and molds, I've made some more of those black troopers. Long term plan is to build the other three troopers too. That would be the Way-Yu Smartgunner, Elite PMC and regular PMC. I doubt there is much interest for Custom Way-Yu troopers from other aliens fans. But if there is, I will offer some of those in the Sale Thread. -

Hi Razeak! Sure, go ahead. Availability, prices, shipping costs - you'll find in this thread: http://www.eurobrick...pic=58464&st=50 or write me a mail to: RomeVox@web.de @topic: I will really go down that route of making the Wayland Yutani PMCs. The flamethrower trooper will be the first one I'll post pictures of. Soon... -
Thats a beautiful, Mecha! Fantastic work - I love it.

Hi eoianhen! I've only made the custom minifigures for those awesome dioramas. Everything else (including powerloader and Dropship) is made by Missing Brick. You find what I have available right now in my latest posting. Pictures of them all (7 Marines + 2 Smartgunners) are in this thread. Also there is a thread about the Aliens custom minifigures in the customs section: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=57638&st=50 -

Update 07/2014: I've shipped all orders that were on the waiting list. Also I've made two complete sets more to offer here at the forum. Those will be ready for shipping on Friday. Hicks x 1 Hudson x 1 Apone x 1 Dietrich x 2 Frost x 2 Wierzbowski x 2 Crowe x 2 Smartgunners: Vasquez x 2 Drake x 2 Smartgunners are $20, Marines $17, international shipping (insured $10) I've made some new molds for some figures. Vasquez has new headgear now. I'll post some pictures soon. Also it seems I've found a solution for the helmet problem. I'm in the process of making new molds for all USCM helmet types. All these should have a better fit in the future. -

Thanks for your feedback, Razeak. You watch the Aliens movies with a 6 year old? I think I was about 12 or 13 when I watched them for the first time and I had nightmares about facehuggers for weeks. -

Thanks for your feedback. :-) I don't know about Fury Prisoners or the Rescue Squad of Alien 3. I never liked them very much. What I would love to do is some of the Way-Yu troops from the colonial marines game. But the problem is there are no heads from Lego available that would fit for them. http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20130606151922/avp/images/1/1c/CON_WYPMC.jpg -

Aliens - Colonial Marines Custom Minifigs
Blacktron replied to Blacktron's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Thanks very much for this feedback, Missing Brick. Another thing that might be interesting is that the material I use is a kind of Resin that is reacting to the room temperature. The parts are very stiff and robust on "normal temperature days". But when it's very hot - like right now - they become a little more flexible. When they cool down again they might become a little wider then they have been before. The difference is so minimal - you don't even realize that. But it might be the explanation for the clutch power problem of some helmets. This is driving me mad sometimes. I want every helmet to fit tight to the minifigure head and they always do when I ship custom minifigures. But sometimes they don't stay this way. Your solution for such helmets is a very good idea. Not easy for me to explain this in english. I hope it didn't sound to abstruse. -

Update 06/2014: The interest in colonial marines custom figures is pretty high right now. All figures are sold out at the moment. Also I got no Resin and almost no basic figures left to build new ones. I need a few weeks to order new materials and build new figures. But please everyone feel encouraged to contact me in spite of that if you're interested. My plan is to write a Waiting list and contact you end of June, as soon as I got new figures to offer. Please keep in mind every custom piece of those figures is handmade and handpainted. I don't want to get in a rush when I'm making new ones, because haste makes waste and I want to keep and even improve the high quality standards I have. So please be patient. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion
Blacktron replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
So far I like the dino tracker and the and video game guy. The two-color arms are nice. But the space miner is a great disappointment for me. I've been waiting so long for a new Sci-Fi minifigure. I was hoping for nice astronaut with classic space logo, a female blacktron villain or something like that. So I don't like this space miner at all. The color scheme is so ugly. With a better color choice, this could have been a cool reinterpretation of M-Tron. But this way it is just ugly.- 1,109 replies

That's cool. I love those bodies on the wall, the diorama and your atmospheric lighting, which is perfect as usually. Vasquez is such a nice figure, but a pain in the *** to make. I prefer this headpiece over the alternate one with the targeting sight, which is flimsy and very hard to make.

Thanks very much! -
The helmet is custom made. It's a casted and painted A-Wing pilot helmet.

Thanks very much for all these nice comments. I've modified a few sections. The wheel parts on the guns are dark bluish grey now instead of neon green. Also the discs on the sides turn now with the wheels. The gun can now be aimed upwards, just like Missing Brick suggested. I think a small weapon on the tower is a really nice idea too, VK-318. I'll ad one. Great comments, guys.

Maybe this would be my solution. A few years ago when I bought some sets on ebay I got real angry when I found out that some of the parts were glued. The auction text didn't mention that with one word. How can anyone glue lego parts? If you want to glue stuff, build a model kit! Well - when I build my APC, I changed my mind about this. I glued some of the parts for the moving side door. I think the mechanism is a little fragile and the door/roof part. + always came of. I didn't want to repair that anytime I was holding the APC in my hand, so I made this decission. Okay, gluing parts in a way is cheating, but I'm sure I will never dissemble the APC, so I'm okay with it if 1-2 bricks are glued.

I love it! It turned out even better than I thought it would be. Absolutely amazing! I wish I could build one too.

You're welcome. I enjoy this colonial marines project very much and your awesome MOCs and dioramas are a great inspiration for me too. I keep saying to me "No, you don't have enough shelf space and dark bluish grey parts to try this", but I'm not sure if that will keep me away from trying it on the long term. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to find the perfect solution for the folding weapon arms. I hope you'll find it and I'm looking forward to see more detail pics. You clearly deserve much more comments for this MOC. Sometimes I really don't understand this emphasis here on eurobricks.
-
Wow! Your dropship turned out to be beautifully! That thing is huge! You did it all in dark bluish grey, didn't you? Have you solved the problem with the folding weapon arms? I wish I had enough shelf space for this, I would start building right now. My second problem would be I don't have nearly enough bricks in that color to build this. That would take hundreds of bricklink expenses. She is a beauty.

Thanks buddy, that's a great idea. The guns can only swivel to the sides, but not that I'm thinking about it, this should be no problem with some exoforce joints. Thanks very much for your feedback. I like these chima wheels too. I need more of them.
