Project: Aliens - Colonial Marines
Blacktron replied to Blacktron's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Thanks very much for your comments. The pics I've posted are only work in progress. The green tone of the helmet and armor is only the greenstuff material I've sculpted with. The final color of the copied parts will be darker with a camo pattern on it. Also there will be a neck protection on the back end of the helmet. I've decided to make this thing a seperate piece, because it would be impossible to turn the heads, if it was part of the helmet. When the copied parts are ready I have to decide which basic lego body to use for the figures. I still have problem deciding if I should use tan, dark tan or maybe sand green? The camo pattern of the movie marines includes all these colors. Also I really have a hard time finding some dark skinned heads for Apone and Frost. Lego didn't produce many, especially there aren't any in the new style of the collectable minifigures. In 4 series of minifigures (64 in total!), why isn't there any black guy? It seems the only choise for Apone might be a Lando Calrissian head in the older style. -
When I was a child, I was a huge fan of the second Alien Movie - Aliens. I spend many hours in creating a Powerloader, APC and a dropship with my Lego bricks. Also I did start with my first Lego figure customizations at this time period. A few weeks ago I found some of these old colonial marines from my childhood in a box and started to think about, if I should try to rebuild those custom figures with my materials and sculpting skills of today. I started to sculpt a Lego style colonial marines helmet. If this would turn out to be okay, I would make molds of it, to duplicate it many times, for an entire platoon or army of marines. After a few trys, I had sculpted a marines helmet I liked. So I started to build two differnt versions of the marines body armor. I sculpted this and used a Lego Icehockey protection armor as a base. One of my two prototype version turned out to look like this: Right now I have a mold for the helmet and I'm in the process of making a mold of the second body armor version. Combined with a brickarms pulse rifle, this is how my prototype parts look right now. Just let me know what you think about it. Suggestions and critisim are welcome.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
Blacktron replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I didn't know about the price increase. Wow, thats really bad news. I was glad I've found a hobby that I can afford. But if the price rises from 1,99 Euro to 2,49 Euro, I will stop collecting these. I share the opinion that this simply isn't fair. That is about 5 Euros for 2 figs, 10 Euros for 4 figs. No, I'm not willing to pay that much. Lego toys aren't exactly cheap. If you watch moms with their kids in the toy isle, they don't want to spend much money for toys on a regular day. Most lego sets get bought in time before christmas or as a birthday gift. 1,99 Euros was a high, but affordable price for a regular minifig. It was a price moms and dads were willing to pay on a "normal day", when they go shopping. I believe sales will drop massivly after the price increase. -
REVIEW: 8805 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5
Blacktron replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Great review! But I'm not that exited about this new series. I'm not that kind of guy who is trying to get a full collection of all. I've picked out only the Space and Horror figures from series 1-4, and whatever I needed for figure custom projects. Without any Space and Classic Horror characters in this series - I find it pretty boring. I hope to see more exiting figures in series 6. -
The Titan Tracker is one of my alltime favorite exoforce secondary models. You can also find pics of all the alternative models and building inspirations here. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=403701 I'm so thankfull, that someone saved them.

Yup, thats the one. This guy is my favorite polybag set. And it seems almost impossible to find. And yes, it was in my dark ages too. They have lastet until last winter. Since that I'm collecting old Space Police, Blacktron and esspecially Exoforce sets like crazy.

I'm a big fan of the exoforce line, but I haven't bought any of those polybag sets yet. They are not that cheap on the secondary market as they should be. I would'nt want to pay more than $4 or 4 Euros for such a small set. To be honest, I think this is the worst one of those few polybag sets. Just for the reasons Dunjohn mentioned before. Those wings and guns must weight a ton and poor Hikaru is forced to lift them, hold them and operate them just with his muscle power. It's not just the fact that this isn't very realistic, it's also not what a mecha or exo armor is build for. Your review is great and Hikaru is a great mini figure, but this Glider is just a for me. PS: I would love to read a review about this silver Robot bad guy polybag set. This thing seems to be so rare, seems almost like non existend on the secondary market. Which brings me to the question: Where have these sets been available? I know some of them came with special packs of duracell batterys, but I could'nt find any infos about the robot.

I don't know any of the Mechwarrior games, but I really love all of your models. I'm very much into building Mechs and Exoforce MOCs right now and these designs are really inspiring. Fantastic job!

I miss Blacktron,Space Police,Ice Planet and Spyrius
Blacktron replied to LEGO AFOL's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I love all the old Blacktron I and Space Police I sets. But I think Space Police III has been a good line too. But it would have been a much better idea to bring Blacktron back, instead of those alien criminals. I've collected a lot of those space villain mini figures to build a Blacktron III line later on. When I saw the first pics of the Alien Conquest line, I was really disapointed. I like the new minifigs, but I'm not the biggest fan of those new color schemes and this new style. I'm not sure what kind of line I would do, if I was a Lego designer. -
After collecting the Exoforce line massivly in the last few month, I've started to build some exoforce models of my own. I hope you like them. Robots - Arachnogressor. Robots - Stealth Scout (The dark blue fingers will be replaced by black ones) Heros - Aqua Defender

Thanks very much for all this feedback, the welcome greetings and for your suggestions. I think the same way. With more modern bricks this could be much more mobile and poseable. But I've tried to keep it in the classic way. It's pretty oldschool, but I have to admit, I would prefer more joints. Cool idea. I copletely agree with you. When I first saw the Blacktron torso in the Space Police III line and the space villain, I really thought this would be a teaser for a new Blacktron line. But now Space Police is finished without any new Blacktron releases. I have a longterm plan to collect the complete Space Police III line and build my own Blacktron enemies fraction. I've already collected lots of the Space Villains badguys from the minifigures assortment. It's just a matter of saving money and collecting bricks to realize this idea.

Hey guys, I got back into collecting Lego last winter and created some Blacktron I, Space Police I and Exoforce MOCs since that. In this thread I'd like to show you the Blacktron I creations. Hope you like em. This line was my favorite Lego Line in my childhood and I still love them. I wish Lego would do a Blacktron III line. I would prefer this over the new Alien Conquest line. Blacktron Attack Walker based on the old grey Walker from the early 80s. Blacktron Observer, based on the Futuron Spaceship. Blacktron Heavy Assault Vehicle - own creation. Blacktron Assault Exo Suit - own creation.

I've been out of the hobby of collecting lego for 10 years. I've collected stuff like Hasbros Star Wars line, Masters of the universe and so on. Until in last December my girlfriend spotted a big bux of lego bricks in my basement. She asked me if we could build something with it, and so we did. This event has brought me back into the hobby. After building some old Space Police I and Blacktron sets (that was my favorite line), I've started to watch out in Ebay for new sets. After a short phase of Space Police and Blacktron, I've focused on Exoforce and I'm still collecting. I think Exoforce was one of the best lines Lego ever did. It was fresh, very futuristic, had a cool story and some of the mechas really look outstanding. So Exoforce was a new exploration for me and I'm still far from a completed line. I have a lot of fun collecting it and building my own Exoforce models. It was I who told my buddy DJ Force, that the Exoforce Section of the Lego website is down. I was very disapointed when I've found out. There were some building instructions for alternative Exoforce models on this site, which are all gone now. I think thats the major problem. It took me a few hours until I had finally found a lego fan who had saved all the pics of the website. I felt really relieved when I had recovered this alternative model instructions.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
Blacktron replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I've collected not the whole series, but only the Space and Horror figures like the Cyborg, Astronaut, Vampire, Zombie etc. So I'm a little disapointed right now, because there aren't any Space or Horror Characters in Series 5. :-(
