Project: Aliens - Colonial Marines
Blacktron replied to Blacktron's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I've build some new figures. This time I've concentrated on the second half of the movie Aliens. Vasquez without smartgunner armor: Hicks without helmet: And (for the first time) Ripley as she appears at the end of movie: -
They're getting better and better. Your command center is great and I love the outside corridor too. The pictures of Hudson and Vasquez standing in the corridor, reading their motiontrackers are just fantastic. Looks like freeze frames from a stop motion picture. Your lightning is also perfection. I still feel very honored to see those custom build minifigures in your dioramas. It gives me motivation for my colonial marines project. You present and showcase them in a perfect way. The only minifigure I'm not so sure about is Burke, but I know this guy is very difficult to build.

My newest versions of Hicks, Apone and Hudson. I don't know why Apone is always my favorite. For the first time with flamethrower. -
That is a fantastic MOC, Hersbrucker. I wasn't much into M-Tron in the 80s. But with cool bases like this one - I would have been. This Hangar in the rocks is cool and I love the design of the base.

Looks like the Sulaco from Aliens and the Serenity from Firefly had a love affair and the Novum Horizonti is the result of that. I like the design and the colors very much. Good work.

Project colonial marines is still running. Right now I'm building an APC, working on some new marine parts and finally I've found a fitting flamethrower for them. Newest figures I've made were a Bishop and Dropship Pilot minifigure. Also a fellow Colonial marines fan asked me for some unpainted armors, so he could build and paint his own little squad(s). Here you can see the unpainted parts - body armors, shoulder lamps and helmets with the neckflap attached. -

Simpsons Collectable Minifigures aka Series 13 (non-official term)
Blacktron replied to kasmca's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I don't know. Didn't TLG say that there will be two series of minifigures based on the Lego movie? I thought series 12 and 13 would be movie characters. If this rumor turns out to be true, well that would be an easy pass for me. I'm not a simpsons fan and have no interest in any minifigures based on them. I'm not sure if I like those experiments TLG is doing with the collectible minifigures. -
Well, half of them are your designs. Your diorama would be so great as a movie set. Whats next? "They cut the power?" Oh, poor Hudson...
-
I think this is one of my favorites so far. That operations room is very well done and the perfect lightning is the icing on the cake. Also I like how you posed the minifigures. They look so relaxed and natural. Great work! ...and I really think I need a Ripley now that I've seen this.

Well, if Blacktron would return I can only hope they don't use colors or designs of Blacktron II. Simply because Blacktron I was so much better than Blacktron II. There aren't many space lines that don't use white as the main color. Doing a space line in black was a rare and encouraged step for TLG. Blacktron I were cool Badguys, while Blacktron II was like any other space line.

Selling to canadians? Hmm - I really don't know... ...just kidding - of course I would sell to canada. Just write me an email at RomeVox@web.de when you're ready. I really need to update the thread. The latest marines I've made are selling faster than I had expected. Maybe I have to build some new ones soon. -
It's the same with me. I was collecting Star Wars since my childhood and have a very large collection of vintage and new line Star Wars figures from Hasbro and Kenner. But I stopped collecting during the prequel trilogy. I just didn't like the new movies as much as I love the old ones. I've never collected Lego Star Wars. I simply think the sets are much to expensive. Agreed - I would love to see that too. I think it's time to see a new CMF astronaut. So far we had only 2. I count the other guys as blacktron/robots/aliens. How do you imagine those revival astronauts? 1:1 the old design or updated ones? For me it would be like the CMF series 1 astronaut, but with the classic space logo on the chest and no other printings on legs, arms and torso.

When I see all this support for Blacktron and Classic Space here, I really think TLG should try a remake of those classic themes. I'm not sure if there are enough nostalgic classic space fans out there who would support a line like this. But on the other hand it seems Space sets aren't very successfull at all these days. Alien conquest did'nt do so well and it seems Galaxy Squad isn't that successfull either. So maybe it would'nt hurt TLG to give it a try. They could do only one wave with some updated classic space colored ships and vehicles and a few blacktron vehicles in this same wave as oponents. I would love to see that. Rench and the CMF space vallain showed how cool an updated blacktron line could be.

Wow, another fantastic MOC, Missing Brick. The atmospere and lightning is amazing. Very well done. Also your Ripley turned out very nice. I didn't think the modified frodo hair would look so good on her. Which hair did you use for Hicks? Is this Mr. Sleepyhead? Very nice.

Absolutely beautiful, Missing Brick! Your dioramas are so full of love for the movie. Great details, great light, it captures the atmosphere of the movie so well - I love it! Also your APC looks great with those new lights. I'm still working here on mine. I need to make 1-2 more bricklink orders to get all the needed parts - but then my car broke down and since then I have to spend every cent for that damn beast. I hope I can complete my APC this fall.

Hi Corsari! I got a sale thread for the marines here on eurobricks. You can find everything that is available right now with the prices there. If you want some smartgunners too or a whole group of marines, of course we can talk about the price. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=58464 -
Aliens - Colonial Marines Custom Minifigs
Blacktron replied to Blacktron's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Update 07/2013: Available right now: 3 Type 1 Marines (the generic ones): $14 each. 7 Movie Character Marines (Hicks, Hudson, Apone, Dietrich, Crowe, Wierbowski and Frost) $17 each. 2 Smartgunners (Vasquez and Drake) $20 each. -
I love it! Your Gorman turned out nice and I love the crawling alien. With the red light this is spot on to the movie scene. Great work!
-
Thanks very much, Andrew. I'm sure I will need them.

I don't know. Since two years I love this APC design by Larry Lars. But I think it looks so complicated, I was afraid I would not be able to copy it. Now I've studied your picture and those of Larry Lars again and I've made a bricklink order. I hope I can ask you for help, if I have problems with it. Also thanks very much for these documentary links. They are simply great!
-
I can't find the words to say how much I love this picture. Absolutely fantastic work, Missing Brick! You made my day.

Thanks very much, DPrime.

Thanks for your feedback! This is the model that was the inspiration for my MOC. The mechanism for the legs was pretty complicated to build, but you can't see very much of it on the pics. About the color scheme: Well, I have my own Neo Blacktron color scheme going on, inspired by the Blacktron Torso of space police III. http://www.eurobrick...blacktron +mocs I love the original blacktron colors but I wanted to go into a different direction for my MOCs. More sinister, dangerous and modern. I think it's okay to have a different Blacktron color scheme, because Blacktron II was also different than Blacktron I in the 80s. Who knows how Blacktron III would look if Lego would do a modern line.
