I'll just have to use it in an XP virtual machine then I guess. -
LDD can't Load or Save

You need to waste money on an apple airport station to use time machine unfortunatley. I'm getting a real computer soon but its still a hinderance now. -
Hi I have Lego Digital Designer 4.3, (latest version, latest brickset - However when I am In there and try to save a model it then crashes after I type the filename and hit enter. It does save it but when I click on it, LDD says it cannot open the file. If I cick on an pre existingLXF file, LDD opnes for a second then crashes. I recently "upgraded" to mac OSX 10.10.1 so maybe this has something to do with it? I tried installing LDD again but it does not help. Please help!

[MOD] 42029 Custom Pick-up Full RC
SNIPE replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I put the steering motor under the engine myself, the steering axle connects directly to the steering motor. The 42029 is one of the best models to customize so use lego digital designer and buy some misc technic elements. You should learn things by experimentation. -

My fav is also the artic truck as it contrins the most of new parts and it is a cool color. I like how they have chamfered the hole on the new clutch on both sides to that a pin/axlestop can fit properly into it but they should have still made it ever so slightly thinner so the old clutch ring works with it. -

I'm kinda dissapointed that the new double sides clutch gear only works with the new selector ring. How is that? -

To me the mechanisms are more important than the design in technic, technic was created ideally for mechanisms though it has moved more into design now, so I like this set personally. -

How about using the motors as part of the chassis so a lot of the weight just sits on top of the motor's casing? -

Hi I will upload images of the final setup soon. In the last-most picture, the wishbones are 4L apart so the axle is 2.5L (which is in the middle of 4L) I've since made it 5 L instead of 4. This enables me to have more suspention travel & ground clearance, and to have the steering and suspention arms at a simular angle to one another In regards to the universal joints, I'm not sure if they are in the normal configuration, but it's the only one which really works, because they can be angled quite a lot without touching the wishbones, and because the front UV joint pivot is parralel to the frontt wishbone pivots, without that it would have poor turning radius and have little suspention travel & ground clearance.

Hi The AWD is finished, Im working on the gearbox right now. I did try to put a 1x6 plate under the steering rack but there is no such gear that is small enough to then fit in the hole and mesh with the gear rack. I'm using a 5l Steering rack, shame it didnt work as the geomotiry would have been close to perfect but the steering arms are almost at the same angle to The suspention arms anyhow. The gearbox has 4 hi and 4 lo speeds and is extremley small (3Lx5Lx7L) but fitting it in and bracing it is very tricky . Regards, Snipe

I just put 'engineering' on my CV Because its true. It's important to put hobbies and interests on the CV As it can give you an advantage if its either part of the job, or a side skill which the employer may find useful. If somebody whos just as good as you does a just as good CV for the same company but leaves out the interests/hobbies then you might get the job instead if you do put them in. Regards, Snipe

Thanks soo much Now I can quickly find the best price for the parts I need for my MOC. Could it be possible to have brickwizard get the shipping cost? Does Bricklink show the shipping cost or does that have to be sent to the buyer in a message from the seller? If it shows the shipping cost then brickwizard could get that and then tell the user what it is. I know sounds hard but its nice to have.

You gotta have one small torquey motor doing as much as it can do. Look at the 42009, and I think that can be modded so the motor can also drive the wheels. I try to use as few parts as I can however still keep it rigid so that it does not break. my problem used to be that I was doing this the wrong way, cramming everything into one unit and forgetting that theres differentials, shafts and gears far away that need connecting. so now I space it out properly but still use as little parts as possible. Bodywork adds a fair bit of weight, I'm fine not having bodywork as I like to see the internals but I'm sure most people would rather have bodywork on their models. I try to make my models have good handling however since it can be impossible or very hard to do, having poor handling is ok.

Cant you just use Hall effect to Measure the RPM? a little off topic but. -
Gearbox Output Speeds
SNIPE replied to SNIPE's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
if there is definetley at least 2 extra speeds, that will do me, they have very low RPM's compared to the regular 4 speeds. I might just call them 'crawler gears' or is that for lorries ?, The idea is for at least 6 speeds so it does not have to be 8, I wanted something small So 6 speed is fine for the pickup truck. and might just fit in it. Having 4 drive rings, given the area I have to fit the whole unit in is not doable sorry, However since this has a 24+8 then an 8+24 it reduces the train on the motor, I tested i with an L motor and it seemed to work fine. I originally had neural as 1st gear so 1 drive ring was for 3 speeds but maybe its better to keep neutral even though the functions switcher gearbox does disengage the motor from 'drive' to something else such as 'winch' so it acts a bit like neutral there. -

What will the RPMs be for these speeds that use the white friction gear
