Ninjago wish list: Most wanted minifigures
Lucarex replied to Dr.Cogg's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Aside from the obvious Narwhal warrior, would love an army (albeit settle for a 'battle pack') of volcano-burnt Shark Army generals, just to recreate that zombie-like scene in TLNM. -
Always a disappointment when a theme goes out with a whimper rather than a bang.

[PRESS RELEASE] 21313 LEGO Ideas: Ship in a Bottle
Lucarex replied to VBBN's topic in Special LEGO Themes
So I can see this being an ongoing thread...."what have you managed to squeeze/imprison inside the bottle"? I can see me giving into temptation next week, my 7yo already asked several times this evening "are we getting it?". Oh and who came up with precisely 284 1x1s as the ideal number? -
Yes yes and yes! I won't hold my breath though as seemingly popular historical themes such as Egypt, sold poorly as Pharaoh's Quest proved (the Pyramid remains a favourite set in my house). Even licensing with Indiana Jones and more recently, the awful Prince of Persia, didn't fare much better. As for a Mount Olympus type theme, I'd buy in a heartbeat. Very interesting discussion in general though. NK has been one of my son's favourite themes primarily due to the "castle and knights" elements and the really cool villains/monsters of waves 1 and 2 (even if the BoM teased some fantastic sea/forest concepts that never came). That said, other than a few great large sets, there was a lot of repetitive vehicles and it's a shame the line has ended on such an underwhelming note (tech infection, really?).

Tomb/resting place is very different to a temple/place of worship. I cited that example myself on the Taj reissue thread (that it was actually a Hindu temple), although the Indian court ruling concluded otherwise. I stand corrected about that, have the set myself and never made the connection. Yes, it's iconic of the skyline (so "makes sense" as you say), but it's very much an exception to the Ideas rule that I believe applies across the board.

They should just can it permanently at this point. Las Vegas as an Architecture set was always an odd and uninspired choice. Can't believe they haven't yet done San Francisco or Stockholm.

[PRESS RELEASE] 21313 LEGO Ideas: Ship in a Bottle

"Ship" in Bottle or Shanghai? #firstworldafoldilemma -
TLG has strict policy on "buildings of religious significance". They don't go there. *** Just saw the prelim new Architecture set pics... Great Wall looks interesting enough, lovely execution and will go on my "very likely purchase" list. The SOL much less so, probably because it's such a ubiquitous symbol without any "architectural" context or fit within the existing line. Lazy "tourist" choice when there's so many others out there crying out for recreation in brick form. Likewise I wasn't a fan of Buck Palace.

[PRESS RELEASE] 21313 LEGO Ideas: Ship in a Bottle
Lucarex replied to VBBN's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Keep flip-flopping on this one. Love the concept, not quite the execution (unlike the Old Fishing Store which ticked both boxes) Thought required to see if something else works in the bottle other than the polybag-esque ship. -
[MOD] Submersible Bipedal Armored Fighting Shark
Lucarex replied to koalayummies's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Aaahh what a fantastic mod of an already great (if pricey) set, and has pushed me over the edge... -
Arrrgh, missed the Portuguese catalog leak and its now taken down. Anyone that cares to PM, especially just the Arctic sets prelims, would have my undying gratitude... ***edit - thank you***

Inspired MOC, even bordering on genius. The details, clever usage and overall execution is perfect. Even the pipe organ ensures the figure isn't mistaken for a criminal barrister Would buy this in a heartbeat, it's the only BH (other than carbonite-frozen Han) that gives me that "me want!!!" feeling.

Can't wait to see images of the Arctic sets...super-excited about the rumoured prehistoric elements and orca whale!

Picked this little gem up whilst grabbing a TLNM Volcano Lair and Pirhana. For under £20, impossible not to and will sit nicely alongside the RI.

Thanks, so basically this week or next is possible. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Lucarex replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
As much as it's often cited by architecture types as "ahead of its time", Trellick Tower is such an unattractive eyesore that it deserves to be made out of MegaBl*ks. -
The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
Lucarex replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Sorry if I've missed it but do we have a store ETA for the new wave (Egghead mech etc). yet? Before/after the CMF 2? Pre or post Christmas? -
Agree completely, and my boy just LOVES the Shark Army. Thankfully neither of us are keen on the new SoG wave, so that'll save me having to sell a spare body organ

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Lucarex replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Was really hoping to see Krakenskull from Nexo 30755 available again (aware it was a few months back), but sadly not. -
Very clever. Would love to see a Lego 007 theme, but accept it's not really child-appropriate and anyway, licensing would be near-impossible to secure.

If Vegas is deleted, or delayed, is it possibly related to the Mandalay Bay Hotel massacre? Too soon afterwards.

2014 research theme was Arctic (given the polar bear) so assume 2018 will swap poles and we'll see penguins, like the S16 CMF.

Stockholm, Barcelona and especially San Francisco would make for great Skyline sets if done properly. I'm struggling after this and suspect the line may have run its course. Shanghai looks good but Las Vegas? Please.... Paris I think has been well covered already with the Eiffel, Louvre and Arc d'Triomphe sets. Billund sets are already out there if very limited to locality (airport, House etc.) Personally, I'd like to see a return to larger-scale buildings of architectural interest, like Falling Water, Imperial Hotel, etc. although I accept they were probably a commercial fail compared with the recent well known smaller-scale models. For me, the new Guggenheim strikes the right balance of size, complexity and parts/price ratio, following nicely on from the Louvre and before it, the Trevi Fountain (still one of my favourites). Was also disappointed the Venetian House submission for Ideas was rejected, and blindly hoping it was because there's a similar theme/concept already in progress in the Architecture line.

Nice models but those prices....ouch!
