  1. There are members with fewer than 50 posts but have submitted an entry for the contest. Can they vote?
  2. Yes, I think that is the biggest letdown with the model. Unfortunately, with the doors right behind the wheels and the fact that the wheels are already too big, I couldn't put any. I thought of using construction paper or something of the like, but that would be against the contest rules. Thank you, it did turn out very well.
  3. Man, there are just so many great entries! 33: 10 9: 6 53: 4 29: 3 59: 2 20: 1 It was really hard to pick just five, but I have confidence that my other choices will also make it to the top ten split.
  4. This is awesome! Are you thinking of making instructions? If not, I'll go ahead and start reverse-engineering the bodywork.
  5. I find it funny that people were calling out the "panel gaps". You can clearly see that they are intentional.
  6. 37. McLaren F1 GTR Features: All-around independent suspension, Rear-wheel-drive, V10, Working steering wheel that turns the front wheels, Butterfly-wing doors, Opening engine cover and rear axle cover Very fun to drive around and listen to the engine. Here is a video with the functions followed by some pictures. Finally, a link to the thread: Thank you for reading!
  7. Okay, your words of encouragement worked. I had already mostly disassembled it by the time I read these comments but I decided to finish it anyways. I'm taking this personally. But it's true. I have a very bad habit of not finishing my models Here it is! I'm really not happy with it, but as most of you said, it was almost done. I just had to throw something together. I'll go write my entry post now.
  8. Thank you, I have corrected it. Thanks! Thank you! Well, I come bearing bad news. I have given up. I don't know how to design the front end. Bodywork really is my weakness. I built a good chassis, but functions alone don't win the contest. Here's where I'll leave it. The doors do look pretty cool though. The rear suspension is a system I'll use again: it's reliable, compact, and fairly ingenious. Anyways, thank you to those who followed this design process. I'm sorry I couldn't pull through. Good luck to the other contestants!
  9. That looks much better. At the same time, I think extending the bodywork forward of the doors by one stud would make it look a lot better. Or try lifting the rear. Otherwise you're doing great! I will definitely copy your bodywork and build a chassis myself once you're done.
  10. Sorry for the bump, but do you have instructions for this updated version of the model? All I can find is the one with the weird wheel arches.
  11. I believe your front hood-line is too high. Makes it look like it has a fat front end.
  12. Nice truck, I built it too (not the final model, but I can't seem to find any pictures of it completed). The MOC can be found here: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-21344/ArsMan064/baja-trophy-truck/?inventory=1#comments Remember: not my design.
  13. Actually, I have. I was building a bridge with it and at failed on the only black element on the bridge. Rest was LBG.
  14. That's because having steering, drive, and suspension in a 15-17 stud space is incredibly challenging and involves some clever tricks. As for the anti-timeout, I have no clue what that is, so I can't help you there. That said, I'm trying to develop the same for a Skyline model I'm making. I'll be sure to post it here if I manage :)
  15. @mudseason There are a lot of options available if you go through the threads labelled [TC18].
  16. I have made quite a few fake engines in the past. When I was in Cadets I taught a class on engine configurations. I had to cover V-type, flat, inline, radial, and rotary engines. The link below has images of each one that I built, but the rotary was by far my favourite one. it's a bit bulky but made it easy to see how the rotor moves within the housing. https://flic.kr/s/aHsmMDwFVx
  17. There are a huge number of competing entries right now. This is great! I've been doing a lot of college work in the past few day, so I didn't get too much done. Nonetheless, here's my progress! I basically finished the rear. I will no move over to the front and then the sides. The rear engine cover opens now, and the rear panel (I don't know what to call it) can be removed when the engine cover is open. Otherwise it is locked in place. Black is a really hard picture to photograph. I decided to use the 3x13 curved panels over the wheels for the sake of simplicity. Anything else would have weighed a lot more and been overly complex. I don't really mind them, so they're staying. Finally, I recently got a shipment of the small fender pieces (like from the Corvette) in white. I might make another entry for TC18, then decide which to use. Again, we'll have to see when I finish this one.
  18. I was wondering why you only used a flat-six in your model, but after a quick wikipedia search I learned that the 956 in fact did not have a flat-twelve like I thought. This is a good start, I will follow this thread for more :D
  19. 1. the pictures you provided are "blocked" to me 2. You have already shared that picture of the real car.
  20. Well, I have been silent for a couple days and haven't gotten much done. I spent some time refining the rear end. I'm still undecided on those rear quarter-panels, but on the bright side the engine covers can be opened/removed easily! Speaking of opening, the front hood also opens, but not by much... After spending time trying to build the front fenders I decided that the front end will look very disproportionate. The hood will be too high and the fenders too bulky. The rear end will be the opposite: too low. I don't yet know how I'm going to fix it, or even if I'm going to fix it at all :/ Finally, I thought I didn't have to worry about the 41-stud length limit, it turns out my car is currently at 39 studs. Thankfully it doesn't have to get any longer Thank you, this model has so much potential!
  21. Does CaDa source their parts from other companies, or do they use their own?
  22. I don't want to be nit-picky, but I feel like editing four images together into one would count as "one image," but instead as four. Maybe I'm missing the point of why we're restricted to three images though.
