Excellent 16-wide shop building. Its funny how all of the 2x2 tiles are believable album artwork given the strange choices often seen in real life. Bold choice for the first floor color as well, it works perfectly for a record store. Excellent work.

Advice on posting MOC instructions
koalayummies replied to sammy_zammy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Youtube or Bricksafe are two popular ones, youtube for step-by-step videos and Bricksafe for digital files. You can post the MOC here on EB in the respective theme forum with link to instructions. No restrictions, you can share them. If you're worried about that then the only way to be sure is to not share them. Unfortunately those types of people exist and they ruin the fun of sharing designs and cool builds for free. -
Help with identifying parts/sets!

Bricklink: "Hero Factory Weapon Barrel with 2 Pin Holes and 3 Axle Holes" Brickset: "Weapon barrel etc." -
And given the current and foreseeable global economic climate that's probably a stretch. I think Ideas sets of retired themes would be a good way to bring back some of the key pieces that helped complete the look of these themes but that reviving the themes as waves of multiple sets is probably unlikely. You really only need a few specific pieces and figures to compliment what are otherwise fairly universal parts in a given theme, the pirate bay has done just that.

This is legendary. Archive material. Bookmarked.

Yes this is exactly why I supported this project. It was the idea, the concept of a new, non-licensed pirate set, the pirate parts, something pirate-y that Lego pirate fans could get at a reasonable non-retired-set price. The submission is certainly enjoyable but the refinement of it is exemplary. And thanks to Bricky_Brick we have a new 'classic' pirates set.

Picturing this is very comical. How could I forget the licensed content aspect, this just doubled the sales! There's no way I would have believed you had you not provided that link to video . Mind, blown. -
Amazing. The Ideas team's expansion and refinement skills are second to none. They were given a brown shanty island and turned it into a classic pirates paradise and beautiful square rigged ship. This is a fantastic regeneration to the pirates theme. Absolutely brilliant work Lego Ideas designers. A round of grog for all!

Use of 'Classic Fire' logo for a record label...
koalayummies replied to BrickWild's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I never said it grants protection, publishing the previously listed examples helps establish copyright. One cannot use a work for commercial purposes unless those rights have been expressly waived. I'm guessing personal usage one of the murky Creative Commons licenses is the reason for this indifference. The record label in discussion is using another company's creation for his own personal commercial usage (album cover, sales). Whether a basic Photoshop>flip horizontal is altering it enough from the original like Shepard Fairey's Obama/AP Photo is for the courts to decide. This sounds like an idle approach to copyright enforcement. If your work was being used for commercial purposes without your express consent and agreement (especially within the same country you reside), or you waived your rights by releasing to the public domain/one of the 'Creative Commons' licenses that allows for commercial usage so long as the creator is attributed then easy money was given away along with rights [unless it was being used in another country other than your own that has poor copyright protections and thus not likely to be fruitful in damages]. There are individual photographers that make 5-6 figures a year (US dollars) just from copyright suits, as easy as emailing their lawyers who deal exclusively with copyright. TLG could very well have a case here. You don't agree so that's basically the end of this back and forth. You may have the last response. Username -

You don't have to prove malicious intent, all you have to prove is that you created it; with some works its easier than others like digital photographs (exif/metadata/raw files). For a doodle or a song publishing it online can establish copyright. Proving that another party was using it for commercial purposes is easy. A large company like TLG wouldn't have much trouble with this except for what you pointed out the statute of limitations depending on jurisdiction. -

Those doodles would be protected under copyright. You can't take someone else's work and use it for your commercial purposes without an agreement. Also copyright is secured automatically when the work is created. Registration of the work is not required, under US law registration is not a condition of copyright protection. -

Should make a distinction as to what figures we're talking about because the blind bag figures "CMF" have always been notoriously loose in the arm and leg hinges and are reportedly made in a different factory from figures that come in boxed sets. My boxed set figures arms and legs actually seem to get tighter over time and the 1990s figures I still have from childhood are super tight in all the of the hinges.

Are forums still relevant when compared to comments?
koalayummies replied to astral brick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Agreed. Unfortunately all of those platforms lack the organization, archival and reference-abilities characteristic of forums and so useful to a hobby such as Lego. The attention span is mere minutes, its a continuous unending stream that is there for a brief moment and then gone and forgotten, lost to all but the most dedicated internet sleuths and strongest memories.- 75 replies

Wait what?! How did this go from "are forums still relevant?" [yes they are] to "Imma buy this place and show all of yous!"? I'm guessing this is only the beginning of global quarantine resultant 'cabin fever'.- 75 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion
koalayummies replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Agreed I'd put all blind bag merchandise on hold for a while. Same for the build a figure stands and in-store build and play features, move them to the back. -
Gorgeous work as always Jalemac! Earth Green is a fantastic choice and a rare color in modulars and these three buildings together are very complimentary. The whole scene with goods stands is excellent and lively throughout. Love it.
