  1. Just wish City would get consistent with vehicle window colors, some are transparent blue some are transparent brown and some sets have vehicles with both colors in one set. Need consistency. While trans clear is the best IMO leaving me with a pile of smoke/blue windows.
  2. That Lego Island game was amazing as a kid. Fond memories. I think that yeah it was essentially Lego City/Town but set on an island so as to restrict the size of the game world due to hardware limitations of the time. A lot of the stuff in the game was clearly inspired by the System Town sets of the same time, like the Pizza to Go set released a year prior to the game and recurring Town/City subject matter like coast guard, police, racing, hospital and Octan all present in the game.
  3. The street sweeper is fun. The brushes actually rotate when you push it. Though this street kind of clogs it up a bit.
  4. It does happen though. When 2423 Plant Leaves 4x3 was made available in Dark Brown for the first time (2019) they were in stock and available for purchase but I was still making a list and wasn't ready to order. Went back the next day to order and they were already out of stock. Had to wait a while for them to return. Then you look on Bricklink and see more than a dozen different sellers each with 200-400+ of these for sale (one seller has 1,903 for sale). This piece is in one set and there's 22 of them per set. I think its obvious whats going on there.
  5. Yeah if they don't do this they should. But I avoid release days because of things I've heard. A member in the general discussion shared a Lego Store visit story where some gross guy went in on a release day and bought all the remaining snow speeder sets they had and made some kid who's parents drove him there on his birthday cry because the guy was so greedy and to top it off the guy then offered to sell one he just purchased to the mother for double the retail price. Absolute garbage.
  6. Part 4070, ANGULAR BRICK 1X1, aka the "headlight" brick, introduced by Erling Dideriksen in 1979. The original SNOT brick and one of the most versatile Lego pieces. Page dedicated to the headlight brick
  7. Yes. When in doubt, throttle out. If you can't find 'em, grind 'em and always remember: keep it shiny side up.
  8. I also have an automotive background, as a mechanic who's done nearly everything from OEM and aftermarket electrical work, full engine long block assembly and transmission replacement, to windshields, wheel bearings, clutches, fuel systems and full suspension overhauls; and also as a driver with nearly ten years of High Performance Driver Education at racetracks across the United States from Virginia International Raceway to Buttonwillow Raceway Park, in my own personal non-trailered daily-driven vehicle. Personally don't think that being a part of the 'car community' is a valid excuse for nor affects one's behavior, behavior probably has more to do with the prefrontal cortex. But then again I am a mechanic and not a clinical psychologist.
  9. Yeah I mentioned this in another thread and was informed that one can use bricker for the same type of piece lookup. Also been using bricklink a lot more for the same thing ever since the forced login. Shame cause it was the best. Used to use it a whole lot and even accidentally clicked on ads hundreds of times cause they took up half the screen and popped up on every page.
  10. Yeah good point, they're normally restricted to kids. Plus I usually look at them and think "I have all those pieces", and then I weep for there are no more pieces to conquer.
  11. Those working at Lego really have their finger on the pulse. They're clearly familiar with the predictable discourse playbook, like a flow chart for criticism from the few but importunate. :Back in Denmark: A Lego designer glances at the sales figures for their colleague's latest set and jokingly asks: "remember those five adults on the internet who said you're ruining Lego?" "Nah, they got drowned out by the laughter of millions of happy playing children." "Hah, touche. So you're getting us coffee today?" "Already on it!" -Koala(Cult Member)Yummies
  12. Is this the type of thing you're talking about, changing the hands and heads to be yellow? I changed the hair too as I wanted to see what they'd look like as more generic City figures. These are all Harry Potter CMF. Edit: here's another example, member AmperZand changed some of the Disney 2 figures to yellow as well.
  13. As someone who thinks penguins are just great I think your build is fantastic. Excellent use of all building directions to create the perfect penguin shape. Wonderful work!
  14. Need pictures! Ok fine I'll do it: The Brick Show Jan 2020 Promos "To celebrate the release of next year’s LEGO Creator Expert Bookshop (10270), LEGO Stores are offering a free make and take build in the form of the LEGO Creator Newsstand. I like the more compact design on this particular newsstand, which somewhat shows a marked improvement on what LEGO offered with the LEGO City Bus Station (60154) back in 2017. Similar to other in-store promos, this freebie will be exclusively available to those who will visit a local LEGO store to participate in this building event. Bear in mind that there are limited spaces available so be sure to sign-up in-store starting January 6. This activity is also intended for LEGO fans and participants ages 15 and above." You have to go in store on the 6th to sign up and then go back on the 8th to build. Unfortunately every Lego store is in a shopping mall and every time I go to a mall my hands somehow wind up covered in pizza grease and cinnabon goo which makes building difficult. Its a catch 22.
  15. Hah these are most excellent! Very true to the quirky and eccentric Mixels look. I like the variety of expressions and Xmas subject matter. Great builds!
  16. Its frigid and unforgiving but its also... Baby penguin's first Xmas!
  17. Yeah it was pretty central to the entire thread's discussion.
  18. That is awesome. Great job recreating that at mini scale which can be even more challenging than larger scales. At minifigure scale it might require employment at Lego level of pieces. I really like the mixing of old and new greys as well for the rocks. Excellent build!
  19. https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/133742-mock-the-police/ Some of the pictures are down but instead of the incessant complaints about City Police this builder ran with it and had fun. Pretty good MOCing that was true to each respective theme. Some of the genres and themes: Shuttle Police, Cargo Police, Farm Police, Deep Sea Police, Paradisa Police (1992 theme), Arctic Police,
  20. Don't be hesitant to disassemble stuff, you can always rebuild it. The linked videos demonstrate that the movie illustrated that any way is fine, Emmet was completely happy following instructions even if the master builders gave him a hard time and ridiculed him as lacking creativity or personality, but the rest of the movie was very encouraging of building your own things. When Lucy tells everyone to revolt and build stuff, Emmet's construction mech, convincing his dad that the stuff Finn makes has just as much value as the way the dad thinks things should be. The sequel carried on this idea as well with Finn realizing the same with his sister's creations. Personally: Some sets get opened and immediately sorted for parts, never even built. Sets that I didn't really care for the build on the box but rather the pieces contained within. Some get built and and modified. Building from the instructions just to see any new or interesting techniques or alteration potential. In the end almost nothing stays assembled forever; even MOCs will get revisited, modified and eventually disassembled. Too many good parts to use for something else. 21. I have been watching your progress on this since I started following you, it's been incredible the whole way and the final build is absolutely astounding. This is one of the greatest Lego builds I've ever seen. This is one for the ages. This will be inspiration for thousands forever. You have done some of the most fascinating work, well done!
  22. Racing bus tuner mechanic 2006-2009 golden age station duel.
  23. Of all the possible news outlets to have your Lego forum username quoted in, The Guardian has to be pretty close to if not the top choice. That's awesome.
