Could New Chairman Signal New Direction?
koalayummies replied to leafan's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think your contributions over the years to the wide range of discussions here are appreciated a lot more than you realize. Easily one of the most respected voices here. Don't stay away from us too much if you can. -
Even if a couple minifigure obsessed AFOLs don't like it or increase their Lego purchases I'd wager a lot of people who don't regularly buy Lego will be all over these just because of the Nintendo/Super Mario love. Nintendo fans buy some really weird and oftentimes useless memorabilia but this is actually on the cooler side for Nintendo merchandise. Its like a lot of the Ideas sets; they don't always appeal to die hard Lego fans who are regularly purchasers anyway, but rather bring in a lot of those who aren't.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
koalayummies replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yes... thats what I said: ----- So about $0.20 USD each. The seller with 1388: $0.44 each. Seller with 887: $1.14 Seller with 747: $0.48 ----- Greed and gluttony and there are builders here who can't get just a few for their own use without paying twice the 'retail' price. This has been demonstrated on other pieces in this thread in the past as well. And I don't even want this piece I am just demonstrating what is likely going on with some B&P out-of-stock pieces and BL sellers. Except the entire point is that its not available on Bricks and Pieces right now because its sold out, because of these people buying up as much as they can triggering the low stock cutoff and then turning around and selling them for twice the price TLG sells it for. -
Mostly MOC, but still get a lot of sets for parts primarily looking at the price per piece point. $0.06 per piece or lower with pieces I like is usually enough to persuade. However judging by the number of threads and comments about official sets vs MOC threads and comments I'd say the overwhelming majority of AFOL are set builders and there's nothing wrong with that because they help keep Lego going all the same.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
koalayummies replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
My sentiment exactly! B&P should be for builders, those buying for personal use. There is already a quantity per piece limit in place per order, even though its a little hard to see one needing 200 pumpkin pieces, but if there are multiple orders for the maximum quantity of the same part going to the same buyer/address/Lego.com account then they could conceivably put a stop to that. And since TLG now owns Bricklink they could also possibly cross-reference the B&P purchases with Bricklink sellers and see who is buying from B&P just to resell on Bricklink. -
Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

Curious what the last price on that piece was from B&P if anyone knows? There's at least 25 different sellers on Bricklink right now with over 100 each, four sellers with over 300 and one with... 1,338. -
Really pleasing exterior facade and I really like the symmetry and balance of the whole build. Wonderfully detailed and your choice of colors is excellent. Fantastic work!

That is great! First dots MOC I've seen and it looks like a lot of fun.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 20. Rumors and discussion
koalayummies replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yeah but that made the hairpiece of limited use and odd looking if used without the goggle piece. Has that hairpiece been employed since? If its just going to be a one off part like that they could also make a dual-molded hair and goggle single piece, or just print the goggles on the head all of which would probably be objectionable to someone as it usually goes. -
The designer of the LEGO Minifigure has passed away.
koalayummies replied to Nabii's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Much of what we create with this construction toy is built around that little figure. The inspiration and legacy will live on for a very very long time. Thank you Jens! -
If that's cool yellow then that would be a very hefty amount of parts molded in a color for first time in one set, no? Cool Yellow: 206 parts Bright Yellow: 2359 parts Looks like all of the hinge and clip pieces, the fender arches, rear 1/4 window arch brick, all of the slope and inverted slope bricks. Quick scrolling through that parts list I count at least 11 parts that would need to be molded in Cool Yellow for the first time.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces

Sorting a just-received B&P order is the best part of all of this. Throw them all in one bag! I'm sure hand picking and individually counting the pieces in all of these orders is a tedious and mentally taxing job. We should all send them advil or pizza or pizza with advil on it or something. -
LEGO Ideas Discussion
koalayummies replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Showing it next to the actual Saturn V set wasn't a great idea . If I was interested in a rocket and stumbled across that I'd get the Saturn immediately as it's available now, on sale, more aesthetically pleasing, greater historic significance, better built, bigger, less phallic and like you said isn't tied to a toxic wannabe-1%er internet-meme-troll cult. However if TLG can somehow rationalize the... nuance, then they should happily take those fan's money for a pixelated MS Paint truck or a super exciting reusable shipping tube. Scuba diving child-rescuing cave heroes be darned. Has no one submitted a 1:1 scale version of his boring roofing torch? What about a tunnel to Mars? -
The more I see of this theme the more "yes!" it is. Price per piece is looking good as well for MOCers.

Really awesome Trekkie! That intricate snot work really paid off for those upper windows and the stepped-shaping of the front facade is an excellent detail at this small of scale. Love it, great work!

Incredibly impressive build there! Really glad you went back to complete it and I'm guessing you are too because its absolutely fantastic. Super realistic, hyper detailed and very Parisian. Gorgeous to look at inside and out. Amazing work.

Super awesome. I can't recall seeing this style of architecture in a modular; you nailed the French Colonial style of the iconic Bourbon Street. Most excellent work!

I really like his interviews, he's so cheery and excited about Lego with a somewhat goofy comportment. Always fun to watch.

Why do Lego catalogs have no dioramas anymore?
koalayummies replied to Medzomorak's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think it has to do with aesthetic, cleanliness and straightforward advertising. The new catalogs show exactly what product you're getting and whats inside. With the clearly defined borders around each set the kid and the parent both know exactly what is in each set. With those crazy dioramas, while cool and fun to look at, the kid might be mislead. They're also very cluttered and the actual product images are small because the diorama takes up so much space. Regarding the cost, a lot of the official set images are now are digital renders. Guessing they have their own software for that which probably wasn't cheap. There hasn't been much talk or even noticing of that.
