Effe's MOC Corner

With that amount of work to do I’m guessing the emphasis is on maybe. Whenever they’re ready I’ll be doing my best to get to the head of the queue -

Did somebody say instructions? I’d love to build this. Any idea when they’ll be available? -

As I’ve said, I’ve been finding it increasingly difficult to write descriptive text which is why having a break seamed a good idea but nothing really changed. Today I thought if I went going through messages and emails written during the builds I could cut & paste bits of text into some sort of order and add bits here and there to tie everything up I might have something to go with the builds. I’ll leave it to you to decide if it was a good idea or not. These were both really enjoyable builds. Those who contributed to the Pimped Chiron took it to a whole new level. All involved did a great job. If you’ve got the Chiron and haven’t built this Pimped version I thoroughly recommend you do. It’s so much better than the standard set. Also, the instructions were excellent. The build went really well with no real problems to speak of which might be why I finished it in around 40hrs. I found Racing Brick’s RC Extreme Adventure to be one of the best builds I’ve done. It’s a pretty big model but it’s beyond me how so much was fitted inside it. And it’s a strong build. I’ve turned this thing upside down more times than I can remember and not very gently, I might add, and nothing’s come adrift. I can’t say it was a problem free build but the problems I had were of my own making. Because of reasons I’ll not go into I decided not to fit the lights so I could get the build finished quicker. Thankfully the reason for the speedy build went away so I had time to fit the lights after all but by that time the axles were fitted making routing the cables through the chassis something of a problem. As you know they have a will of their own at the best of times which is why it took over two days to get them done. Then there was the connectors and how to hide them. Eventually I found what I think is a pretty reasonable solution but like my routing of the cables, it’s less than elegant but it does the job. After that it was time to turn it on and test. It soon became apparent that all was not as it should be. Turning on the lights raised the roof, operating the winch sent the rear right track into reverse, when trying the steering the servo came to life but the front tracks remained where they were and although the M motor that runs the ‘engine’ whirred away the pistons didn’t budge. A furkle about within the BuWizz app setup had the first two problems sorted but all was fine for the steering and 'engine'. All I could think of was when I was tugging the cables through the chassis I dislodged something. Sure enough once on it's roof I could see the problems. The axle from the 'engine's' M Motor had come out, not much but just enough for the gear the axle carried to disengage from it's counterpart. Once pushed back in place the gears then meshed and the 'engine' ran as it should. And the steering. The UV joint just behind the front axle, connected to the axles coming from the servo, was flailing about minus it's axle. Thankfully it was a quick fix. With 7 motors crammed inside this is a heavy beast but with 2 of the absolutely superb BuWizz units powering it it seems pretty quick. When I tried on Normal it fair scampered across my table like an excited puppy. I’m looking forward to getting it out in the garden to see what it can do. Keep safe everyone. Hello my Friends It's been a long time since my last post. In the time I’ve been away from these pages I’ve only really built two models worthy of posting, the community modded Pimped Chiron v1.5 and Racing Bricks RC 42069. Both are brilliant, brilliant models and were great building experiences. To be honest I wasn’t going to post them as I've really struggled to come up with something thing to write to accompany my previous few posts let alone these links. A sort of writers block. I was convinced to post the links anyway by Mrs Grum and good Friend and well respected member of EB who I think it best remains nameless. After all, who wants the burden of being known as the person who bought my ramblings back to these pages . Anyway, below are the links to the pictures. I'm very sorry the Chiron pictures start where they do. Initially I wasn’t going to take in build pics but was persuaded to do so by Mrs Grum. Pimped Chiron v1.5 RC Extreme Adventure -

Thank you. Just as we’ve finished the shed the weather turns furnace like making it far too hot to in go there. The thermometer hit 33.8° in there this afternoon and that’s with having had both doors open since around 8am. I’m not wishing time away, life’s far too precious for that, but roll on Winter. -

Thank you Igor You’re right, it really is nice job Gilly. I take no credit save sorting parts into boxes at a rate of around 1 to every 5 or 6 of Gilly’s. As for it being tidier last time you saw it, as I recall most of the mess was various parts of your Koenigsegg scattered across my table Thank you my Friend. I’m very lucky to have the collection I have the vast majority of which I’ve not paid anywhere near full price or value for. Unfortunately the days of cheap LEGO seems to have come to an end. It is a relaxing place to be. With the radio on and no distractions it’s a great place to build Thanks boss. The mobile/iPad stand’s great. I build using digital instructions so it’s ideal. I also use it to hold my phone/iPad when taking photos. Doesn’t improve the quality (you may have noticed) but at least it keeps my wayward fingers out of shot Thank you. It’s a great place to be. Unless it’s hot weather and then it’s a no go area. It was 24° here yesterday but in the shed it was 29.8° -

It’s been almost 4yrs since I got my shed. I didn’t post pictures at the time as there wasn’t very much to see. Over time the shed’s gotten quite cluttered. The Little Darlings moved in, each with their own building/play table, sets were crammed on the racking, under tables & pilled up on the floor. Then there was the numerous large boxes full of assorted parts and others with the Grandchildren’s broken models. It was in dire need of a really good sort out but we never seemed to get the time. Then came the virus and since 17 February when our Dr’s advised us lockdown and begin shielding we’ve had nothing but time. It’s taken over 8 weeks but it’s all pretty much done. All the sets I’m not likely to build for a while have been stored in the loft, the loose parts have been painstakingly sorted by type into tubs and all but one box of the broken models are now rebuilt then dismantled and packed away. I was given an old chest of drawers which is now holds boxes containing my sorted out Technic spares. To say I’m really pleased with how it’s turned out is something of a understatement. Of course there’s no way on earth I could have done this on my own. I have to say a HUGE thank you to my beloved Gilly who’s been out there every day moving stuff about, helping me sort out parts, boxing them up, rearranging stuff and putting up shelves. You name it she’s done it and always with a smile and never a word of complaint. I’d also like to thank Tom Alphin, the Brick Architect for his LEGO Brick Labels. They’re absolutely brilliant and invaluable to anyone organising their parts collection. They must have taken an age to produce. Thank you Tom for the hard work and long hours spent creating these labels and for making them freely available for the benefit of the LEGO community. If you’re not familiar with Toms labels go to Brick Architect and check them out. And now, better late than never, here’s my shed. Apologies for the quality of the pics. -
He’s Back! My weekend is now complete. Thank you Jim for taking the (considerable amount of) time to bring this excellent review to these pages.

I’ve been using BuWizz units since they first came out and in that time have had no problems at all. At the moment I’m using 6 v2 units (thank you Tihomir) for a project and there are days when the 6 are being used almost all day long. Some days the only time they stop is to have the external power banks I use to extend running time changed over. The units are being charged every night and to date I’ve had no problems at all.

WOW! That was quick. I’d got one end right but was having a problem with the studded end of the window frame. Thank you very much for taking the time to help me.

Good Evening My Friends This afternoon I spent a few hours with my Grandson Jake, building this. A good bit of the time has been spent trying to fathom out how the builder, Tiago Catarino, has fitted the 2493 window. I’ve tried every thing I can think of but as I have no real knowledge of SNOT building techniques nothing has worked. I’d be really grateful if someone can help me please. Thank you. Grum
