LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

I’m in the same boat, I was going to get the Trouble on Tatooine set as the cheapest way to get Mando and Grogu but if advent calendar is the same price that might be a better deal for me it feels like this is going to be the first year with enough Mando sets, compared to the amount of clone wars sets we got from 2008-2011 the Mando sets are still quite scarce -

Purely my own speculation but I think Mando will come with a Christmas jumper I know what you mean though, we could have gotten a new side character who doesn’t really fit into a set like the frog mum or the Tatooine last. The inclusion of blue leader a couple of years back was a great precedent that hasn’t really been followed up -

I thought cyborgs arm from dc would have fit echo because it ended with a stud, making it easy to fit a screwdriver or other attachment inside it Also 1414falconfan has relayed some rumours on his Mandalorian forge post on Instagram. The rumour is that the advent calendar is Mandalorian-based, featuring: *spoiler just because it’s the advent calendar and I know some people like it to be a surprise -

There's other heads with mustaches that could work for Mario - Plus there's the fake mustache piece from the Lego Movie / CMF sets -

The difference now is that now we have the build-a-mini figure option, which I find a lot easier to get animals than bricklink. When I went before the pandemic I was able to pick up the grey cat, two tan dogs and 3 penguins - I feel like the monkeys and sheep are the perfect size to be available there too at some point- 5,707 replies

Harry Potter 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
Darth Shadowthrone replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Ok so I actually had a very negative first reaction to the minifigure pack but after the reading some of the comments on here and coming back to the set picture it’s not so bad. My first thought was that it reminded me of BAM purist customs, which I myself had a go at last year for Diagon Alley - I recognised Scrimageour just for his hair but all I could see when I looked at Diggle was Ollivanders torso. That being said, the female witch has some very useful pieces and I’m really glad Rufus didn’t have Lex Luthor’s head I’ll probably pick this set up at some point, at least it comes with more new characters than last years -

I for one can’t wait to make an Aslan moc with that standard lion, as soon as I get that set I’m going to put together some custom Pevensies and maybe a Stone Table MOC! I’m awful with car types / brands- 5,707 replies

Latest news about Lego animal moulds

The white jeep with the lioness is a set I’ve had my eye on for a while, even before it was confirmed we were getting those other sets. I just thought if there is another safari set we probably won’t get any new animals and will just get copies / reprints from other sets. Also it’s strange but I think I prefer the 4+ lion set to the white jeep, the red and tan off-roader has a nice colour scheme imo and also uses no stickers. Hopefully the 4+ set is reduced by the end of this year so I can pick up that glorious lion 🦁- 5,707 replies

Oh that’s a shame. To be honest the Hogsmede set is one I’m not really in a hurry to get, I’ll probably get it on a discount eventually but I plan on getting the new Hogwarts bits first -

I actually find myself loving the 4+ lion set, those animals are amazing! I was already planning on getting the monkey set too because it is so small, but don’t have enough money/space for the elephant set. Is there going to be another safari set that’s an exclusive? Because if so I expect the lioness from last year will be reused.- 5,707 replies

LEGO Ninjago 2021
Darth Shadowthrone replied to Driver Brandon Grumman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Ok I love love LOVE Nya’s water dragon. It looks very elemental but is also much more naturalistic and flowing compared to the early Ninjago dragons: comparing it to the 2011/12 dragons is night and day for me, my personsal preference is for less-stylised dragons. I’m also really chuffed that Nya’s water form comes in this set, I think that’s my joint-favourite figure to come out of Ninjago (tying with the Overlord) -

I’ve just checked the printed windows from the Quality Quidditch supplies and they look the same from the inside because the printing is only on the outside and you can’t see the edge of the printing because of the edge of the piece. That said the 2x5 pieces in QQS are a bit thicker than the curved 4x5 which are used in Honeydukes ... I really hope they’re printed in the set, like how curved cockpits usually are in Star Wars. Also for anyone planning on expanding the rock foundation in the new Hogwarts sets: the new Lego City Lion set has SIX of the rock panels the Chamber of Secrets uses. It’s probably cheaper to order the piece on its own online but will be handy if you’re already interested in Lego lions like I am 😁 -
Jurassic World 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
Darth Shadowthrone replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Ah that’s fair enough. I’m personally not as interested in the Jurassic World franchise but I love dinosaurs and Lego molded animals so will probably just create a generic dinosaur / safari display. Also I watched the Camp Cretaceous trailers today, not just because of the potential sets this year but also because the Netflix series are very popular with kids - I definitely feel like there’ll be a lot of indirect dinosaur references like Bumpy from last year. -

Does anyone else think the wildlife city sets have some use for Jurassic World / dinosaur displays? There’s some really cool / useful pieces like the printed crocodile egg Also the red and tan colour scheme of the vehicles is like a direct update of the old Dino Attack sets -
Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

The Aquaman hair wouldn't be able to fit side-on onto a minifigure though which is why I think it's either a new piece which is much shorter at the back or a hair-beard combo -
Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
Darth Shadowthrone replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I feel like if Lego tried to approximate a hair/beardpiece for Thor that could be used for both his Lebowski and Nordic looks it won't have the braids in it and will look more like a generic beard. Also although the two strands of hair on either side of the beard look suspiciously symetrical like two sides of a hair piece I don't think they are as that would make the back of the hair piece really high up to fit on a minifigure sideways -

I actually had an idea that a pterodactyl could be thrown into the Baryonix boat set, the same as the Gallimimus last year. personally I think two Baryonix being included in one set is really unlikely because of how big they are - I think the only precedent for two big identical moulded creatures would be the 2x raptor sets from 2015. Also a pterodactyl feels like it would really fit into a river set and match how Lego included two dinos in each set last year, a precedent I hope we see repeated -

Maybe we're only getting protagonists in this series, not any of the villains. I hope that doesn't have an impact on our chances to get Infinity Stone Ultron or Thanos Gamora -

So no Agatha then. I wonder who the third Wandavision character could be - two Wandas would be kind of overkill since we're getting her from Endgame too and there's only 12 CMF slots overall -

I was actually really impressed by the new Chamber’s statue and slide, neither of which I was really expecting. There’s also the amazing snake door and the mouth-opening tunnel for the snake - apart from not being able to fit figures on top of Slytherin I don’t know how the chamber could be improved and think it’s much superior to the 2002 set. -

Am I the only one who’s really happy that we’re getting 4 Hogwarts sets this year? We haven’t had that many in a single year since 2004! Really hope that this sets a precedent for small Hogwarts sets if we get more green-roof bits next year. -

This is great! The Fluffy set works really well next to the Gryffindor Tower, I love how that big looks accurate to the films. I definitely think I’ll split the Chamber of Secrets tower in two like you’ve done it I display that set from the outside. -

Thanks for this edit! I really like how the Fluffy corridor bit could look like next to Lockhart's classroom. The Quidditch door also look quite good on the ground floor next to the rock too, that set is actually quite useful to make another tower. I think apart from nostalgia another obvious answer is that the green roofs are there to contrast with the dark grey rocky foundations. I feel like if there was dark grey on the bottom and top it would not look as good - this was a problem the D2C Hogwarts avoided too by having their rock features dark tan to keep the foundations a different colour to the roofs as well.
