  1. We'll just have to hope history repeats itself and a sticker sheet for the D2C leaks just like Diagon Alley's stickers did! That also helped prepare us for the possibility that the Leaky Cauldron, Borgin&Burkes and Gringotts were all not included, though there were a lot of people hoping that there were more shops than the stickers suggested (myself included)
  2. Chocolate frog cards are interesting but I'm a bit miffed the designers didn't think of these when either Harry Potter minifigure series was out as those cards would have been a great idea then. Also there's a robed Harry minifigure with short legs on Instagram I saw earlier today which makes a robed Hufflepuff Justin Finch-Fletchley minifigure even more likely! I also realised if there actually are matching printed robes from Gryffindor, Hufflepuff and Slytherin that would match the 2018 wave where we got the same uniforms but with only the jumpers
  3. In terms of the chess set I expect it will be quite a smooth board with a heroica style scale to fit the piece-count - even if there’s budget limitations I think there will still be 16 playable pieces, just a lot smaller Personally I’m expecting a mix of studs, cheese slopes and microfigures to represent the pieces - they definitely won’t be towering over minifigures like I thought I also think people shouldn’t get their hopes up for minifigure chess pieces - the pawns for example could just be a couple of studs stacked on top of each other at this scale
  4. Seconded, I really hope we get petrified faces on Justin, Colin Creevey and Nearly Headless Nick
  5. Ok so the minifigures are looking absolutely phenomenal to me, it's so exciting that we could be looking at THREE robed Slytherin torso's in the girl's bathroom set! If there's robed Gryffindor and Hufflepuff torsos in the Chamber of Secrets I'm going to be very happy Also it would be cool if the cat Hermione head fits over a normal minifigure head like the Chima pieces, I guess that makes the piece more versatile and means there should be a normal Hermione head under there (and maybe even a spare headpiece?) What figure are you guys most looking forward to leaking? For me it would probably be Dumbledore or Lockhart from the big Hogwarts set as I'm looking forward to seeing what colour robes they have this time
  6. Thanks for sharing that, it looks great! I feel like it definitely shows how much you could fit into a set like this. one thing I’ve noticed with a lot of Lego chess sets at this scale is how busy and crammed they look - I feel like 3 /4-stud squares just aren’t big enough. I also think the chess pieces will be even bigger than they are here and will be almost entirely brick-built: I do hope the giant statues look good next to minifigures though.
  7. Oh yeah one of the great things about the Tom Riddle figure is that it means there’s hopefully some new face prints for existing characters: - Hopefully Nearly Headless Nick gets a petrified expression along with Colin Creevey and Justin Finch-Fletchley - It’d be cool if first year Harry and Ron get a new expression instead of happy/scared - they should have new two-sided heads with Crabbe and Goyle after all. - Also Harry could have a new battle-damaged/determined face that could fit with both the chess set and the chamber of secrets
  8. I actually never liked the 2010 Snape because he seemed so expressionless, there wasn’t a visible emotion there compared to the raised eyebrow and angry face of the new variant. I also had the same problem with the cmf Luna with her glasses: she just didn’t seem to fit with the role of the character because of how passive the face was. An easy compromise is to have one norm face and one zany face, which Fred and George both had and I which thought fit well
  9. Hopefully now that the Lego Harry Potter theme has exploded Lego will be a bit more confident with Fantastic Beasts if there's actually a new film to tie a wave to! As you say they will run out of Harry Potter sets if they keep them in the same style so hopefully we get some kind of Fantastic Beast wave next year with sets from the first 2 films as well, like the POTC and Toy Story waves did. I just hope they don't take any fan/critic backlash to heart leading them to be conservative with Fantastic Beasts again - neither Jurassic World nor the latter POTC were incredibly well-recieved films but there were still great sets made about them...
  10. I feel like it could end up looking quite shallow, like the Whomping Willow sections of Hogwarts. But these new bits are meant to be interior-focused so I'll happily be proven wrong. Personally I can't wait to see all three anniversary Hogwarts sections stacked together or placed side-by-side, hopefully that will be included in promotional pictures when they're officially revealed.
  11. I definitely think the Wizard's Chess set is going to be heavily marketed as it's own thing, with probably at least 90% of the piece count dedicated to the chess rather than some sort of Hogwarts side-build. If it's going to have these big chess pieces taller than a minifigure it will probably need to be at least 32x32, or even bigger - if the chess board is built on a square the size of a base plate that would each square would only be 3 studs across, which just doesn't seem big enough when each square is meant to dwarf a minifigure. This set is probably intended to attract casual Harry Potter fans who don't usually collect Lego and chess fans who would like a Lego medieval-ish board game - I fully expect Harry Potter elements outside of the pieces to be quite scarce, maybe with a couple of statue-exploding functions and at most a small Hogwarts wall which can serve as a backdrop to the minifigure display. That being said, the white queen better have a fully posable sword arm for all the destruction she causes
  12. You make some good points! Apart from cat hermione I’m most looking forward to seeing the Slytherin sink in the Girl’s Bathroom, I hope there’s at least a trapdoor feature if the Bathroom can fit directly above the chamber also your point about the pixies reminds me that the only set they can plausibly come in is the Chamber of Secrets, it’s good to know they won’t come elsewhere in a classroom or something
  13. Ok so out of all the sets we know about so far what are your guys’ top 3 sets you’re most looking forward to? Mine would be: 1: The Chamber of Secrets 2: Wizard’s Chess 3: The Forbidden Corridor I’m a big fan of minifigures so sets not being minifigure-compatible kills my interest from the get-go. I’m also very much looking forward to seeing how the moulded elements look on Fluffy and the Basilisk
  14. Pretty sure there won’t be any more classroom-book sets until next January at the earliest Edit: ninja’d by Guyon himself! You’re the best double agent since Severus Snape at this point (in that Voldemort aka the Lego team hasn’t been able to stop you guys)!
  15. That was me, I’m sure we’ll get at least one surprise set in August or something! Also I love your news videos, I watch them even if I’ve seen all the information already on here
  16. Ok so that means the £30 and £40 probably won’t be much to write home about. Considering you didn’t like the builds of the June @Guyon2002 maybe we’ve got more of that to look forward to? Or a set with characters which have already been included elsewhere since 2018? Honestly with how this information has been drip-fed to us today I’m half-convinced you and @Falconfan1414 are working together to tag-team us with surprises one after another as this forum falls apart and loses all sanity
  17. The Fawkes set will probably be 10+ like Hedwig last year so only the chess set and buildable figures will be 18+. that should leave 2-4 playsets left in the summer for kids and the rest of us to enjoy, including the Hooch flying lesson scene .
  18. do you mean 2 sets whose contents aren’t confirmed or 2 sets which don’t have a price point yet? In 2019 the Graveyard Duel and Beauxbatons were complete surprises and I think the Burrow was only confirmed with some leaked figures last year. I’m pretty sure there’ll be at least one exclusive set that even the leaker’s sources won’t know about (it seems like magazine and promotional images are often our main source of information. I might be wrong but apart from a description of the girls’ bathroom exterior there hasn’t been any news about the June sets interiors, just speculation!)
  19. Honestly I’m kind of glad to get some breathing room to slow down on my Lego buying, I’ve gone from barely buying the 2018 stuff (even now my 2010 Hogwarts is still one of my favourite sets) to spending hundreds of pounds on Harry Potter over the course of a year-long lockdown. I’ll pick up the Hogwarts sets for this year, probably Hogsmede and catch up up on Privet Drive once it dips below £50 on sale and thank the Lego gods for not assaulting my wallet with a Gringotts set right on the heels of the Diagon Alley Also @Roonil Wazlib I get how you feel about Star Wars, spaceships just don’t cut it for me anymore. I’ve been quite enjoying the Ninjago dragons with moulded heads and if I get enough vip points I’ll probably be getting the medieval forge too
  20. I actually think the Chamber of Secrets set could contain Dumbledore's Office, with a Defence against the Dark Arts classroom in the floor underneath. Dumbledore, the sword of Gryffindor and possibly Fawkes and the Sorting Hat will all be included in this set so it makes sense to have a room to display them, as well as a place for Harry to take Tom Riddle's diary after fighting the Basilisk - this set would make much sense as a location for the Headmaster's Office than the Clocktower did with its pathetic attempt at a pensieve!
  21. I agree, looking at the pictures of the chess scene only the pawns are actually life-sized, all the pieces are much larger. Personally I think it could be really cool if you have these massive buildable medieval statues that can tower over the minifigures. I also think the chess board won't have any sort of Hogwarts built onto it or as a backdrop as Lego probably want to attract casual chess fans as well as the Harry Potter fandom. Like it will probably be a big black box with just the chess pieces advertised on the front and then the Harry Potter action features on the back, with maybe a tiny Hogwarts facade which serves as a minifigure stand for the trio plus golden Dumbledore - I think there is going to be a smaller set with Quirrell and Lego won't shoehorn the flying keys, devil's snare or Mirror of Erised into this set.
  22. Thanks for clarifying, it’s going to be very interesting to see what it turns out to be! To be honest I’m quite happy the D2C sets could both be non-standard pieces this year. In the last 12 months I’ve bought the Hogwarts Clocktower and Astronomy Tower, all of the CMF and Diagon Alley (tho I split the price of that one with my brother!) As I’m definitely getting at least the Chamber of Secrets, the most expensive Hogwarts system set so far, I could really do with a cheaper year of Harry Potter (for me at least!) Were microscale sets ever debunked this year?
  23. I think the £120 set will be a brick built Fawkes the Phoenix. It could be a bit bigger than Hedwig from last year and also come with the Sorting Hat and even the Sword of Gryffondor. Fawkes is very colourful and unique- looking so I reckon the designers could have some really interesting building techniques when designing him. It’s also recognisable outside the theme and even other fantasy fans of birds of paradise admirers might want him. I also think a lot of the other ideas on here would be kinda monochrome and Fawkes could even have a flying play feature
  24. Cornish pixies! Yes! really hope they come in a couple of sets: the chamber of secrets set and then maybe in one of the smaller sets with just one pixie in a corner of something! Or maybe one in the advent calendar? that would be cool
  25. I completely agree that Gabrielle’s unique face print definitely sticks out, maybe there was a second task set planned but it got pushed back? They can always revive the concept and honestly goblet of fire Lego sets are just as nostalgic for me as the first two films - if they can include Hogsmede in an Anniversary Wave then surely they could sneak in a Durmstrang or Triwizard set in August! Also I really hope they use Gabrielle’s head for Ginny in the Chamber of Secrets for when Harry finds her, it almost certainly wasn’t planned for her but would fit really well!
