LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
BrickBob Studpants replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
*glares angrily* Meh. The prelim looked decent, but I‘m not expecting much in the minifig department. It‘s either the same Rebel posse as in the 2015 version or the same Imperial posse as in the 2005 version OT sets left and right, but my man Nien still gets no love. Sad times They‘re probably saving him up since he‘s now risen to the top of the impressively short list of missing OT figures, thanks to Zuckuss and the cantina patrons who‘ve hold on to the top spots for ages -

I‘m warming up to this wave a bit. Still disappointed, but the sets themselves don‘t really deserve my ire, they‘re quite nice for what they are HOWEVER, I still hope the summer wave is a lot less OT-centric. Just do what you did this year, can‘t be that hard -

You might be onto something here. The minions part has a pin hole while the piece on the X-Wing has an axle hole So this is where the entire budget went for this wave -

Thanks, that would explain it Though couldn‘t they swap the colours between LBG and DBG then? Or does it only work in the particular combination we have right now (i.e. ball in DBG and receiver in LBG)? Or maybe they‘re afraid some sneaky AFOLs might try to swap the parts if they were available in two colours, causing them to break Anyway, it‘s a bit annoying but it doesn‘t look all that bad on the TIE. Could be worse, e.g. if the ball part was black or white instead of DBG. Or blue, would fit right in with the dreaded pins -

Good point. It couldn't have been that hard to recolour this part, especially in a useful colour like LBG I wonder why they still don't do it. Maybe it has something to do with color-coding (like pins) -

They're part of the goggles I know, but this doesn't lessen the blow for me. Just take any January wave of the last 6-7 years, remove the BPs, all non-OT stuff, and all the new moulds and minifigs introduced and you get basically this wave This could have been a good wave if they did the same thing as usual, i.e. adding BPs + 3-4 sets based on new material. Don't tell me Mando S1 or TROS didn't have enough material -

They were introduced in the Minions theme I'm glad you guys enjoy these sets, but to me it's easily the worst wave since the inception of the theme. That may sound hyperbolic, but I can't think of any other wave that had this little to offer in terms of anything NEW. Not a single new mould, one recolored piece, only one new character, and a handful of prints. Great. Affordable X-Wings and TIE Fighters are nice, sure, but they're just so mindnumbingly BORING to people who've been there from the start. I know I'm not the target audience, but this is still a sad sight. I've mentioned this before, but can't wait for the affordable-sized Snowspeeder, Y-Wing, A-Wing, and ISD next summer Oh, and a Landspeeder too, for good measure. Don't have any of those yet Yeah, I may be exaggerating a bit, but this is so utterly disappointing to me after the recent waves, which were very diverse in what they had to offer, instead of being this inexplicably laser-focused on the OT. I really thought they would continue like that rather than going 20 steps back. -

It‘s the Doc Brown hairpiece, even in the same colour And what‘s up with the stud shooters in the Taun-taun & AT-AT microfighter? Is that supposed to make up for the lack of battle packs? Needless to say, it doesn’t -

...what happened to this theme‘s budget? I knew we wouldn‘t get any new moulds or recoloured pieces in terms of minifigs, but I can‘t spot anything in the builds either I was hoping for a new canopy or something, but nada Well, they have to compensate for the increased Ideas budget somehow -

Let the chicken jokes commence I was always a bit sceptical how feathered dinos would look in the JW context, the same goes for their LEGO counterparts. But I‘m sure they can pull it off without looking too goofy -

Since our primary news sources for the last waves have always been the toy fairs, there‘s a decent chance we don‘t get any info before the factory leaks drop. And I agree, this could be a ton of fun We‘ve had similar factory-leak-based guessing games before where we didn‘t know which sets the minifigs belonged to, but this would elevate it to a whole new level because in those cases, we at least knew what the sets were Now, we‘re going in completely blind. Honestly, I‘m looking forward to it! This could be the only time something like this happens, like ever Edit: Why does pasting text increase the font size in mobile? -

I just want a decent amount of DH sets, after that they can do as many sets based on FB and the other 6 films as their hearts desire Especially DH part 1, which is the only film thus far that hasn't been represented by a single set -

There‘s not much left that hasn‘t been revealed yet besides the majority of the SW wave (mainly half of the Ninjago sets, Minecraft, and CMF S21), so I‘d say the chances are pretty good Fingers crossed Dodonna won‘t be the only new character, against all odds -

While I‘d prefer a specific mastiff mould, the new labrador mould might work too I just love how many dog moulds we have now (wiener, labrador, terrier, French bulldog, English bulldog, shepherd, chihuahua), but there‘s always room for more of course Mastiff and shiba are definitely on the top of my wishlist. ...help me, I‘m turning into @Roebuck -

LEGO Art - Rumours and Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Vilhelm22's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The Mickey set is notable in that it‘s the first one with two motives only (unless there‘s a combined third one of course) The rumours never specified the number of motives per set, did they? With the exception of the HP one of course -

Put your text in-between !spoiler! and !/spoiler!, just use square brackets instead of exclamation marks This episode provided plenty of set opportunities, let‘s hope they take advantage of that next summer -

I’m very interested to see the Hogwarts Crest, but the combined motives aren’t advertised too much so we probably won’t see it before the set hits s@h It’s pretty weird they don’t focus on them more; they’re not mentioned anywhere on the box for instance and their instructions have to be downloaded... I mean the combined Iron Man and Vader motives were undoubtedly the best ones in the first wave after all -

You can only build one motive with one set So you need 8 copies in total since the large (unpictured) Hogwarts crest takes 4 combined copies -

Didn’t even notice that at first I hope the Child finally gets a proper name this season, a hope which is probably shared by marketing departments around the world... “The Child” is just awkward to market Speaking of funny: It’s pretty ironic that the set we all expected to get revealed last now got unveiled first. They definitely didn’t save the best for last -

If they continue with the licensed (non-minidoll) themes before starting to reveal the in-house ones, the only ones left are DC, SW, and Minecraft. The DC sets are scheduled for May, so we won’t see them for a while, leaving SW and Minecraft. I think SW has a decent chance to be next, but I’m honestly more excited about the latter -

Honestly, I prefer Thanos’ turret thingie to whatever that prelim monstrosity was Those ‘splat’ stand pieces seem to be new, wonder what they could be used for elsewhere... Speaking of new pieces: Venom’s tendril thingies are new moulds as well, aren’t they?
