BW would easily have taken in at least 700-800 million $ worldwide if it was released theatrically, so how do you expect them to earn that by basically giving the movie away for free? They‘d need to have a MASSIVE spike in subscribers to make up for that. And streaming services are a gold mine for torrent websites, they offer the newest movies in HD on a silver platter, on day one. Why pay for a subscription if you can watch the thing with the same quality for free? People, especially CBM fans, don‘t seem to realise that big budget films won‘t be viable any more if they cannot continue to gross as much as they did before. You‘d better hope BW performs well if you want „bigger, better stuff“. If this is the future, Endgame-scale movies are done for. -

Nah, he‘s right Social media posts, activity books and the like generally do not provide hints about upcoming sets Even if the social media team was informed about future releases this far in advance (which isn‘t necessarily the case), they‘re not supposed to share that kind of information. Feel free to speculate, but those are definitely not hints -

@Guyon2002: Sure, the Naboo Starfighter is pretty much due for a remake (the cycle being 3 years usually), but I mentioned that one specifically because it‘s AGAIN a remake without minifig potential. What can they include besides the usual TPM candidates? As I‘ve said, I don‘t mind remakes as long as A) the wave is balanced out with new stuff too and B) there is at least one new or majorly updated minifig included. Just look at the 2014 ROTS remakes where they went out of their way to include new minifigs, regardless of much sense they made (Palpy in the vulture droid set and a Neimoidian soldier in the Tri-Fighter?! ). TPM has been covered extensively, how about giving AOTC some love It‘s unfathomable to me that the bounty hunter chase still hasn‘t been remade. Zam Wesell is one of the very few early minifigs that has never been redesigned or rereleased for whatever reason -

I dread to imagine what these plans are... Not to be overly dramatic, but for the first time EVER I'm not really looking forward to hear about a new wave. If I had to guess: 80% OT remakes (including another fiendish Snowspeeder ) with one new minifig overall, probably a background pilot or something, still no Nien Nunb one or two PT sets, but of course overdone ones (Naboo Starfighter and Sith Infiltrator anyone?) with a new Maul minifig sporting an even dumber facial expression than the last one one tiny Mando set without any S2 spoiler characters or any other important / new character for that matter still no BPs no Duel on Exegol set I'm ready to be pleasantly surprised though If not, I'll have to shift my attention to other themes I'm collecting that are actually still trying HP is essentially just wiping the floor with this theme -

Everyone keeps referring to the X-Wing and TIE as a „new style“, but isn‘t that a bit premature? It‘s just a smaller scale, and not by a whole lot actually. The price is what makes the big difference. And as@Mandalorianknight has said, the Shuttle doesn‘t seem to be that much more compact either, compared to its precursors I‘m not saying that every 2HY set will revert back to the previous „style“, it‘s just that the SW theme is not very consistent. Remember the Action Battle sets or the short-lived minifig-less midi sets back in the day? Nice thought, but I‘m afraid the message this is going to send is „more OT remakes please and nothing else“ -

Sets usually have a lifespan of 1.5 to 2 years, so there's no real need for these minifigs to be available in a single wave They could spread them across three waves even and they'd still have a decent time on shelves right next to one another. Lack of variety is exactly the issue here. If the wave was precisely as it is now, just with 2-3 Mando sets added as well as the usual 2 BPs, plus a better minifig selection for the Shuttle, (almost) nobody would complain. Just take every January wave in the last 5 years, remove the ST / RO sets, the BPs, and most of the PT sets, and you basically end up with this mutilated wave Death Star Escape? That was recent and even cheaper than the X-Wing, plus it introduced the new Stormie helmet -

Yes, obviously They have no work ethics at all and let their hatred of the MCU and all its fans, especially here on EB, lead every single design choice. This is A-ok with Marvel, because they have equal disdain for the MCU. When they found out how you guys feel about the Square Enix game, they kicked set production into high gear in order to feast on your delicious tears. Your misery is their greatest joy -

Being in the top 6 is not really the best indicator though Most of the themes in there are in-house ones that have a higher budget and way more sets (just look the amount of City and Friends sets each year). Not even Ninjago can always crack the top 6! And as @Guyon2002 said, Marvel did manage to do so last year. And do we know how well other Marvel merch sells? Do Endgame toys for instance really outsell Star Wars merch? I‘m not sure how much box office and toy sales really correlate -

That‘s exactly the problem Only targeting AFOLs makes little sense from a business POV. Kids and casual customers outweigh us hardcore fans by a large margin. We AFOLs buy the „childish“ sets anyway, so there‘s little point in catering to us specifically without also targeting either of the other groups. Let‘s take an example: more detailed minifigs. AFOLs would be happy, the kids who get them might be too, and the other potential adults that previously didn‘t care about LEGO... still don‘t care. Nobody who ignored the brand before will start buying sets just because of some additional printing or a Daredevil minifig A helmet or a bonsai is different, it‘s something new that may catch people‘s attention. TLDR: Catering to AFOLs only is not that good of a business idea More like the only way to make sure their budget gets reduced You may not like how the theme is handled, but the sets seem to sell You mean in this thread Us AFOLs will always remain a minority compared to kids, never forget that. Same with any fandom actually, casual fans are always more common than hardcore ones -

Isn‘t that just a reflection in the image? And even if it‘s the version with the tunic undone, it‘s only a minor variation that is neither unique nor particularly rare -

TLG never said the 18+ line is designed for AFOLs specifically, it’s targeted towards adults who aren’t necessarily fans already. They’re supposed to draw in people that otherwise wouldn’t buy sets (hence the distinct boxart style), which is why they’re experimenting with large-scale models, mosaics, decorative sets and the helmets What would you suggest they should do instead? Just wondering -

Good point, the Final Duel version doesn’t have two embarassing errors You can say about this wave whatever you want, but the minifig selection in the Shuttle simply cannot be defended. When even the 2001 one (!) had a superior selection in comparison, you know you’ve screwed up -

I‘m not sure where the whole R-rating discussion is coming from. It mostly made sense for Joker, but I don‘t think it would benefit The Batman in any way, neither the film itself nor its merchandise A non-horror film doesn‘t get better just because it‘s rated R instead of PG-13. Some films tried to advertise themselves by highlighting the higher rating, only to fall flat on their faces anyway (looking at you, Dark Fate). -

90% repeats doesn‘t exactly scream „fresh“ to me Instead of Stacy with a new hat, it‘s just a smaller Stacy, no hat The problem is that almost all of the minifig repeats are currently available in other sets too, so this selection doesn‘t even have that going for it. It‘s not like these characters have been absent in years, they‘re already sickeningly abundant And Vader being in the set isn‘t a flaw by itself, it‘s just that him and Endor Luke are already available in the Death Star Duel set, which isn‘t that much more expensive. And the main issue with the set is the amount of minifigs. People wouldn‘t be as harsh about it if it included at least two Stormies or Scout Troopers or something -

Couldn‘t agree more The model itself is decent, but minifig-wise it is easily among the worst ones yet. If the lightsaber colour and arm swap issues are both real and not just errors in the instruction booklet, this takes the number 1 spot for me Only 3 figs, one of them a downgrade, all of them easily available in dozens of sets, AND two major errors on top of that? What were they thinking?! -

„No sets“ is a bit exaggerated, there‘s at least two. And the summer set list is currently unknown, so way too soon to write it off already They don‘t reveal sales data. Ever. Which means everything we have are theories and guesswork, but there has to be a reason Batman is omni-present We did get three full JL waves (2 based on the comics and one as a tie-in with the film), some individual sets with JL figures sprinkled in and one set featuring the TT, Dimensions excluded. Not too shabby I think, but I have no idea how well they did -

Huh, didn‘t know that, I pay little attention to toys that aren‘t from Denmark Hm, interesting point. My initial thought was that they‘re buildable and thus not in violation of the rules, but so are minifigs Maybe it‘s the amount of parts that makes the difference? And yeah, sour grapes to the max -

But that‘s an issue with Mattel, not Hasbro, right? I would love to see them lose their exclusivity rights, but it‘s not like TLG would suddenly pump out minifig-only sets either, just because they‘re allowed to do so. A CMF series for instance is way too much to ask for, but I‘d like to see non-glued magnets make a return at least -

You can thank Hasbro for that Speaking of which: has it been confirmed yet if the contracts have been renegotiated? I remember people discussing that, but I can’t recall the results (if there are any to begin with). Is TLG now allowed to release products that previously would have violated the “action figure” clause? Not that I think they’d actually produce something like that, just wondering
