  1. That changes everything The other pilots can melt too for all I care, unless they have unique helmets That one will hit shelves January 2022 of course Luke always being available on shelves is reasonable, him being in multiple sets almost every wave less so This isn’t Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, DC, or Pirates of the Caribbean; I think the kids can manage a wave or two without one of the main characters
  2. Objection! To play some other type of advocate, “ANH” is the main issue here Why did this have to be an OT wave? If only there was a hugely popular series out now that also features X-Wings and TIE Fighters... And don’t tell me kids would rather have their 10th dumb boring pilot Luke fig rather than something from Mando I can’t stand that stupid minifig any more, it’s worse than angry clone! They rival my brick separator collection! I could build an ugly table out of them! Seriously, please stop. Pilot Luke has to be the most common SW minifig that isn’t an army builder. The only one I kind of liked was the 2018 one, the rest can melt. ...can’t wait for the next one in the 2021 summer wave snowspeeder
  3. In this case, they couldn’t even do that and reverted back to an ancient mould instead of using the (IMO vastly superior) dual-moulded counterpart I’m baffled they retired a perfectly good helmet piece to go back to the cheap, old one. That’s not even excusable for last year’s 4+ X-Wing since Poe’s helmet in the upcoming 4+ Resistance X-Wing is the usual dual-moulded piece. I know people love to complain about that piece, but that can’t be the reason they retired it, especially in less than a year. If our complaints were to be blamed, the new Stormie would have disappeared in a split-second I wonder if we ever find out why it’s only appeared in a single set
  4. I don’t think COVID has anything to do with how this wave was designed. If that was a factor, other themes would be affected as well, which they aren’t. They probably just decided to do a cost-efficient wave and that’s it Maybe they went consistently over-budget in the last 6 years (which I would believe) and were ordered to go easy on the budget now that no new films are on the horizon for the time being
  5. We don’t really know how that works for all-purpose moulds though A good example is the 1x1 round tile, introduced in 2012. That one appeared in so many sets across themes even from the very beginning, it wouldn’t have made much sense to allocate it to any particular theme’s budget. There might a separate pool for things like that
  6. They don’t count, the issue is the lack of new minifig moulds The 1x1 brick with axle hole will likely be ubiquitous within a year and is surely included in other 1HY sets as well. The engine part is a bit more specialised, but I also expect it to pop up in other places soon Besides, semi-generic parts like these are hard to assign to a specific theme. Remember, the 2019 Slave One was supposed to introduce a new wedge piece which the designer of the Overwatch Gibraltar set caught wind of and implemented into his model first. So was it part of the SW budget or not? Hard to tell. Might be a similar situation with these new parts, for all we know
  7. Couldn't agree more Of course you could argue that the amount of new moulds had to decrease in 2021 due to the lack of new content, but that argument doesn't hold much water upon closer inspection. While a large part of the budget for moulds, recolours, and prints was undeniably spent on the ST and spin-off sets, there were plenty of new OT-specific moulds introduced too over the last couple of year: Vader, the Stormies, Scout Troopers, and Rebel pilots all got brand-new helmet moulds (the latter three even being dual-moulded), plus Han's updated hairpiece, the Leia hologram, and plenty of new prints. And there's the Cantina set, which alone featured 3 new moulds. Considering this, the lack of new films alone cannot explain what looks like a heavily reduced budget (especially when you consider the popularity of Mando, which still doesn't get quite the treatment it deserves). I really hope it's partially due to a larger budget for the 2HY sets and not due to lower sales. I mean SW is still in the top 6 best-selling themes after all, even if it dropped two or places in that ranking this apparent budget cut is way to drastic. To me, I feels like it was reduced to 20-30% of what it once was
  8. Ok, those aren’t new moulds, but we’re also getting a ladybug as a printed 1x1 circular tile and bees printed on a 2x2 tile
  9. CMF S21 introduces an adorable hermit crab
  10. I don’t have any problems with Ryan (MandR) himself, but I do dislike him sending his minions to do his bidding. Imagine the 150th Brickheadz ending up being Jar Jar, just so he can have a good laugh I wish they’d stop with these polls, they mostly end up getting hijacked anyway, especially when SW is involved
  11. Agreed. This wave cuts more corners than an army of snowflake cut-outs This doesn’t bode well for the summer sets, unless they spent practically all their budget there (not very likely though). SW gets nerfed hard next year, so I have to wonder which theme gets buffed in its place. As mentioned before, my guess would be Ideas. Winnie the Pooh doesn’t take prisoners
  12. I'm hard-pressed to think of a set with a worse minifig selection than this and so far I haven't come up with anything, this just takes the cake The only set that comes close is this year's Grievous' Starfighter
  13. The droid is the one I counted for the "slightly updated print" category I thought the Tusken was the same as before? If you need a magnifying glass to spot the differences, they shouldn't even count
  14. Yeah, the shuttle is pretty nice, but the minifig selection is just so unbelievably poor. And it's not even the newest version of Vader?! Come on! So we have: new characters: 1 new versions: 1 slightly updated prints: 1 repeats: 15
  15. This isn't the first 80$ SW set to only include 3 minifigs, but probably the only one with nothing but repeats, not even slight variations. Even the minifigs in Grievous' starfighter had SOME variations compared to previous versions... This just pales in comparison with the 2015 version The summer wave better make up for this big time, but I probably shouldn't hold my breath. At this point I'm not even expecting any additional Mando sets any more
  16. And the 4+ X-Wing only has Poe and BB8 I was starting to like this wave, and now this. I wasn't expecting much for these two remaining sets, but this is really pathetic, especially the Shuttle's minifigs selection. Just 3, and every single one of them as common as it gets. What's going on with this theme? Where has the budget gone? I'm not even kidding, there has to be a huge budget cut at work here. At this point, it's probably better not to expect anything from this theme anymore. If the summer wave is as bad as this, they can keep it
  17. Agreed. This sort of poll should represent potential customers, not the following of some anti-social media overlord who just vote to please their sinister master, rather than having genuine interest in the thing they’re voting on In my opinion, all four of the choices should have been new IPs. Personally, I want Jaws to win since we haven’t seen anything Jaws-related so far (apart from the parody poster in the Stranger Things set and Bruce’s cameo in The LEGO Batman Movie)
  18. This show just keeps getting better I can see them release a set or two based on this episode, and I hope they do And looks like I got a wish of mine:
  19. I might be wrong about this, but didn’t the MCU films retcon / nullify stuff from tie-in material before? Movies will always outweigh tie-in comics, novels, and sometimes shows, so even if the MCU hasn’t done this before, I doubt the Shang-Chi writers sat together and said “we want to include Ultimo here, but too bad we can’t because he appeared in an obscure tie-in comic 53 people have read”
  20. Falconfan thinks they’re Marvel sets though, so we probably shouldn’t get our hopes up I foresee a big, gaping, ‘The Batman’-shaped hole in next year’s DC slate
  21. Pictures of the Coral Reef and Pig House sets have finally been revealed! The Coral Reef looks appropriately colourful. I appreciate the inclusion of the two puffer fish and the Drowned looks great! Too bad his signature weapon is missing The best thing about the pig house is the play feature to blow it up
