  1. Every set released since August has the “play it in [the game]” blurb on the back of the box and the 2020 summer wave sets even included codes to unlock characters. Doesn’t that count as a tie-in already?
  2. One of the reasons this thread blew up so much were discussions about fake clues courtesy of that royal Gollum-wannabe, but I think we can reach a similar count depending on the nature of the leaks. If we don‘t get a set list and just minifig leaks instead, this could very well get to that level
  3. I certainly hope not. If it‘s a mistake, this is in no way bad enough to get someone fired and as @Guyon2002 points out, this had to pass multiple instances first, so it‘s either intentional or many people are to be blamed for it. It‘s just mindblowing to me that these sets may hit shelves before the first teaser drops
  4. I‘ve only seen one picture of the box that all the other would-be leakers are copying, so it‘s no wonder nobody can provide more details Unless you find the original source that is...
  5. Celestials have already appeared in the MCU: there was Eson the Searcher, who briefly showed up in the first GotG (wielding the power stone to demonstrate its destructive power), an unknown dead Celestial whose head was turned into Knowhere, and in GotG Vol 2 there was Ego (who originally wasn't a Celestial in the comics I think). From what I can gather, the Celestials created both the Eternals and the Deviants, and the latter are a sort of evil counterpart to the former.
  6. I‘m also glad about that. The minifig selection is still weak, but at least there aren‘t any embarassing mistakes in the set itself
  7. I fail to see the problem. Disney S1 introduced at least 19 new parts (thus more than one per fig in average) and other series also featured more than 10 new parts Or how about the two Simpsons series where a majority of head moulds were exclusive to the respective minifig?
  8. These look impressive! I wonder how those pictures got out though, shouldn‘t the sets have been postponed to next October a couple of months ago? These catalogues don‘t get printed that early, or do they? And looks like the mystery of the new Venom „tentacle“ mould has been solved, I knew they were designed for something else!
  9. It‘s not the designing phase itself that takes that long, 1-1.5 years is the whole process between the inception of a set and the time it hits shelves This includes designing, testing, quality control, and production. Of course, the 1-year estimate is just a rule of thumb and the process varies between sets. A set like the Spider-jet obviously required less development time than a D2C set The Spider-jet at least survived the testing phase unscathed, so the target audience must’ve liked it well enough
  10. Agreed. He needs a new mould, which is why I put him on the top of my list. None of the other characters need one as much as he does
  11. I think the leaked mermaid piece is from the upcoming Vidiyo (sp?) theme since one of the codenames was ‚Mermaid‘ after all That would kill the chances of minifigs of famous singers, but oh well... Unless it‘s someone stuck in a mermaid costume for a music video or something If that happens, the speculation will be even more insane than this year Bring it on! I thinks it‘s a pretty likely scenario. The only chance I see for set names to pop up earlier than the minifig leaks would be the 2HY retail catalogue. As jdubbs has said a while ago in the SW thread, the lack of toy fairs might force TLG to rely on the catalogues again to present their new line-up to retailers. Depends on whether they‘re willing to take the risk, given that the 1HY catalogue leaked in a spectacular fashion, burning the source forever
  12. It‘s not a bad replacement, far from it actually, but I still prefer a specifically designed face print over a repurposed one I wouldn‘t mind that, but please only after they‘ve already released everything else we‘re clamouring for right now. A Creator Expert- style Knight Bus or Hogwarts Express set would be pretty silly when we‘re still missing Gringotts and Hogsmeade
  13. The Wonder Woman and Cheetah minifigs from the DC CMF series were reused in the SDCC set and the WW84 version also featured her CMF face print. Moreover, the Flash face print from that series was repurposed in a Jurassic World set. I wish they could‘ve done that earlier, would have improved Krum & Cedric significantly
  14. @m0repotter: Nice list Though as much as I would like an all-DH wave, that’s probably not going to happen In my estimation, at least two of these sets will be based on the other movies. And there‘s no way Gringotts isn‘t part of the line-up, making us wait two years or even longer to „complete“ DA would just be cruel
  15. Brickset published their review of 80107: https://brickset.com/article/54963/review-80107-spring-lantern-festival Justin Ramsden strikes again! Can’t wait for the interview with him.
  16. Didn’t expect a new face print (let alone two), but I’ll take it Luckily, flesh printing on white parts works a lot better than on black ones, otherwise we’d have another Mercy situation on our hands
  17. As for the year 3-6 version, it’s a reused face print, simple as that (originally created for Carina from PotC to be precise) It was probably the one the designers thought suited teenage Hermione best among the options they had, so they went with that. As for the CMF S2 version, they probably kept the freckles for the sake of consistency. Speaking of which: Since they’re now free to reuse CMF prints, I fully expect the Carina print to be replaced by the superior CMF S2 print Same goes for Ron and Hermione. I’m so glad they’re finally able (or willing) to do that
  18. Yeah, the sheer amount of upcoming shows might be a problem for TLG Personally, I would rather see them release 1-2 sets per show instead of focussing only on a select few series. And there are certainly shows that provide more set opportunities than others, which should also be taken into account. The secrecy surrounding the series might be an additional factor. The Kenobi and Andor ones will certainly have less spoilers than the ones centered around characters whose fates we don’t know yet (The Acolyte, Ahsoka). Worst case scenario: they ignore the shows and only release vaguely-connected OT sets as tie-ins, similar to how they handled some of the DCEU material (e.g. a set with ANH Obi to tie in with the Kenobi show )
  19. Forgive me for harping on it, but how could it be LESS exciting than that wave? Huh, didn’t connect the dots there. I was always under the impression that those catalogues still existed and that they just got better at preventing them from leaking, but this makes a lot more sense
  20. Agreed, that wasn’t a fair competition at all. They should’ve done it one of two ways: either have all options be new and underutilised licenses or pit the established themes against one another. I think SW vs Minecraft vs Marvel vs DC or Lilo & Stitch vs Jaws vs Doctor Who vs X would have been a bit more balanced We got a Stitch minifig in Disney CMF series 1 at least, does that count as a set? And I just realised that this marks the second time Stitch has lost an Ideas competition
  21. Everyone loves pandas The voting results are there, and oh surprise, Star Wars won They really shouldn’t have included SW in here, it was so obvious from the get-go it would win. They don’t specify which character(s) it’s going to be, but don’t be surprised if turns out to be a 501st Clone Trooper
  22. Agreed It’s a nice way to tidy us over until we hear more news about the 2HY sets. In hindsight, it makes me wonder how we survived the drought between September 2019 and February 2020 (or December, in case you’re not a naughty boy or girl savaging the advent calendar right after release ) Speaking of which: It’s nice opening two doors each day to get some Denmarky goodness, no empathy for anyone who couldn’t wait
  23. Good news: the MBoM GWP set will be available on s@h starting Jan 1st and thus coincides with the release of the ‚moments’ sets: https://www.promobricks.de/lego-harry-potter-monsterbuch-januar-2020/113610/ Now I‘m really glad I was patient with this one
  24. Wasn‘t the TIE Fighter Pilot helmet a retailer exclusive set? It got revealed alongside the rest of the wave, but didn‘t leak beforehand Definitely agree. Even the set lists are much more secretive than before. And now that the toy fairs have all been cancelled or postponed, there‘s even less of a chance for some juicy reveals
  25. I hope that‘s true Luigi > Mario
