DC Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
As @Ashnflash points out in his latest video, there’s a Batman Beyond trademark blurb in DC’s “about” section on s@h Not sure if this indicates potential sets, but if not, what is it doing there? And if it’s in reference to the videogames, I’d expect there to be some other names too Edit: Ninja’d -
Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Licensed
There’s dozens of examples (Hawkeye’s red-tinted goggles in the Avengers sets, The “Mandarin”’s hairstyle, Kylo Ren’s grey shuttle & its non-foldable wings, just to name a few) If you find any glaring inconsistencies between sets and what you see on-screen, concept art is usually to blame (or rather the concept art being outdated by the time the design gets finalised). And you’re right, we shouldn’t give up hope just yet. As mentioned in my previous post, a gap of 1 month between set and film release is not unheard of. Honestly, I’m more worried about Fantastic Beasts 3 not having any sets dedicated to it, Indy 5 in comparison still seems like a save bet to me -

Most sets take up to one year from inception to release, so for almost every movie tie-in, they have to start designing the respective sets before the film production is over, which is why they have to rely on concept art so often -

We shouldn’t give up hope for a full wave this soon Sets getting released 2-3 months ahead of the respective movie is common, but not mandatory. For instance, the sets based on KotCS came out the same month the movie did. Sure, that was 13 years ago, but there are recent examples too that had an interval shorter than two months (Eternals and Avengers Endgame, just to name a few). So a wave being scheduled for June cannot be ruled out yet -

Wow, that's a really impressive trailer! Can't wait Serkis looks great as Alfred, but the hairpiece they chose for the minifig is not the best fit That hairpiece rarely fits, actually -

That's what we all thought last year, and yet, here we are I don't expect anything specific out of this theme anymore, I just accept what's coming Better than getting disappointed again and again -

Not sure why everyone is discussing about Gringotts again… again AGAIN Unless the designers were winking very hard when they said it, a Gringotts set is not currently being planned and even if it was right now, larger sets tend to take more time to design. So if there’s one coming, we probably shouldn’t expect it before 2023 Besides, we don’t even know whether there will be a D2C set next year in the first place -

Well, the existence of the Lightyear subtheme was only revealed yesterday, so there’s still a chance -

Not really. A set appearing out of nowhere was ruled out from the get-go and while a new game would have been neat, it’s not really necessary -

1) This is an Ideas set, so inserting minidolls would make little sense, considering they weren’t in the original submission either 2) How on Earth would they design minidolls based on the dwarves? -

Possible? Yes. Likely? Ehhhh… Let’s say I wouldn’t bet a dime on it. But if they’re playing their hand well, they can get a lot out of 2 prints (and possibly a recoloured piece) for each pack -

How are they supposed to make sets based on a non-visual medium? Just make everything up? Yes, nothing easier than creating designs out of thin air based on an existing IP that are still supposed to please every stakeholder involved With film-based sets, at least everybody is adhering to the same frame of reference -

VERY unlikely, considering this is not directly set in the Toy Story universe. It’s the story of the astronaut that inspired the toy -

Yeah, no big surprise there Good for those who want to participate though, the prize appears to be massive Maybe we get some minifig leaks soon as a consolation prize Last year, McGonagall leaked on the 18th of October -

While I’d love a BB pack, I’m very doubtful it’s actually feasible with only around two new prints Sure, SW has a higher budget than other themes, but that doesn’t automatically translate to higher-value accessory packs How about a Mando pack then? Beskar Mando, a repeat of another character like Cara, a Stormie, plus an Incinerator Trooper as the new minifig Btw, speaking of Beskar Mando: I love how it went from one of the most anticipated minifigs last winter to now being one of the most easy to get Probably the easiest-to-acquire minifig with arm-printing EVER -

Don’t give me hope And keep in mind that the new prints could be virtually anything, not necessarily just minifig parts. This year’s HP pack for instance featured a new printed 2x3 tile as one of its two exclusive prints -

Not sure what this has to do with the GWP set Whatever that “big” thing is, I doubt there’s any connection …unless the GWP is the big thing, in which case brickfanatics need to have a word with their source -

These two and the Razorcrest MF - which together form the puny January wave - will get revealed this way, no doubt. The question is if the much more interesting March stuff also gets unveiled on one of those Tuesdays Not really a fan of these fragmented waves, to be honest. Maybe there are logistic reasons behind it, in which case it’s weird that neither of the last two 2HY waves seem to have been affected in the same way -

TLG is participating in the “Bring Home The Bounty” event, in which new merch will be revealed each Tuesday for the next 12 weeks If we’re lucky, Boba’s palace might get revealed this way, probably pretty close to the premier of the first episode though (or at least after the first trailer has aired). Technically, there are enough sets that one could be revealed every week, but I have sincere doubts they’d unveil a set scheduled for May in December, let alone earlier If we’re particularly unlucky, it’s just the boring January wave -

As others have already pointed out, a Dragold minifig makes ZERO sense because the Hedwig set doesn’t provide a stand for him Sure, they could include an extension for the stand as an add-on, but A) that’d be completely useless on its own and B) the completed stand would not be symmetrical any more -

Huh… Not sure what to think of that. It’s essentially just a scaled-up version of what the last few GWP sets did. I wonder if they’ll continue with those as well in parallel or if they come up with something new for the May the 4th promos (or just go back to promotional minifigs, as they should ) -

That was just a re-release of the old games A new one with updated mechanics and designs in the same vein as the SW one would be amazing -

At this point, TLG themselves haven’t hyped up anything though Press X to doubt The year is nearing its end and I heavily doubt they’d be able to keep something like this a secret. We’ve known about the three November D2C sets (AT-AT, Titanic, Tumbler) for ages, since early spring even in some cases. I still think a videogame announcement is much more likely. Sure, labelling it as part of the 20th anniversary would make little sense, but if it exists in the first place, then maybe it was intended to be released this year and then got delayed along with LSW?
