Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Random question, but has anyone modified their 2021 chess set to make it more playable? 2x2 jumper plates surrounded by 2x2 corner tiles wouldn‘t work because of the gaps underneath Asking for my GF, I myself don‘t modify sets, my purist heart couldn‘t bear it -

The last time I checked, this was the LEGO Indy thread, not the „let‘s dunk on KotCS like it‘s 2008“ thread You call Donovan agonizingly aging to death in seconds boring? Include that as a play feature and voilà! That’s a cool 30-40$ set right there -

I think it‘d be pretty tough to fit all of that into a single set! The three trials are all substantial structures in the movie with a corridor, a large pit, and then that bridge. I‘d rather just have the grail room -

Agreed. Maybe it‘s the perspective, but this looks nothing like the leak to me -

I don‘t care about the license at all, but it definitely has some potential for interesting new parts! *cue people complaining that this theme received a budget that should‘ve gone to new Clonetrooper helmets/Brachiosaurus body parts/ Henry Jones Sr.‘s hat instead* Is there anything/one you don‘t have a derogatory nickname for? -

I mean, technically, you could train an algorithm to create LEGO models. But that requires feeding it with a TON of data and defining which pieces can and cannot be connected in what ways. This is incredibly complex, even if you just use 2x4 bricks, let alone brackets, slopes, wedges, axles and so on. And even if you have all that, you need to somehow map that to a prompt, which is a whole other issue So yeah, that can be ruled out. My guess is someone took a really crappy picture at the toy fair in Nuremberg and used an AI tool to smooth it out, leading to the patchwork we‘re seeing here -

The picture is indeed mangled, but this cannot be the result of AI. The details are still way too specific, like Belloq‘s hat, the idol, or the wall decorations Hoping for some decent images soon! -
Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Licensed
Looks real to me But come on people, those algorithms are not (yet) able to replicate highly complex building techniques! The only AI-generated LEGO models that would even be slightly believable would have to be mosaics. We would see soooooo many artifacts it wouldn‘t even be funny! Additional fingers would be the least of their problems -

Just to pop this particular balloon before it gets any traction: the same joker that made those fake force ghost pieces last year is at it again with fake leaks Don‘t fall for it, guys -

Am I the only one hoping for some BrickHeadz in the summer? Indy is the only theme I‘m collecting (besides Mario) that hasn‘t gotten the BrickHeadz treatment yet -

I disagree with that reasoning. Them not releasing something doesn't mean they would've created something else in its place. It's like arguing that if they ditched Star Wars, they would do Star Trek instead I'd also prefer more LOTR or Hobbit sets over ROP, but it's not like TLG pits them against one another. The reason is to give this sub-forums more traffic, simple as that The Licensed sub-forum is already pretty crowded -
Unpopular Opinions about LEGO
BrickBob Studpants replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Me I always wanted a set based on the first feature-length animated movie in history, even before the Ideas project. A true childhood classic! Sure, the project got a lot of attention, but suggesting nobody cared about the idea before that is a tad silly. The source material isn’t exactly obscure, you know -

lego_minecraft_goat just backpedalled, he used the N-1 just as a background image, nothing more Not too sad about that, to be honest -

Sure hope so! The scene where the wingless plane slides through the tunnel is the funniest scene in the entire franchise to me, so hopefully they included that feature again! You‘re right! Well-spotted -
Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
Indeed. It may just be someone riding the wave of the recent leaks. No better time to post your fanfiction „leaks“ than right now I’m not dismissing the rumour out of the gate though (learnt my lesson this week), but I‘ll wait for someone reputable to confirm it before I get really excited about it. It would definitely make sense at least. Excluding Sandman and Lizard sounds like something they would do, and the battle on the Statue of Liberty is by far the most suitable scene to base a set on -

I also have to say, I really appreciate the boxart, especially the Indy minifig illustration! Glad they followed the Star Wars approach rather than the Harry Potter one, as they did with the 2008/09 sets -

Hooray!! The Temple of Doom is my favourite out of these three Mola Ram‘s hat looks a lot more accurate now! The Escape from the Lost Tomb set got a pretty big upgrade! Looks completely different from the original, but in a good way! Gah, still the same pith helmet on Henry Jones Sr though. Oh well, that‘s the only real drawback. Can‘t wait to see the fourth one! -

We already knew about 75355 being the May UCS set, which is why I left that detail out. …oh. I didn‘t realise this could of course also hint at the N-1 being 75355 rather than 75361 But wouldn‘t they have used a picture of the old „UCS“ set in that case? -

BrickHeadz aren’t “old” and none of the prices we know match either of those Maybe the return of a gimmick à la super-jumper? -
Wizarding World 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
No. Of course it cannot be ruled out entirely, but why would they release an add-on to a 5 year old set? And one that probably isn’t able to stand on its own to boot? Or maybe it is, but I don’t think many people would buy such a set unless they already own its 2018 precursor, which heavily limits sales -
DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
That‘s not a price I‘m willing to pay Jok(er)ing aside, I highly doubt the „return“ of the theme will incorporate the DCEU in any way, shape, or form, except for that Flash set and perhaps an Aquaman 2 one. Order of likelihood regarding the summer wave in my mind: Comic-inspired Nolan / Burton movie sets Sets based on the 60s show BTAS sets like the 2024(?) D2C Sets inspired by the videogames Entirely made up stuff Sets created with non-Euclidean geometry Sets based on the CW shows Sets based on the movie „The Bat Whispers“ from 1930 Sets based on the pre-2023 DCEU Btw, I don‘t hate the DCEU. But there’s no chance they will release anything based on the Snyderverse ever again -

lego_minecraft_goat posted a picture of the 2015 N-1 Starfighter in their IG story with „75361 is coming this year” pasted over it. Meh. Sure, there hasn’t been a TPM version since 2015, but it still feels unnecessary. Hope it includes some cool minifigs at least I feel a wave of remakes incoming. „Pretty controversial“ indeed -

BrickBob Studpants replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Yeah, this does not look like a $250 set to me More like $150 at most. Also, I hope the final product‘s not a 2 in 1 set. To me, the two versions look so different that I would feel compelled to get two copies just to be able to display them both. So, I‘d rather just have the BotW version, while still keeping the Young Link minifig of course. …which is kind of like having the cake and eating it too. Fudge. -

Indeed! While I have mixed feelings on the show and some of its designs (the short-haired elves in particular), a lot of the characters would make for cool minifigs, the dwarves and harfoots especially! Still hoping for more long-haired elves in S2
