Indiana Jones 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Pulp Detective's topic in LEGO Licensed
Not impossible, but why not just create a piece that can work for both young and old Indy at the same time (and other characters too), rather than one that requires printing? Having to print over the hat band kinda defeats the purpose of having it moulded in the first place I don’t think I’m being dramatic here. Just questioning why they didn’t create a more versatile piece -

Fair enough, those might work. However, as nice as the hat piece looks, I still think it‘s silly they limited its versatility like that Another baffling decision in this sea of baffling decisions -

Old Indy isn‘t bald though If DoD sets were ever on the table, they surely would‘ve found a way to create a more versatile piece in the first place! This one can only be used for young Indy or other fedora-wearers with brown hair -

Baylan, Shin, and Elsbeth in the same set?! Now you have my attention Hope the first two get nice new orange blades! So all we‘re missing in terms of major characters is Zeb, Ezra, and Thrawn. -

Also, that new poster looks great! Gah, I wish I could travel to a parallel universe where TLG makes sets for this and they just released a LEGOfied version of the poster But maybe that reality is ruled by mutated demon Furbys, so maybe it’s better to stay here -

I‘m having dinner at a restaurant while the livestream happens, so no live translations on my part, sadly Unless they take as long as last time to drop the news, at which point I might be back home already -

Huh. So the minifig described as an Inquisitor actually is one Wonder if that‘s a flashback or if there actually is an Inquisitor that survived past ANH. So far, the Eighth Brother had survived the longest until his demise in Rebels S2. The two characters with orange lightsabers aren‘t Inquisitors. Allegedly, they are -

Love the new trailer! I know it‘s pointless to fantasise about it, but this had just so much set potential The Tuk-tuk chase, NYC parade, Voller‘s plane, and that temple would‘ve been amazing, but alas… -

Very unlikely. Even though Dobby is smaller in stature, the set is still too cheap to be in that style *sad maxifig noises* -

Yeah, that‘s what I‘m thinking. Madine would be way cooler since we haven‘t seen him in a set since 2009, but it has to be Dodonna -

Well, this is strong evidence for the theory that the DoD sets weren‘t cancelled. Instead, they must never have been planned to begin with. Otherwise, they would have designed a more versatile piece This also explains why they didn‘t use it for Grant or Hammond in the new Jurassic Park sets. -

Wait, so I got everything right, except for Neville? That would make sense, so each hero has their main opponent to fight! -

Promobricks assume it’s towards the beginning of May, but I have no idea whether they‘ve heard something to suggest that or if they think that based on other reveals. Personally, I think it could theoretically be any day between tomorrow and early May Last year was exceptionally early tho (due to the reveal being tied to the release of SoD), so I think around the 20th is more realistic -

Really? I thought it was a “triple mould”. If you’re correct, consider that another nail in the coffin for older Indy. If the hatband and hair truly are moulded together, that means the piece was designed exclusively for young Indy. No. -

Not very likely anymore, I’m afraid. So far, not a single one of the survey leak sets has been confirmed for this year. Looks like Disney is either extending the 100th anniversary to 2024, sets on the classic movies become more commonplace, or the leaked ones were already cancelled and got replaced with what we’re getting now My guess is the first option (Disney continuing the celebration into 2024), which would certainly warrant more sets -

*Cut to someone at TLG hovering their hand over a big red button labelled „cancel random set“, giggling with excitement* Sounds like a good wave overall, but I‘m nowhere near as excited as a lot of people seem to be. At the end of the day, 90% of this year‘s output are still just remakes. Granted, highly requested remakes, but remakes nonetheless -

That just makes it worse It‘s so weird to see marketing for a movie that TLG should have covered, but decided not to, for whatever reason. Sure, there was FB3 last year, but the hype surrounding DoD is much higher, and almost nobody was sad about that particular movie not getting any sets Seeing Hasbro merrily reveal their DoD product line-up is just going to be painful. -

Yeah, that is still a tough pill to swallow. Having built the sets, I all just feels so hollow and half-baked. Not the sets themselves, mind, but rather the approach. And we likely won’t ever get any official explanation. I hope Promobricks at least will one day explain what was up with those 4 made-up set numbers A game of telephone perhaps? -

It’s not completely out of the blue tho. The wide release being scheduled for June and them being delayed for a year to coincide with DoD clearly indicates they are meant to tie in with the movie, despite not being based on it -

Still wouldn‘t be happy about the remake, but this would make it at least a bit more palatable. Not very likely tho Not exactly high on my wishlist, but I‘d take it I guess with these two sets, every new minifig needs to be viewed as a win… -
