Unpopular Opinions about LEGO

Um, what are these estimates based on, exactly? Sorry, but the notion that Blacktron could reach 80% of the sales figures that SW generates is downright laughable -

That sounds… ominous I always wondered what happened to them. After all, they‘re breaking NDAs, which can get pretty ugly I imagine -

The difference is that the Leaky Cauldron was baseless speculation, whereas the Vault GWP has been confirmed by multiple leakers -
Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Indeed. Most D2C sets are available at selected retailers three months after their initial release. If Barad-dûr got released on s@h and in LEGO stores in March like Rivendell did, retailers would get it in June at the earliest, explaining why it’s not featured in the 1HY lists If I could only pick one set from the survey leak to become a reality, Barad-dûr would be it, as much as I love Zelda The Eye of Sauron is easily the most iconic thing about the entire franchise to me, apart from the One Ring that is. And that Sauron minifig alone would be worth the price of admission -

Makes sense! That'd be my choice too, visually. Good point! And the green one is nowhere near as prominent in the marketing as the other two, especially the orange one, which seems to be the "main" variant -

A Space theme would never outsell Star Wars though, just to name an example. Among nostalgia-focussed AFOLs perhaps, but certainly not among kids. LSW has even become its own brand of sorts in the meantime Shouldn’t the 18+ sets appeal to that exact demographic? Kids “too old” to play with colourful playsets, but already in the right age range to build the more challenging, impressive-looking display models? -

I dug around a bit more and a Swiss retailer has the three sets listed as “Disney Princess Confi 1”, “[…] 2” and “[…] 3”. Of course this doesn’t outright confirm that they’re all based on Wish, but it looks pretty likely -

What resources do you mean? The last few Space themes for instance had huge budgets. The number of new minifig parts (especially alien heads) was astounding and the number of recoloured parts was pretty impressive too. The last Castle and Pirates themes weren’t that special, but it still had a lot going for them in terms of designs. Also, pouring in more money doesn’t guarantee more success. You cannot brute-force your way into good sales. A lot of AFOLs seem to be under the impression that what they liked as kids will also automatically appeal to kids nowadays, and that simply isn’t true. Here’s my unpopular opinion: Castle, Space, and Pirates are the three most overrated themes in TLG’s history. There, I said it None of them hold a candle to Adventurers, Rock Raiders/Power Miners, Ninjago, or any licensed theme for that matter Feel free to burn me at the stake for my heresy -

The source of the leak, an Italian retailer, calls it “Disney Princess Castle”, so yeah, I think a minifig set can be ruled out Those have “classic animation” in their codenames -

43224 is allegedly codenamed “Castle”. Hoping for a minifig set of course, but I think another minidoll set based on Wish is more likely -

I wonder which of the three missings bits of information will find its way to us first: Gringotts review GWP infos/leak 2024 info Any of those could theoretically hit us at any time now -

BrickBob Studpants replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
It is pretty suspicious that the GWP hasn’t leaked yet. While the leakers have stated from the get-go that it would coincide with the D2C set, it might as well have been an educated guess. After all, a Gringotts GWP coinciding with a Gringotts D2C would make perfect sense, wouldn’t it? But this is TLG, their release strategies are not always that obvious I still choose to believe the leakers for the time being, but if this doesn’t surface soon, there’s no way it’ll release Sep 1st. -

Shinies, huh? Not the most exciting option out there, but at least they’re not 501st, so I’ll take it I’m more excited to hear details about the Skeleton Crew set though (unless it’s been delayed, since we still have no idea when the show itself will actually air). The ship looked interesting in the concept art and there could be some intriguing minifigs in the mix! Also looking forward to our first Jude Law minifig -

Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Licensed
It’s already been confirmed that Deadpool 3 will get an R-rating, just like the first two. So yeah, veeeeeeery family-friendly Next to impossible. Why would they produce sets for a movie the kids aren’t allowed to see? TLG releasing sets would likely give parents the wrong impression that the movie is suitable for kids, which it obviously won’t be I know there were toylines for R-rated movies in the 80s, but those days are over and I can’t imagine TLG wanting to be a part of that The best you can hope for are loose tie-in sets, and even that’s a stretch. -
Dang. The corpse isn’t even cold yet and you’re already discussing the inheritance Seriously though, I wouldn’t mind a new in-house adventure theme. It’s been a while!

I sure hope so. With all the characters involved, one set will not be enough to do that film justice! -

Judging by some of the 1HY leaks (e.g. the Warbird and the NWH set), they’re definitely continuing with sets based on previous movies. Personally, I’d love for them to revisit some films they’ve barely covered before (DS, CA:TWS) or better yet, movies they’ve never made sets for (TTDW, CA:TFA, TIH) Or some post- Infinity Saga sets that aren’t based on NWH, but the demand for that is rather questionable, admitedly. Out of all the phase 4 and 5 films so far, I wouldn’t mind more sets based on MoM, Quantumania, and GotG V3. The others have been covered well enough, I feel. And yeah, 2024 is going to be an interesting year for Marvel… There’s no way Thunderbolts won’t be moved, and I’m adamant that Deadpool 3 won’t have tie-in sets (pun fully intended). Which leaves us with one CA:BNW set for the entire year. Ouch. Hey, better situation than what DC fans have to deal with at least -

That‘s exactly one of the main reasons I’m not buying it. Eighth Brother was a Terrelian Jango Jumper whereas Marrok looks a lot more like a human. The diffences are too noticable to be chalked up to the character‘s supposed translation into live-action -

If he‘s human, that is. Could be an alien species we don‘t have minifigs of yet And of course there‘s always the chance he dies before ever unmasking, something he‘d have in common with Eighth Brother (unless they‘re one and the same as some believe, but I don‘t) -

Yeah, that argument is nonsense. You don‘t pay interest, and Tom never comes to hound you about it But you‘re right, those two BrickHeadz are most likely Tom and Isabelle Finally, our first Nintendo BrickHeadz!
