LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
BrickBob Studpants replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
There’s a review of the Ghost & Phantom II on brickset Looks like an excellent set and a pretty substantial improvement over the 2014 version, but I wonder what’s up with the inaccurate exhaust colour. No biggie, but it is quite noticeable -
Lego Avatar 2022/3 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Mr No's topic in LEGO Licensed
Oh, definitely! A set based on the climax of the first movie with a titanothere and an RDA vehicle has a lot of potential. In terms of minifigs, I’d like to see Grace’s avatar body! Or maybe Dr. Garvin. A minifig of Jermaine Clement would be pretty neat! -
Marvel Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

I hope they’ll take advantage of the movie gap next year by releasing more Infinity Saga sets. My biggest wish right now would be a DS set featuring Kaecilius, mostly because I want a Mads Mikkelsen minifig Isn’t it supremely ironic that the currently most famous Danish actor (arguably even of all time) just cannot get represented by the most famous Danish toy company even if his life depended on it, despite having roles in so many major franchises? Out of his characters, Kaecilius is the only one with even a remote chance at this point. Not particularly likely, but then again, they do like to shove Dr Strange in all sorts of sets lately. Fingers crossed -

Right? It’s my favourite Marvel set this year, and the AT has to really deliver to top it The Endgame set is not quite on the same level, but still a great set. I hope they continue with vignettes like this. They could easily be Marvel’s equivalent to the dioramas! -
DC Superheroes 2023 - Rumors & Discussion

Huh, weird way to spell Batman, The Joker and Harley Quinn Seriously though, that‘d be awesome! I have no faith in DC whatsoever anymore, but maybe we’ll be pleasantly surprised -
71046 CMF series 26: Space themed!
BrickBob Studpants replied to Megbricks's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Us AFOLs sure are a funny bunch. I remember all the complaints about specialised series being way too niche (S14 and ESPECIALLY S18) and everybody preferring variety, but as soon as it's a specialised Space theme: *crickets* -

You think it‘s a coincidence they changed it AFTER people were loudly complaining about the votes being split? -

The GWP set has leaked (picture in the usual place)!! The goblin has an exclusive faceprint by the looks of it -

43248 is a Pixar set Hopefully a movie that hasn‘t been represented yet, like Ratatouille! -
Lego Avatar 2022/3 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Mr No's topic in LEGO Licensed
It was pushed back from Dec 24 to Dec 25 well before the strikes began, but further delays are unlikely in my mind. It‘s far enough away as not be affected by the strikes and large chunks have already been filmed to boot Now I wonder what they will cover. Character-wise, we got most of the important players already. Same goes for the creatures, except for the viperwolves and hammerheads from the first film. More RDA vehicles then? -
Lego Avatar 2022/3 - Rumors & Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Mr No's topic in LEGO Licensed
Something tells me they aren‘t gonna release sets in 2024 based on a movie scheduled for December 2025 Some people are questioning whether these even are Avatar sets, but they immediately follow the previous set numbers, so they have to be. Consider me stunned, I thought we wouldn‘t see new sets for another two years! -

A 1HY wave? For DC?! What‘s going on Look at all those potential Jokers, Harleys, and Batsys, I can already smell them -

Who would put actual coins in there? I think it‘s meant to hold the three larger coins included in the D2C set, similar to how the Gryffindor dormitory GWP allowed you to display the chocolate frog cards -

How are unlicensed series supposed to help with that though? Sure, they save themselves the licensing fees, but unlicensed series will hardly convince people that dislike the boxes to stick around If customers detest the boxes to the degree it becomes noticeable in the sales (which I‘m not fully convinced yet will actually happen), it‘d be more reason than ever to go all-in with desirable licensed characters. Just my two cents. -

2014 only saw the release of 3 proper BPs though, while there were 4 in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 -

Dylan Chow has posted a teaser for the GWP set on IG, but I‘m not sure if it‘s a mock-up or an actual teaser Looks like a neat little set either way! -

That comparison doesn‘t really work. First off, the various space themes had their own branding, whereas all SW sets are branded under the same banner. Secondly, the SW subthemes all co-exist whereas the Space subthemes replaced one another with little overlap. Thirdly, remember the vote for the 90th anniversary set, where even TLG themselves considered the Space subthemes to be their own thing? Sure, they changed it later to appease the outraged Space fans, but their first impulse was still to look at them as separate themes. -

Various subthemes maybe, but not as a singular theme. Hi, I‘m nobody. Come on, that‘s just your opinion, not a fact. Plenty of people like the ST and RO is one of the most popular SW movies out there. Even Solo has a loyal fan club. If you honestly think they‘re all terrible, you desperately need to see more movies, because you‘ve never seen a truly bad movie then -

Surprised to hear it‘s actually compatible with the set! Now I wonder who the goblin is. PS Griphook or perhaps a random one? -

How about the fact LSW celebrates its 25th anniversary next year, whereas all space themes bite the dust after a few short years And do you seriously suggest random generic spaceman #4 can hold a candle to merchandise juggernauts like Darth Vader or Grogu? -

Probably the latter. Hasn‘t it been said that the clone vehicle is not canon? Either way, that‘s a bit disappointing. A crab droid is almost 20 years overdue …does it need a restraining order? -

Um, what are these estimates based on, exactly? Sorry, but the notion that Blacktron could reach 80% of the sales figures that SW generates is downright laughable -

That sounds… ominous I always wondered what happened to them. After all, they‘re breaking NDAs, which can get pretty ugly I imagine -

Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion
BrickBob Studpants replied to Momotof's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Indeed. Most D2C sets are available at selected retailers three months after their initial release. If Barad-dûr got released on s@h and in LEGO stores in March like Rivendell did, retailers would get it in June at the earliest, explaining why it’s not featured in the 1HY lists If I could only pick one set from the survey leak to become a reality, Barad-dûr would be it, as much as I love Zelda The Eye of Sauron is easily the most iconic thing about the entire franchise to me, apart from the One Ring that is. And that Sauron minifig alone would be worth the price of admission
