I like this version better, if nothing, because of the colours on the roof ^^ I agree that a tree might have added something and it's a pityt that the wainwright's face got hidden behind that spear, but they're both minor concerns. On the contrary, your Tudor is really neat and the wall texture is nice. I also like how you've used dark bley instead of the light one as well as those inverted slopes in the wall to get to the 2nd story of the building - I've always thought they should be wooden, but you've made me change my mind

I can see them now, not sure what happened yesterday. Lovely vignette, once more! How did you make the last immersive shot, the focused on the back, blurred on the front? I love it!

Kaliphlin at Work - Day 17: Glass Workshop in Barqa
en_zoo replied to Gideon's topic in Guilds of Historica
hahaha look, I don't even know what to say, apart from the fact that it's the very first time that I started laughing simply because a build is SO amazing! Really well done! P.S. I do love the lore you added to it as well.- 18 replies

Kaliphlin at Work - Day 16: Wahall's Goat Farm
en_zoo replied to LittleJohn's topic in Guilds of Historica
O my, I'm in love with this! A real Kaliphin feel, nice texture, lovely palette, the awning are a very nice touch as well as the brick-build curtains. What really catches my eye every time though, is the way you go with architecture and space throughout - the architectural details, indeed, but also their distribution and the proportions of the whole build (in lenght/width but also height with the different levels, like here)! I also have 2 quick questions: the colours on the terrain? Bottom to top: flesh, dark medium flesh and dark orange? And that design for the windows - the cheese slopes aren't attached, they simply fit, right? -
@Muakhah I can see only 2 of the pics - maybe you've edited the original post?

Nice round hut! Love the base and the palette (I had missed that build from Blufiji) - I'm gonna have to copy it at some point. I've also enjoyed the story a lot, keep it up! Wait, MDF in 1x2 plates? *Goes and adds to BL wanted list* P.S. Still autumn..

Lots of nice details here, SK! Love the cart and the girl at the window, yet the best part for me is the ascending cobblestone I also enjoy all of the Tudors quite a lot - you mentioned the limited space and I think you succeded, as there's nothing missing and yet it doesn't look overcrowded

Previously Laesonar's Saga Episode 8 - Laelariel City Hall A veil of sadness crossed Jeffrey's mind as he started to climb up the cobblestone while listening to Sir Humborth's words. "… and after hearing of the unfortunate disappearance of the Lord of Laelariel as well as his heirs, I was sent here from Albion to investigate the possibility of nominating a new Lord for these lands. I've just arrived with a small escort. Unfortunately, the place isn't exactly swarming with life.. " Armin nodded "I understand, Sir Humborth. Which is why you need the last Lord's will and testament and those other documents." Jeffrey pointed to the building above them "Here. This used to be our city hall. We used to have messengers, ravens, horses and so many documents that we had started the plan to build a library... " He sighed "Now there's only my office inside. Not that I've had much to write lately... but we kept the whole building in order as well as all of the documents. You might be able to find what you need here, my Lords." Armin smiled satisfied "Thank you for allowing us too, Mr. Von Jeff. My order is sworn to preserve the natural order of things and it seems to me that this city wasn't meant to end like this, so I'd like to investigate a bit." "It's my pleasure, master Paladin. We shall accept any sort of help that we're offered." "Very well then, first things first: history. Why does the city have an elvish name, for example. Laesonar, aren't you curious?" ….. "Laesonar?" The half-elf was nearby, but... "Ahem... Yes, yes, master Paladin, you lead the way." Full build --> ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Here, guys & gals, bigger build, shorter episode ^^ I've started this build before reading the HSS rules, by which a City Hall isn't required for a Hamlet.. oh well, I guess it'll count later on then Overall, I'm pretty pleased with the result, though I'm afraid my horrible photography skills don't make it justice, especially the bigger roof.. I'm still messing up with the lighting and the editing, I've even forgot to crop it! I'm unsure of a few other things, yet my main focus here was the palette.. which I'm also still unsure about But I'll leave the C&C to you guys - thanks for looking! @mccoyed sorry about the central alignement again! I'm afraid I've come to like it.. @Basiliscus @TitusV More blue, as I promised Edit: next episode

lovely wall texture the terrain could do with a path or some sort of variety. As for the pharmacist, I wouldn't trust him! nice choice!

hey @Grover, nice to see your introduction again, it's intriguing enough! hope to also see some builds from you soon! -
As I said, MDMM. Full stop. I love all the activity here and I've come to really like those log brick-coloumns of yours. The ex-barracks turned into a mini-temple cracks me up!
-
Lovely build. I didn't think blue (pavement) could go well with flesh - you proved me wrong Say, I think I've missed some of dG's story - is there any sort of link I can follow to read back what happened to him? Example: why/when was he in Mesozoic instead of Sionnach?

My my my! Check out the spot HQ&Galaria got themselves! So spacious (hight of the walls, shelves into the wall) and bright (love the iondows.. do I really have to comment on the lighting??), with all that nice stuff (armchairs, fireplace..). What a nice spot for their children to grow up, too, with such variety of characters bringing together their different experiences! Definitely much better than the gramps' hole, all tradition and his stuffy rules!

Well hello, I believe I've never commented on a build of yours as I was in a kind of.. ahem.. break when you arrived from AG ^^ So... well.. I just love it that dome is beautiful indeed and I particularly like the opening in it. I enjoy how neat the whole build is, while releasing a true Kaliphinian feel. Maybe a little more texture or some sort of structure/architectural detail on the outside wall would be nice, as well as a bit of terrain all around it. You also have some sweet combos for the figs, particularly the guards. Finally, I've read back to the 2 previous episodes and got really involved into the story, which I find intriguing and well written --> I want more, keep this up!

awesome job, LJ. Believe it or not, I love that wardrobe But this is also full of nice architectural details. My fav must be the use of the plate with rail instead of an inverted slope at the top-right - it looks wonderful oh and that guy with glasses and the book, that is someone's sigfig, isn't it? I can't remember where I've seen it though..

oh my this is simply awesome! when I've spotted it on Flickr I've first thought of Eero, indeed, yet there was something different - I think you managed very well to make it your creation And although the subject is great, I must ask how you got that background.. What was the MOC standing on at the moment of the pic?
-
hahaha good one I do feel ya, however. I don't envy your Mitgardian location.. Also, really nice build man, it's really neat! I really like the tree and the terrain, but especially how the pavement and the wall texture blend together
-
hahaha I love the vignette, the guy, the cart, all of the stuff on it! I also really like your way of building the terrain, I remember seeing more from you last year And say, what's the official name of that light yellow? It looks super cool with the 2 tans!
-
ohh nice angles on the house and sweet texture on the tower, but the terrain I'm literally in love with!

Kaliphlin at Work - Day 12: Mophet blacksmith and armory
en_zoo replied to adde51's topic in Guilds of Historica
uhhmmm 'MDMM' is your new nickname, as far as I'm concerned; as in Mophet-Developing MOCing-Machine. Or something on this line No seriously, really nice vignette ^^ The blacksmith area is nice and I think the pattern on the armory walls are just fine. Also, it's a new building in Mophet, right? So I don't feel the need for more texture this time.. As you said yourself, the terrain is somewhat weird, yet I do have problems with number of pieces every time I try a cobblestone, so I feel ya there! -
Kaliphlin at Work - Day 9: Mophet - guardtower
en_zoo replied to adde51's topic in Guilds of Historica
hey nice job here! I'm unsure about the path: do you wanted a cobblestone or simply a path? Or maybe something unfinished was your aim? On the other hand, I really really like what you did with the log bricks there! My favourite part must be above the door though.. -
Nice job here, Adde! I'd like to see some texture on the right side of the wall. Really good cobblestone though, I love the activity as well and it's really nice to see how Mophet is developing, keep it up!

Kaliphlin at Work - Day 2: Qarkyr Box Gardens
en_zoo replied to Kai NRG's topic in Guilds of Historica
Nice work here, Kai - lovely vignette with a lovely the Kaliphin-feel Cool use of the Snyder-cobblestone and really nice veg gardens! How does it feel to use green? Remember that awesome tree-hugger's feeling? -
Thanks SK, nice to know you're reading along and glad you noticed those details. I do need to find a different way for the roof gable though, I've got bored with this one Here you are! I've been waiting for your comment on the Tudor, boss! No seriously, glad you like those details ^^ As for your point about the blue all over the place, you're not the first one pointing it out ( @Basiliscus) - I do have one WIP that way, then I'll have to think about it and I do accept suggestions for other colours! The medium blue on the walls is here to stay, so a new colour that can go well with it is in need for the Tudor - I can't think of anything else but Sand Green or Flesh, apart from Lavender, that is... Yes, I think I wanna go lavender! As for the Neo-Classic thing, that's exactly what we meant! ZC's and DC's work being the Classic one, this fellow builder mentioned ours as 'neo' (you might know him from Flickr, his nick is Wochenender). Though I consider myself as a follower of your style, rather than an exponent of your caliber! I could open a discussion about this.. Thank you Adde, I'm glad you like it! ^^
