[Chal. V - Cat. C] In the Face of Death and Destruction
en_zoo replied to Umbra-Manis's topic in Guilds of Historica
really nice st of small builds - like the others, I particularly like the last one; you picked the right backgrund for the top of a tower. But for me what steals the scene is the story. I find your writing style added to the interruptions of the chronicles absolutely intriguing!- 9 replies

haha nice idea! xD the first build must be my favourite, yet the interiors are pretty cool too - good job! ^^ -
hey really nice, clean builds here - I particularly like those church windows, I find them very effective while very simple. and nice story as well, good that you included your previous builds!

you can definitely see the improvement, well done, keep it up! ^^

Book II, Challenge V, Category C: Historica United
en_zoo replied to Henjin_Quilones's topic in Guilds of Historica
Holy Goodness.. HQ, all this is amazing! I don't even know where to start from. Overall, the amount of builds is simply WICKED, I have no idea how you managed to build this much and with such clear thought in mind - you have obviously thought things through very carefully. As for the builds themselves, I reckon there are some of your best ones to date in here, the details in each one of them are stunning, from your peculiar elvish architecture, to the stained glass windows (I can't tell how you built the ones in the library..), the tail of the great eagle, the wall with the helms, the mosaic on the floor of the throne room, the throne itself and even the ale mugs (nice touch with that 1x1 round at the bottom!). But there is more. I absolutely love how not only you included many builders' sigfigs, but also how you represented them, with your own style and yet replicating some iconic details for each one of the builders: when the messenger visits Maestro, we can see tilted and textured walls, sloped snow close to Sir Glorifindel, the Mitgardian banner for Fin, a dome above Lord Aymeri's head and so on, and so on. And there's also to mention the way you intertwined some of Exetrius' last builds (the meeting room, but also the unseen arcane core) with your own story. I haven't been here very long, but if you ask me, this represents and brings together very well and in a very cool way what has been going on in Historica over the last few months. This is recalled by the title you chose: Historica United. This idea we can see once again in the 4 builds of the battles, the different landscapes of which are brought together seamlessly as they "join together in one spirit" (and in one build ^^). All of this is sewed together by a brillant, well written story. And finally, guess what? There's a Queen instead of a King! .. am I biased because we can see Laesonar flying up twice, in battle and then when he start flirting with no one else than said Queen? Maybe a bit but still, the rest cannot be denied Seriously though, a wonderful job, HQ - you're gonna need to be proud of it- 29 replies

My my my! I'm impressed and kind of speechless, Titus - so much work here! The Grand Griffon Tavern must be my favourite (love how you used the 'new' clips to attach the bars as supports in line with the Tudor ), but every single build here has something to stare at. Loads of lovely semi-snotted rockwork, landscape and details throughout. As you know, I already was a fan of your Tudor, but here you showed mastery. The number of builds is impressive and every single one has been detailed and presented very well, showing dedication. As for the story, I like how you managed to bring so many events and carachters together in such small space, making it plausible and enjoyable. Honestly, a great work!

The Katoren Struggle: Ch. 3: Dire Tidings
en_zoo replied to LittleJohn's topic in Guilds of Historica
Hey great build here! Impressive how well those colours go together, nice mosaic on the floor and hey, I didn't know about this story of yours, LJ! In fact, the 2 previous chapters date back to before I joined here. I'd seen those builds before, but so much nicer knowing that they're connected by the story, which, by the way, sounds like an intriguing one so far ^^ -
Awesome build! Impeccable swamp style as usual [I'm in love with the trees..] and really interesting architecture for the huts - crazy roofs and they don't look that easy to build, given the rounded shape and the natural-looking effect you achieved by overlapping the tiles of the boardwalks. Inspiring. .. love the surfacing croco (head)!

awesome texture; love the different-coloured Tudor. nice to see that you can still build at reasonable angles too

awesome story and very nice set of builds! for some reasons I particularly like the bridge as well as the tent where the planning takes place. not sure if I'd like to be ruled by the Desert King , but hey awesome (and big!) job overall - well done! ^^ -
haha I,ve been wondering where your 'research' on weird angles would bring you and hey, this really look like it needs magic to stay up! I think you managed well with the crazy roof shape. Lovely landscape too

Carpenter's house in Laelariel [missed deadline for Cat. B]
en_zoo replied to en_zoo's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks Gedren, I'm glad you like it! ^^ As for the UoP credits, I've done what you said and don't worry if it takes time - at the moment I'm using the list of 'exams' as a guideline to try my hands on new things, which will be useful in any case Given that you pushed me, it's very good to know that I haven't disappointed with that Tudor! [I've found out it isn't as easy as it looks.. well, for the first attempt at least ] Thanks Zoth, good to hear about the colours choice ^^ Thank you, HQ. Yes, as I've written above, when realising that I wouldn't make it for the challenge, I've decided to make it a bit bigger. Good point about the purple, I was undecided between that and lavender, but now that you say it, I should probably have stuck with green [though I do tend/like to add random colours ]. Thanks, Maestro. I'll keep in mind about going all the way with the colour of choice - good suggestion! Thanks Garm! Good point about a different colour for under the catapult. Though green wouldn't make much sense. Maybe medium flesh to show people have been walking/putting weight on that part of the ground?- 14 replies

Thanks Blufiji, I've almost missed your comment - always good to hear from you and really glad you liked the story! ^^ Thanks John! I had (have) mixed feelings about mixing the 2 shades of grey, so I'm glad to hear. Nice to know you're following along the story too!

Book II, Challenge V, Category C: How I Met Our King
en_zoo replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Guilds of Historica
Awesome stuff here, Captain! Lovely transition between normal and micro scale, but especially I've enjoyed that one force perspective - it really bring a nice variation. Good job with the story too, glad you included Gideon's Barqan Fire as well as your own previous builds from Cat. A&B- 17 replies

good job, Legofin I really like the hall, in particular those busts in the walls. I hope you'll be able to complete the story! -
'We've been deprived of everything; only few houses are still standing. We tried our best to contribute to the war against Raavage, but.. ' - A villager in Laelariel I'm sorry guys, life got in between and I missed the deadline. When realising I wouldn't make it, I decided to also go over the size restriction, so this cannot be an entry at all. However, I'm pretty satisfied with the result, so I'm posting it anyways. Sorry, I have only this one pic due to the same time constraints. It's my first attempt at a half-timbered Tudor style house, for which I'd like UoP credits - will definitely build more of this, so if you reckon this one isn't quite enough for the Credits, no worries and just say ^ The Tudor is, after all, a bit irregular, as you can see [there was a reason for this but I've quite forgotten by now..]. Special thanks must go to @TitusV for the much inspiration provided recently [I was honest, see? ] as well as @ZCerberus for the same inspiration, in particular thanks to his Beggar's Inn. Other random facts: The roof - I'd never expected to like the classic sloped roofing so much; it might be disappointing for some, but I reckon I'll stick with it for a while One part I didn't manage well is the rake, as it doesn't completely cover the black of the roof-slopes. The colours - needless to say, blue and its shades are the new addition to my palette, I really like them [yes, random dark turquoise just to see how it looks ]. I'm also looking for a smoother transition between rb and normal green - sand green helps, but I'm open to suggestions [I don't reckon dark brown would do..]. Overall, some classic techniques that I've finally tried out. C&C most welcome as usual - thanks for looking! ^^

Really nice, Maestro - simple and effective, good choice of colours and I second Titus: the pumpkin patch brings a nice variation. Nice ground texturing as well and overall, the right atmosphere for a headsman.
