  1. @Immo - you can see the rubber attachments used in my video below, they are installed in an alternating fashion as you described. In general they have a significant effect with the climbing abilities, difference is clearly visible there. The difference in traction on the floor is noticeable with the buggy motors, it does not have much visible effect on the M or XL motors.
  2. Great functionalities despite the small size! To create a power transmission you'd probably need to scale it up, then you could use a driveshaft to transmit the power along the support beams. A smaller wheel could drive the big one from the inside.
  3. Make sure you have the latest app, I had a similar issue when I tried to use a previous version
  4. Not sure if you guys realized, there's a new version of the Android app with 2 additional profiles - two sliders for precision steering for cars and and a four slider control setup. It also might be handy for some, I created a very simple adapter setup to fit the BuWizz unit in the place of the AA battery box in the 42065 RC tracked racer:
  5. @imurvai Thank you I tried that previously, for me somehow it's easier to have the 2 different axises on two separate joysticks :)
  6. @imurvai your app is amazing, a real life saver :) I uploaded a small video about the setup I used with it on the 42065 RC Tracked Racer. Unfortunately the BuWizz power output cannot be changed with the SBrick connected so it is not as fast as it could be, but much easier to control with the gamepad.
  7. @technic_addict by RF battery box, you mean this one? It's really bulky and weights almost a ton, it would ruin the performance. I didn't plan to make instructions as the structure is not that complicated, let me know if you cannot replicate based on the pictures and I can make some more of the assembly steps if that helps.
  8. I tested the PF train version with two motors, you can check the images on the blog: http://racingbrick.com/2017/04/42065-rc-tracked-racer-2-pf-train-motors/ Bottom line - PF Train motors are good for speed, not as quick as the buggy motors but 4 of them might even be able to beat them. They are definitely not the proper choice for climbing, they start to slip quickly.
  9. @davebarrett Let me know if you'll be able to test, I expect the 4 XL motors to add too much weight together. Based on my tests the 4 buggy motors were slower altogether than the 2 buggy version despite the extra power. And the buggy motor weights less than the XL motor. I think the idea suggested by @agrof could be better, to use the PF train motors. Best would be to use 4 of them, I only have two to test now :) @Alias83PL - The rotation speed of the M motor is almost the double of the XL motor, I think you should not use them connected to the same track.
  10. @agrof I couldn't resist and quickly built it :) For the first sight it is pretty fast but not as fast as the buggy motors. Will compare tomorrow in details.
  11. Cool idea, I just salvaged two of these from my son's trains so I'll test it tomorrow, will be a fairly easy build :)
  12. @DoomedACE - I created a new post with more photos about the version you asked for, you can find it here: http://racingbrick.com/2017/04/42065-rc-tracked-racer-2-buggy-buwizz-details/
  13. @Qukie - I didn't try that version as I wanted to stick to the original proportions as close as possible, but I might give it a try to compare with the 2 motor version. I don't think 4 M motors would add much speed, probably they'd help with the climbing abilities. @rm8 - that's a really cool one :) I saw your video with the BuWizz-equipped racer in the snow, do you plan to make a video with this version as well?
  14. Thank you very much everyone for the nice feedback! @dellock6 - the music is from the Youtube audio library, it is "Thor's hammer" from Ethan Meixsell - you can download it here @davebarrett - I actually tried gearing down the XL motor to have more torque for the climbing tests, but it did not make any difference. I think gearing it up would not make it significantly faster than the M motor version, or do you have a different experience? @Attika - I also tried a 2 buggy + lipo + sbrick combination, but the apparently the lipo battery was not able to feed properly the buggy motors, the setup had some issues. @DoomedACE - this was asked by others as well, I'll publish another post this afternoon with detailed pictures and I'll let you know here.
  15. Wow, this is simply amazing! I wish you had some LEDs installed to light it up like a Christmas tree!
  16. @Joefraser Thanks for the feedback, really appreciated! With the XLs you'll get great climbing abilities, even with the PF battery box.
  17. Hi everyone, I'd like to share with you my first longer blog post and my first filming attempt :) I got the 42065 RC Tracked racer some months ago and I really like the set, I think it has great potential to open the world of Technic RC vehicles for the kids. Obviously I also wanted to see how much power can be squeezed into this little body, so I got my buggy motors, BuWizz and Sbrick units and started to build some new versions :) I tried to stick to the original structure as much as possible, the base of the 4 buggy motor version had to be stretched a bit to have place for all components. You can find the video here: And the full blog post with the details: http://racingbrick.com/2017/04/ultimate-42065-rc-tracked-racer/ Please share your comments and improvement ideas, as I said this is my very first attempt creating a video or publishing content so any feedback is more than welcome :)
  18. Look for a 8366 Supersonic RC set on Ebay, with a little patience and luck you can get one around 80-90 Euros. That's basically the price of 2 buggy motors on Bricklink, and you get a bunch of other RC components to sell if you don't need them. And also 400 additional lego pieces :)
  19. Thanks Jim! Not much to share (yet ), but most of the pictures on my blog are/will be created with this setup. I'm working on a longer post & video about 42065 Tracked racer mods, will post it soon!
  20. Let me share a pic of my DIY home studio setup. You don't need that many things or really expensive stuff to achieve some good results. The only "professional" element is the grey (and white) paper roll for the background. The rest includes a modified IKEA clothes rack, some other leftover IKEA furniture pieces, two 45W LED panels, two monitor arms, and some 3d printed pieces to hold these together :)
  21. I have 8 of them currently, all of them built in. The BuWizz unit and Buggy motors are very good friends :)
  22. Can you please share the information you received? Did they start shipping already? According to the Kickstarter post they'll provide tracking numbers, but didn't recieve any yet.. I also made some tests with the new app and the older prototype unit I have, reported my findings and the bugs I saw but got no feedback since then.. can't wait to compare it with the final product.
  23. @efferman I see a gear on the top for HOG where it is usually placed, the one on the back might have a different function (if it has any and it's not only mimicking a spare wheel).
