Jurassic World 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion
Whovastron replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
Gonna contradict everything I’ve said so far, but the official pics make it look a lot better. The T-Rex has much more possibility than I thought, and the gates do attempt the staggered size at the front -

That’s basically what we got in the two-pack right? Just in a new colour? No idea why they delayed this one- 428 replies

There was a thread a long while back about it sagging. A lot of the people complaint seemed to have built it wrong, and one person straight up just kinda took it apart to make it look worse and started to argue with the designer (who apparently used to be active here)

Jurassic World 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion

To be fair, the gate in this set is minifig scale, the gates in the movie are huge. i can’t get over how inaccurate the gates design is though. There should be 3 tiers, and here it’s just one slope, and the slope doesn’t change gradient at the bottom like this. And the position of the torches are all wrong, and the sign is too small. Such a shame -

I mean, voting on ideas is exactly indicative of wanting the set...that’s why they do it. But still, this isn’t the set 10000 people asked for. They asked for a more accurate representation of the gates (although the size on this is good) and the explorer and Rexy, not just Rexy also, minor gripe, but the Jurassic World logo being on the display stand rather than jurassic park is a tad annoying -
I don’t think the slave 1 sagging thing was ever real. Mines been on display 2 years and still looks fine I think you may have built it wrong, because it’s a super sturdy build

The thing that gets to me is the logo on the gate, why is it so damn small? Also the gate is way too ‘studded’. Sounds like a pathetic critique I know, but I feel flat surfaces need to have a good balance of studs and flat when replicated in Lego, this one doesn’t really do it for me. Also the shape is off, the side parts should get smaller near the top, creating a sort of ledge, but that’s absent here. -

Well, that sucks. always had a feeling it wouldn’t be the visitor centre. But damn that looks awful. The gates look so inaccurate, the sign is too small, it looks so plain and boring. the T-Rex is way too big, I know it’s supposed to be a model, but meh, just looks bad. very bad set, they had a real shot here at doing a definitive set, but nah. Saves me £250 I guess -
LEGO Ideas - Central Perk Coffee of Friends

Seems it’s based on season 1/2, and definitely coming soon. Maybe it will be out for a Friendsfest in the uk (official friends event every year) -
Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors, Wishlists and Discussion

The only thing I think is a certainty is the Astronomy Tower. Kinda sucks that we likely won’t get the library building as a set though, kinda need that to replicate the ‘front’ view of hogwarts. only parts I think are really needed to pull off a good hogwarts are great hall, grand staircase tower, clocktower, library building (east wing?), astronomy tower, bell towers, owlery -
It’s kinda vague. Some stuff is locked in. Basically anything introduced in Disney CMF cant be used elsewhere as far as I know (hence why the 11th Doctor didn’t have Aladdin’s hair and fez combo)

Treehouse is releasing August. But it’s not impossible for there to be two sets releasing close together... -

They’ll probably do sets based on that. The chances of classic movie stuff is very slim, no ones doing merch for it -

It’ll definitely be this year, I heard October. It’s the 25thanniversary so it’s guaranteed this year -
DC Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion

Give it a couple months and they’ll all be 20% off. my rule for all Lego now is only buy stuff at full price if it really, really excited me in person. This wave didn’t excite me enough until I saw that batmobile on the shelves, I’d happily pay retail for that, but the rest can wait until they’re on sale. for example, I just got the Talons set from last summer for £10 at Sainsbury’s, along with the Grindlewald’s escape set from Fantastic Beasts. These things will be cheaper eventually -
Of course it depends on how the movie does, just look at angry birds and speed racer, my point is that minions fits into what Lego usually does. Harry Potter doesn’t really. dont get me wrong I do believe and agree with you on it being a gold mine, I’m just saying that from a business standpoint it would probably be considered risky to release sets for a film series that doesn’t have a new film out. All the other times it’s happened (the second year of Indiana Jones is the only one I can think of) it failed.
-
Minions isn’t risky because it has a movie coming and it’s what Lego does; random new theme for a new movie. Harry Potter is an entirely different kettle of fish. A theme that has died twice before, hasn’t had a movie in nearly 10 years, and has only recently started to get a new marketing push. Honestly without fantastic beasts last year this theme would not be back EDIT: Also I’m not denying there’s a high demand, there definitely is and Lego shouldn’t be worried. But from a business point of view, just looking at numbers and trends, Iran probably viewed as risky.
-
I think it would be cool if they did waves that covered many movies from one company. Instead of stretching one movie out to several sets, an ‘illumination’ theme could have a minions set, trolls set, and whatever else they have. They could also do the same for dreamworks; with like a Shrek swamp set, a set with Toothless and the kid from Dragons. Could be really cool.
-
There’s been some advertisements in Barnes and Nobel saying they’re gonna be there July 1st these store exclusive early releases for America are a smart move by Lego to be honest, a big payout from those companies to get them first must help the budget for what is still a risky theme. last year the theme was risky because of how old it is, this year it’s risky because there’s less ‘iconic’ stuff, and no Fantastic Beasts movie. If this wave doesn’t sell well I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s not a wave next year and they wait until the next Fantastic Beasts

Jurassic World 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion
Whovastron replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
I reckon they’re playing this very carefully after everything that happened with The Upside Down. Lego aren’t very happy at the moment -
Didn’t realise they were that close. I don’t recall illumination making a movie that is generally good (not just fart jokes). But dreamworks has some real solid stuff (Shrek, how to train your dragon, Kung fu panda)

This is just the worst, surely this isn’t going to do well

That was never said. But also that doesn’t equal thread, a next year thread comes with the first rumours or leaks. The Harry Potter one was made just cause, I thought the mods would lock it but here we are -
