LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

What are the promos for triple force Friday? I know there’s the battle of Ensor set, which I wasn’t fussed about but since getting the hoth one with the ISD, I really want it. But is there gonna be anything else? Double points? A poly bag? -
Does (not) enjoying a movie/series influence your purchase decisions?
Whovastron replied to Flieger's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It does and it doesn’t. If I really enjoy a piece of media, I’ll suddenly be interested in the merchandise. The Lego movie 2 for example, didn’t want the sets until after I watched the movie. with Star Wars though, it’s many different things. I bought the Black Ace because it looks cool, but most of the time I buy the sets because I want those vehicles and characters. With the Last Jedi, I got all the main cast (Rey, Finn, Poe, Rose, Luke, Kylo, Snoke) so I haven’t bothered to get any more sets. I like the AT-M6 and Star Destroyer, but not enough to get them. With Solo, I liked the movie, but didn’t want the cast or vehicles. I just bought his landspeeder and the battle pack because they looked really cool and had some great minifigures. And then the TIE because...TIE fighter. outside of Star Wars though, I’ve never seen Voltron, but the set looks awesome so I do want it. I’m not a huge car guy, but the speed champions sets look awesome so I get them. I’ve never bought a ninjago Set other than destinys bounty and Ninjago city, because they are amazingly designed sets. -

My nearest store got 15 Star Destoryers, one less than the falcon. The falcon sold out before the doors opened, but this one had only sold 3 by the time I got there, 15 minutes after opening -
Just finished building it...what a monster... it’s breathtaking. It has such a commanding presence, definitely more striking and displayable than the falcon, it just demands attention
-
Not saying that this set isn’t as popular as the Falcon. But in 2017 my local store sold out before the doors open, this year I got there 15 minutes after opening and they had sold 3.... they didn’t even stock as many as they did for the falcon, only by one, but still, interesting

You say that, but look at the T-Rex and Stranger Things sets this year, or other sets like Voltron. Since these comments were made, Lego have really improved their stability in big sets, even articulated ones. The T-Rex can fall over quite easily, but still passed the tests and features tons of articulation -
I think the ucs AT-AT will probably just be plus-size, like the sandcrawler. Big enough to not look weird, but not minifigure scale as that’s too big
-
I’m calling it now; the big UCS Set is an AT-AT. now hear me out, what’s the main thing holding them back from releasing a large AT-AT? Stability. now look at what sets have been released this past year or so; the Jurassic Park T-Rex, the Stranger Things house, Voltron. The list goes on, these are not the most stable of builds. The T-Rex can topple in an instant if you move it wrong, and yet it’s still full of articulation, but heavy articulation, Lego have really sussed out how to make stable joints in big things like that. so considering that, considering next year is pretty much guaranteed a walker anyhow if it follows the 3-year tradition of the past few iterations, and considering the popularity of even the plus sized model in the community. I think that next year is the most likely it’s ever been that we’ll see a £200-300 AT-AT. But even if I’m wrong, we’ll probably get some sort of version of the vehicle anyhow, because of the 3 year thing, and the fact we got a snowspeeder this year

My point still stands. And up until the astronomy tower was introduced/or redesigned in HBP, it was
-
I disagree with that first part, remember that the grand staircase tower is the larger tower in hogwarts, basically the tallest building, and yet the clocktower, one of the smallest, is an overall bigger Lego set.
-
I think, considering there’s a chance that both the Great Hall and Whomping Willow sets will retire in the new year, it would be really nice to get two sets for hogwarts next year; a large building and some modular parts like the previous sets. Personally, I’d like to set, for the big set, the east wing (basically the building to the right of the UCS Hogwarts Set). With the set based on Order of the Phoenix, y’know, featuring the room of requirement and Umbridge’s office specifically. Could have a buildable death eater target, and figures of characters we haven’t gotten from DA, like the twins and Ginny. as for the smaller set; the Astronomy Tower, based on Half-Blood Prince. In this feature a tall, but slim, Astronomy tower, and a couple generics wall parts like the other sets. Minifigures like Bellatrix or older Draco could be cool.

I really hope Lego are a bit more prepared for the ISD compared to the Falcon. My local store got 16 Falcons. I might not have the chance to get there for the Wednesday, so hopefully they’ll have some on the Thursday -

@everyone saying they only make Batman sets now, they dont the branding is just batman for the last two waves, sure, much like the Marvel ones had spider-man. But from what I can tell, Lego are trying to brand each set after the character/film it’s based on to maximise sales. Look at the Avengers for example, a parent going into the toy isle will find it a lot easier to tell the bright white Avengers sets apart from the blue Spider-Man sets. And it seems to have worked, as the Avengers sets have sold a lot better than previous waves, despite being a weak wave. this year has seen a focus on Batman as he is the most popular character, i full expect us to, at some point, get something else. There will probably be a set with a justice league logo used, or one for Wonder Woman 1984 next year. -
LEGO Speed Champions 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion
Whovastron replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Town
I really hope Classic Lambo is the Countach. And if it is the countach it needs to be red...(so it can be Autobot Sideswipe!) as for the modern one, i expect the Aventador, but they’re all fairly similar in style so in this scale I doubt it will matter much, unless it’s one of the more exaggerated designs like the Sesto Elemento. I hope the Quattro can be converted to road car, I always like when they include that feature. overall though, sounds like a great year for Speed Champions. I had hoped we’d get another Mini set, I’d love to get a £30 three pack of red, white and blue, but oh well. -

The size is swaying me. i just discovered another collectible item I have is currently selling for between £300-£500, so I think I might sell that to fund the Star Destroyer, I can look at it more of a “trade” and some cash, rather than just paying the full £650. that £65 worth of vip points is helping too, takes the price down to 595, with is only £100 over what I’m happy to pay for the set -

Can we stop complaining about people complaining? If you don’t want to see positive and negative opinions then just don’t read them. It’s really that simple. sarcasm aside, it’s just criticism, and it part of discussion. There’s always likely to be something negative about every release. If you don’t wanna see both sides, maybe a forum isn’t for you. For me the price is disappointing because I really, really want such a gorgeous-looking Set -

Right, so I just got the tape measure out to compare the approximate sizes to my Falcon... and holy heck, there’s no way it can be this big. It doesn’t look that big in the video, but it’s almost 1.5x the length of the falcon, it’s like double the height, and the width of it is only 20cm shy of the length of the Falcon. I’m honestly shocked I doesn’t have more pieces of that size is correct. I honestly cannot fathom a purchasable Lego Set being that big, regardless of piece count. I can’t wait to see this bad boy in real life -

Am I the only one not noticing gaps? There’s the bit at the front and then the centre line. The centre line is unavoidable, so that can’t really be a complaint. But just looking st the rear and the bridge, the shaping and gap filling is amazing -

Yeah, but the falcon did have large pieces too. Let me just say that this is just how I feel about Lego, I would rather get another 7000 piece set for the same price, regardless of the size and weight. I genuinely take the length of builds into account too, and having probably like 4 hours shorter build for this compared to the falcon is a tad disappointing, obviously that’s not a huge gripe, but it still is one for me I never said that the length of the build means something good or bad, it definitely doesn’t. The Helicarrier is a longer build than the Speed Champions Mini, but the latter is a better representation of what it is. i dunno, I don’t usually quote the whole old PPP like you say, I don’t even think Lego has gotten more expensive over the years, it’s probably actually the cheapest things I collect (try collecting transformers in the UK...) i personally don’t care about an interior, the falcons is nice but I don’t exactly use it. Same for the minifigure thing, more would be nice, but this set is about the model, not the figures. Honestly the set is perfect to me, it’s the perfect representation of one of my favourite ships. But I just don’t think I’ll be comfortable paying the same amount for much less than the falcon. however, as with most D2Cs, I’ll wait on final judgement until I see it instore. I hated the Jurassic Park D2C, but seeing it in store made me want it a lot. I’d never been interested in Ninjago city, but I bought it the day after seeing it instore. But yeah, I do like the set, a lot. But whilst price per piece isn’t everything, getting 3000 less for the same price is gonna bug me. But I’ll end up buying it either way so oh well -

Okay, I’m clearly mainly referring to the fact that this set has 3000 pieces less than the falcon. To me that makes it smaller. It will be a way shorter build, a lighter set, and just feel like less than the falcon to me. It may have larger pieces, although the falcon does have a lot of large pieces, but it’s still almost a cloud city set smaller than the falcon in terms of value. I am going to get it, but I think pricing it the exact same as the Falcon is disgusting pricing. -

Based on having 3000 less parts. Size with Lego isn’t just the footprint, it’s the density the price is a huge shame, because this is a magnificent set, absolutely beautiful. A monster representation of one of, if not my favourite ships in Star Wars. I will 100% be getting it, just not on day one like I planned. I’ll save for this one I think -

I am definitely getting this set...but it’s no longer a day 1 buy. £500, I could have dealt with. But £650 for something way smaller than the falcon is ridiculous. -

...what?! its the same price as the Falcon in the UK! Yet 3000 parts less!? What the heck. This was a day one purchase, but I’m gonna need time to come to terms with that price tag, that is ridiculous -

The imperial officer looks like it might have dual moulded legs to me, would be a nice variant. but, anyway, to quote Krennic: “oh it’s beautiful” I just love the ISDs, and this look amazing, absolutely amazing. I reckon the UK price will be £500, works with the piece count and rumoured American price. I hope it’s less though, maybe £450. I could live with that
